  1. I believe what you are seeing is the tool used to create the letters, which is also blue. No "S"
  2. I dunno...Dan Bernstein and Dan Mcneil, at the very least, are big hockey fans. I'm sure there are some guys that are uncomfortable with the hockey discussion...I don't listen to ESPN 1000 down here because it's got a weaker signal than The Score...but there are a few that actually do know what they're talking about. It's just that I think these guys typically are directed to talk about other sports because hockey doesn't draw listeners...or at least it didn't used to. Right, that's 2 out of dozens though. Well...I named those 2 only because they're the ones I hear mostly...I just can't speak to the rest. Mcneil is the guy that most fits your description. He's been waiting for this opportunity to talk Hawks for years. I'm enjoying listening to him. Bernstein -- he's diligent about his coverage of Chicago teams in general as part of his job. He's not particularly expert in hockey. He just has something of substance to say because he is pretty good about that in general.

  4. I realize this is basically a transition year, but shouldn't this team at least have a manager who is paying attention?
  5. Yeah, it sounds to me like Philly and Chicago have similarities when it comes to hockey. Sure, right now in Chicago all the sports talk radio guys are jumping on, doing Hawks talk, etc. But the analysis is clearly lacking in terms of expertise because the vast majority of the hosts spent their whole career talking football & baseball, with some basketball thrown in. In Chicago you'll get Bears talk as a result of any minicamp or team meeting in the offseason. You won't even know the Hawks exist if they aren't making a playoff run.
  6. I stopped following the Hawks when it became clear that BWirtz was openly running it into the ground. If someone doesn't like that, too bad. I have no obligation to explain myself to them.
  7. I know, it's like an arms race between methods of testing and methods of beating the tests. I don't think there's ever going to be a way to really know who is clean and who isn't. Not for sure.
  8. Better end like UMFan's pics and not Kyle's pics. You better not do this to me, Hawks.
  9. Buccigross picked the Flyers because his preseason Stanley Cup prediction was Flyers over Blackhawks and he wants to be right. He made that guess before the playoffs started? Heckuva guess just to get the teams right. I'm confused though. He picked Boston over Philly in round 2. Yeah, that's not bad. He better be wrong, that's all I'm sayin'
  10. Another team beat us so we're all pissy about it. Waah.
  11. I'm sure those who cover the Super Bowl enjoy their assignment every year to a warm locale. We'll probably be subjected to many stories about the cold temps during the run up to the game that year.
  12. The theory is, you can throw out the overall regular season numbers for the Flyers because they got hot for the playoffs, and are still hot. Hot or a favorable schedule? The east was a complete mess, partially because of Montreal. I really have no idea what to think or expect. They should have gone down to Boston. I feel like if Boston wasn't able to win the 4th game, then they should lose. Likewise, if Nashville can't seal the deal when there are mere minutes left and they have a power play, then too bad so sad -- they didn't deserve anything more than what they got. A crushing defeat and a series loss. Anyway, it's just the way I've been hearing Philly talked about. They're a hot team right now, they are better than their record, etc. etc.
  13. I'm not sure it's wrong. Both are multi-sport cities where the baseball and football teams get more attention.
  14. Isaac Bruce had career highs in catches (119), yards (1,781) and TD's (13) his second year in the league. He followed that up with 1,338 yards in his third year and averaged 16 yards per reception. He was then banged up for the next two years and only played 17 total games before the Martz/Warner years. His point still holds in some cases though. There are guys who just work within a certain system. You could see a decent-but-not-great guy on the Bears put up big numbers for a year or two if everything clicks. Sustaining it for many years is likely more the realm of the truly great.
  15. Unhittable slider when it is on. Fun to watch hitters look silly against him with the game on the line.
  16. It's interesting. There are a few factors in play here that are probably coming together at the same time to lower the interest in the Cubs a little bit. It'll come back up. As for the game threads, I thought the decline had something to do with the game chat being instituted, and more people using that. Also -- people around here know that 2010 is kind of a holdover year for the Cubs, I believe. I don't think that's going to be true for more mainstream Cub fans. Maybe that accounts for the disparity. Also -- and don't take this wrong -- IMHO game threads really are supposed to be an emotional dumping ground for fans. To me, that's at the very heart of what they are. They're bitch threads. Take that away, and many people just aren't going to post anything. Now, if that's the way we want to go on NSBB, then that's fine. I've tried to keep my own bitching to a minimum this year. But it's also going to lower the traffic on the threads overall, IMO, because that's what many fans want to do. They want to bitch and moan somewhere.
  17. It's a great idea. Bad weather is part of football. Whether it's rain in Miami, or snow in NY -- keep the elements part of the game. I applaud this decision.
  18. I've been trying to ignore them.
  19. Cubs win! Lose like hell to bad teams, win like hell to good teams
  20. Hahahhhhhh!! Ask and ye shall receive!!
  21. Insurance run wanted. Top dollar.
  22. That was a problem with the PA system or organist. Lee was waiting for the organ tone to cue him and it wasn't audible. Slim lead. Demp has been great.
  23. The theory is, you can throw out the overall regular season numbers for the Flyers because they got hot for the playoffs, and are still hot.
  24. It would be nice if a Chicago team other than the White Sox could break through for a change. I find it really hard to shake the "impending doom" mentality of a Chicago fan. Although -- until the Phils won their WS, many in that city would have said the same thing. We just need a team to get it done. Make me feel much better 8-)
