  1. In fairness, reading the press out of Vancouver today, and in recent days, I don't think they're buying that crap anymore. They were before -- blaming refs, big buff's play, some kind of perceived unfairness on the part of the Hawks. But lately I've been reading more statements along the lines of Luongo just blowing it, and the composure of the team just not holding up -- more self-examination. So I think Bobby Lu continues with that junk at his own risk. The home folk aren't happy with him and his team's performance right now.
  2. I'm not sure about his contract situation, but if I was Vancouver I'd think about a coaching change... Too much talent on that team to implode at home 0-3 in a huge playoff series for that town and those fans. They aren't getting rid of Luongo, probably not breaking up the Sedins. You can make the case that the internals on that team are not strong, which I would think tends to point at the coach... So claim the Canucks are still better all you want, Bobby. You're part of that team too, and looking at it from the outside, you just didn't measure up to Q.
  3. Up 3-1, you run the risk of hitting game 7 with all the momentum against you if you drop 2. That's the additional pressure I feel. Hawks goal!!
  4. There's only 2 types of Cub fans. Those who are bitter and those who eventually will be bitter. Go Hawks :)
  5. Seriously? Whoops, looks like I misread Jersey's post. But yes -- actually I don't see why anyone should be off the table. Taking him off the table has nothing to do with it, you can't trade a pitcher with a huge contract for any sort of value when you handling him the way the Cubs are handling Zambrano. Teams won't understand that Z is still strong starter material just because Lou decided to put him in the pen? I don't buy that.
  6. Maybe they can just bring up another youngster for a 6 RBI first game.
  7. Yeah, Olczyk must have a hellish amount of frequent flyer miles.
  8. They definitely have at least two. Doc and whoever called the Pitt-Mon game last night and Forslund-Edzo called the last Hawks game. I just assumed tonight would be the VS guys on that channel. It probably will be, because it's the only game. They've cut in on the CSN broadcast before though. I don't know for sure, but it seems to make sense that they do it when they are joining a later game in progress
  9. Hawks and Canucks are it tonight. Yeah Hawks are the only NHL game tonight. It's on VS and CSN, though for out of town people like me I assume CSN will be blacked out again. I wonder if VS will do a separate announcer team then. Or just cut in on the CSN broadcast. I believe I've seen it both ways.
  10. I'll watch MMA occasionally, but not often. Much as I'm down on the state of boxing today, I think I still enjoy seeing fighters work within a stricter framework better. I'm probably a rarity in that regard. I like how the restrictions on what you can do makes the "game" of boxing happen. Guys can't just haul off with whatever limb they want, or go for a tackle to get into a wrestling match if they are outgunned. They have to figure out how to beat the other boxer's strong points within the framework. Again though, I'll watch MMA every so often too. I'd call myself a casual fan of both; boxing still holds my interest more. I disagree with you that boxing is dead. In the US, it's on one leg now. But worldwide I think it would be a mistake to declare it extinct.
  11. Seriously? Whoops, looks like I misread Jersey's post. But yes -- actually I don't see why anyone should be off the table.
  12. All I can say to that is thank God CSN has its priorities straight.
  13. Go ahead and move him back into the rotation if you want. Not sure it will make much difference most days, when we struggle to tally 2 runs. But go ahead. I think I'd rather start looking to trade him, as jacey and jcf suggest.
  14. I'm not sure anyone short of Lebron James makes a team the favorite in the East. Because if it isn't James, then at best you still need to get past James. Probably, you'd need to get past the Magic and James. Does a guy like Bosh, for example, do that for the Bulls? Great player, but does he raise a team to that level? I have my doubts.
  15. You could shell out for Paxil. Or you could go with the generic equivalent and save some money: JD.
  16. Hope he's OK. It's one of those things that evoke immediate empathy, even from fans of the opposition :)
  17. BUMP. Not good last night. One of them was a routine grounder where he did everything right as far as I could tell, but the throw just sailed on him. I'm sure he'll get it more under control than last night. He'll need to pretty much eliminate that kind of stuff altogether to be considered a good defender, of course.
  18. Robertson's strategy of giving Sori pitches on the inner half doesn't seem to be working.
  19. I thought Starlin was a decent glove.
  20. There you go Geo. Don't swing at crap.
  21. 4 games under .500, 10th place in the wild card. It's a fairly daunting task. Not that I expect this team to contend, but I don't see how being in "10th place" right now has much cogency at all. Sure, that's a lot of teams to pass but 130 games is an exceedingly long time to do so. They're a half game behind three of those teams (Florida, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles) and only five games back of the wild card leader (San Francisco). I'm with you. 10th place or not, it's too early for me to draw any conclusions.
  22. I think we'll know early how this game will turn out. Team that scores first wins.
  23. That would be normal reality. For me, I don't understand why you'd want Texas, since no matter what teams are picked the Big 10 is going to be in great shape. Why add another 800 pound gorilla to the conference? It makes basketball more exciting? Big time games in conference all year long in both basketball and football. They've got great fan support in Austin and they have solid programs. Why wouldn't I want to add that to my conference, if I am looking to expand?
