  1. You can't pretend that the WC and EC are the same level of skill though. Each team has beaten 3 teams to get here, and those 3 teams aren't equal, as UM's post showed. I know, but I still respect what the Flyers did, especially coming back from 3 games down.
  2. Just by virtue of the fact that your opponent made it to the Cup Finals pretty much means you will have to face a good team -- whether that means a great regular season team, or a team that got really hot. It's hard to expect to get this far and face a tomato can. The Hawks will need to beat a team that is playing very well and has some really good qualities. And so will the Flyers.
  3. One of those in that Nashville game. Either the Kaner shortie or the Hossa game winner right out of the box. I was flipping my lid. Neighbors probably thought about calling a paddy wagon :)
  4. It sounds laughable to hear him gush about our WRs. Maybe he knows something we don't.
  5. Bulls apparently doing the cloak & dagger thing to gauge Phil Jackson's interest in returning to the team. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5216961
  6. Understood. I'd just like to not go in that direction. As for the Hawks dominating: I'm not sure it matters. To me, the Sharks are a very good team. Just beating them is enough.
  7. I don't see why we need to play the "what if" game. Nabokov wasn't as good as Niemi. So what? That's sports. What -- your conference championship isn't legit unless you went against Patrick Roy in his prime to get it? Come on, stop please.
  8. I doubt some retired QB is going to be mentoring Cutler at this point. A) He's already an established QB, and B) He's already spent time in the system. If Trent Green shows up in July I can't imagine Cutler leaning on him for help learning a system he spent all offseason studying. For the record, I don't like the idea of bringing in a veteran backup. Brad Biggs mentioned something about Green being less of a real threat to Cutler than Bulger would be, so by bringing him in, he's truly just insurance against Cutler getting injured, but in my mind, you're not going anywhere if Cutler is hurt anyway, so might as well get Hanie some experience in that scenario. I don't think many coaches view it as "season over" if their top QB goes down. Even if it really is. I suppose Green could give Jay some system-based pointers when Martz isn't around. That might be of some marginal help. I'm not totally against it, but I can't see why Green would want to do it.
  9. Yeah, be like Tazer and don't touch the WCF trophy. That's not what we want.
  10. Then it's a good thing that hockey is played on ice and not through chance. Sometimes the way the puck bounces it seems like chance has a large say in the matter. I give the Flyers a chance to win, definitely. Just like I gave the Preds a chance.
  11. My brother has been visiting me throughout the playoffs. He's very lucky. This thing's in the bag, folks. Nothing can get rid of my brother, or his luck. Sorry Philly you lose.
  12. I'd like the 6 days for Duncan to feel better, and Ladd's injury (whatever it really was) to get a little time. I don't want much more than that though. I do subscribe to the idea that too many days off can affect a team in the first game of the series.
  13. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/mulligan/2308124,CST-SPT-mully24.article I don't know why he would come back just to sit the bench all year. He'd really have an "injury only" opportunity here. Same with Bulger, who I heard someone mention.
  14. 6 days off should be ideal for the Hawks. I guess I'm rooting for the Flyers to win tonight, oddly enough. I don't like the idea of sitting around doing nothing for over a week.
  15. Does Philly play the trap well? That is what I heard about the Preds coming into the opening round, and it seemed to stagnate the Hawks for a little while. I believe the Sharks tried it a bit last night, but after about 15 minutes the Hawks seemed to have adjusted.
  16. Is that just your negative Chicago fan side coming out, or are you basing it on something? Though I don't watch all that much hockey, my sense is that the Sharks are a better team than the Flyers. I don't think Buff will be able to be nearly the force he was in the past two series. I think Vancouver and San Jose both tried to out-Blackhawk the Blackhawks, and failed. Philly won't play like them. Definitely going to be a challenge. And if Montreal does come back, that's going to be a huge layoff between games, and the whole team of destiny impossible to eliminate thing is going to be the key for them. If Philly wins, what does it look like for game 1? Thursday? I think it is yet to be decided (at least that is what I thought I heard this morning). I can't figure out if I would rather just play Philly sooner (we've got a lot of momentum after dismantling the Sharks), or if I want Montreal to make it tougher.

  19. Pretty pathetic if it was something intentional. But who knows.
  20. Yes, I'm sure the Blackhawks are shaking in their boots over what Philly fans might do to them if they get excited over a goal.
  21. :-)) Sorry. RIP buddy.
  22. Yesterday was my first WGN Cub game in HD, and it was gorgeous. But......I only watched it during Hawks commercials and intermissions.
  23. I still believe ARam and Lee will start hitting. It's a long slump for ARam, and a typical slow start for Lee, IMO.
  24. I think it's expected that as the Hawks go further in the playoffs, it becomes tougher to conceive of breaking them up. Let's just win the damn cup now, and worry about it later 8-)
  25. Pretty amazing how the Hawks took absolutely everything the Sharks could dish out all series, and still didn't lose a single game. Bring on the CUP FINALS!!!!!
