Shoeless Joe also now eligible.
The “integrity of the game” argument against Rose took a huge hit when MLB and frankly all the leagues went all-in on partnering with gambling entities like FanDuel and Draftkings. I’m not saying gambling is something terrible in itself but that argument no longer makes much sense to me.
The commissioner’s argument that Rose is dead so he no longer poses a threat to the integrity of the game is BS because of Shoeless Joe, who has been dead since 1951.
I just think the stench of hypocrisy from MLB on this is overwhelming.
I guess if this is really the bullpen for the season it’s a pretty good bet we’ll sink back down to a mean that’s kinda .500-ish
The offense is still really good but two top starters out, crap bullpen….smells like mediocrity
Yep. I don’t mind the betting although I’m smart enough to know I’d lose all my cash so I don’t do it. But $150/yr for MLB.TV, can they at least start with some non-rivalry games? Jeebs.
Anyway, rant over.
If Loveland and Burden are both hits I’ll consider it a good draft though. Add Turner as either a starter or solid rotational guy and I’ll be very pleased.
Big ifs.
Feels like it’s a pattern with the Cubs playing down to the level of opponents. I can accept the “that’s baseball“ explanation if it’s happening occasionally.
So get to this guy and win the damn game. He’s good but so are we.
Matt Miller says the Burden pick was the #1 pick of the entire draft.
And Loveland was his #7 pick overall.
Says Burden was the best WR in the draft (he counted Hunter as a two-way player), and he had Loveland over Warren as #1 TE.
