He looked fine when they were showing him on the sideline after he came out, chatting with a coach Probably just some hysterical rumor-milling fans. I haven't heard anything about him being hurt on the TV feed.

I haven't heard mention of it on the TV feed I'm watching, but some postings on other sites are saying Cutler is hurt, which is why Hanie came in so early.

I got that stream working. Same old soft pass D, no pass rush, gave up a 3rd & 10, then a long TD pass that the CB got beat very, very badly on.

To be fair, I don't think he had much of a chance to "stack up" the OL, AFTER he got Cutler. Part of the investment for that franchise QB was two #1 picks and a 3rd round pick. By the time the Bears 1st pick came this year, there were no linemen on the board that were worthwhile. The FA class of OL was pretty weak due to no CBA, so no help there either. Additionally, before 2009 he did spend on Omiyale, Pace, and invested heavily in essentially a highly drafted rookie in Chris Williams year and probably thought he had a solid line for at least a couple years. That being said, the Gaines Adams trade was stupid, even when he was alive. And could have been potential OL help in the 2nd round this year (like Beadles or Ducasse). He traded back in 2009 and could have had an OL like Levitre, Vollmer, Beatty, or Loadholt who all started some games as rookies. I think the problem with the Oline is that Angelo basically ignored it from 2005-2008 From 2003-2008 actually. Except when he seemingly wakes up briefly and goes "crap we need some OLine!" then makes a bunch of moves for other teams' depth chart guys & such. It's just not a good plan, I think we're all in agreement on Angelo and his OLine badness.

I'll just give him his chance to fail and then go from there. Really, I think Beek can do the job anyway. I think they hold Beek back because they like the security blanket for Kreutz that he provides. I don't think there's much downside to trying Louis out this early. But obviously the OLine as a unit is a massive Question.

I really hate that Phillips did this, then the Reds laid a turd though. That sucks. Would have been nice if they could have at least held serve.

LOL. I guess it's the American in me that sees that list, and suddenly feels an urge to try each of those out to see if they are true.

Sometimes a young, raw talent like that will flourish when given the chance. We can only hope. I'm glad Martz/Tice are trying it. I think Tommie's (and recall reading the same about Toeina on 1 play in particular) been lighting him up in practice though. I wonder what happened w/ Asiata? Was he that bad? What about Beekman? Though I figured he wouldn't be the starter. Come on now, it's been what? A couple days? Give the kid a chance. A couple days was long enough to put Asiata and Beekman on the 2nd team. So? If one of them would have been named starter, I'd give them at least a few weeks to see what they could do, too.

Biggs is all over everything. I kind of appreciate it, but yeah - sometimes it feels like he overdoes it a bit. Unless this wasn't what he was talking about...

They should also post on the NHL.com website that delegitimizing championships is a practice they believe in.

I want to believe this. But I try not to underestimate the incompetence of Gary Bettman. Voiding Hossa's contract could be another chapter in his upcoming book "How to Destroy Any Progress the NHL Makes" I won't believe they'll do it until I actually see it. I'd be floored. They'd be going back over a year, after a Championship was won based on that contract, and after having given tacit approval for an entire season by not acting upon it. It would be a murderously bad decision.

I'm not going to deny myself any and all optimism about the Bears. At this juncture, it's impossible to say they can't do something. Too many times in the NFL teams surprise and make the playoffs when it looked like they wouldn't at the beginning of the year. The league is too volatile, the nature of the game too unpredictable. As a fan, I'm going to cling to hope until proven otherwise. I will turn pessimistic when faced with the reality of the present-day suckage. I see no reason to do that right now.

If it was Jeff Joniak, then it would be typical offseason fluff. The fact that it comes from the enemy makes it more interesting than that. Nobody said comments like those mean the Bears are going to win. They're interesting comments in the absence of real games. But he's talking specifically about guys whose greatest achievements occured in Vikings uniforms. He's blowing smoke up their butts. They're not Vikings anymore. They are the enemy now, to him.
