    Palencia’s the key, right? He needs to be Palencia again. Then Webb / Zeferjahn settle in to 7th / 8th duty, some combo of Civale / Assad / Shota / whoever else for longer relief. Maybe then the pen would have a chance to catch its breath. Clarify roles.

    Webb is a guy who MAYBE just ran into a bad patch. MAYBE Palencia can find his groove.

    I hope you are right but May ain’t September and we have some guys who have seemingly turned into pumpkins like Shota, Thielbar, Thornton. I don’t see those guys coming out of it. I don’t see them as just having a bad stretch of games.

    Yeah I’m not wanting to give up on them but what I’m seeing isn’t just a bad streak. They are genuinely not good. Crew are going to take.

    This has to be Shota’s last start. I’m OK with him out of the BP.

    There’s something distasteful about hearing guys gush over one of our players as the team heads for another loss. I get it. PCA is awesome. The pitching staff is crap and the team itself is struggling.

    I called Shota a middle reliever in like June. Nothing has changed that opinion. He doesn’t have starter stuff. Why are we kidding ourselves?
