  1. That's the weirdest god bless America I've ever seen
  2. I'm flirting with not only a Cub rain delay, but also a Hawks rain delay :(
  3. Because the NHL game is on Versus, they might not be record setting lows. Ahh, yes. You are correct sir.
  4. I'll be on a plane for game 6, out of the country for game 7.
  5. Let's just hope Rocky doesn't have a mid life crisis or something and decide his Dad had some good ideas.
  6. I'm having trouble seeing Hendry give Lou the early send off. I hate the idea of a guy drifting to retirement like this though. Can't we just have Lou become the "manager" -- in name only -- and have Trammel secretly run the team? Let's get creative here. :-))
  7. Is there any indication that Hendry is working on trades? I don't know, but it kind of sounds like we're doing nothing, at least for now.
  8. Yeah, that one raised my eyebrow a bit. Even the angry fans who want everyone to believe they know something secret that nobody else does -- I can't believe they're going for Sopel jerseys.
  9. I did grow up a hockey fan. My Dad took me to Hawks games at least once a season. I lost interest during Bill's bad years. I'm a big bandwagoner now. I even bought the Kane jersey over the Toews jersey :)
  10. OK folks, Hawks will definitely lose tonight.
  11. I'd love to check the TV ratings on this baby in the Chicago area. Might set records.......
  12. Oh, if only. I would love it if they fired Lou, let Trammel finish the year and then signed him up for at least one full year with Sandberg as the bench coach. I've resigned myself to the inevitability of Sandberg as manager at some point, so at least with that outcome he spends some time with the big league club under someone else as opposed to jumping right in. That's been my hope, and given Ryno's good soldier status maybe he'd go along with it. But then would Trammel? Would he take a gig where he's essentially a lame duck already just keeping the spot warm for the chosen one? Possibly, if it was done with some kind of understanding that Trammel wouldn't be fired since it was just a one year gig. I've been asking for interim Trammel for weeks now. But I'm resigned to the idea that we will be subjected to Lou for the duration.
  13. So close. So friggin' close....
  14. 2-1 series. Honestly, I'm really interested to see how much more onesided they can get away with. So who determines the ref crews for these games? Why does McCreary always wind up reffing the games? He's one of the most senior referees in the league. They will be alternating the two-man crews we've seen so far for the rest of the series. McCreary gets games 1 3 5 and 7, I think. OK. So the NHL just says "you've been around the longest" and gives him the job? He doesn't seem like a very good ref to me, regardless of his seniority.

  16. This really is Dusty's lame duck year redux then. We're forced to watch essentially a ship without oars, drifting down the river. All year. Pretty helpless feeling
  17. Yea, I've got my annual trip planned for the Aug 6th series and will still go. Crap like this gives me pause though.
  18. The Crew had some kind of indication. I'm not sure what it was, but they knew something. And you know this....how? because they signed him. They aren't signing players who they think will automatically suck. Neither do the Cubs. See dew's post at the top of this page: they almost certainly signed him for vastly different expectations than what they ended up with. McGehee was not on anyone's radar as being this type of player. Look at almost any evaluation of him as a minor leaguer. understood, but even if they're hoping to get lucky there has to be reason they're hoping with McGehee as opposed to the hundreds of other late 20's low-grade prospects. I'm not pretending to know what it was, but it couldn't have just been tossing darts.
  19. I wish he was fired weeks ago, but apparently there is no limit to the amount of oblivious apathy he can display and still keep his job.

  21. I sense another Summer of Cub discontent coming on. Anyone canceling their Wrigley plans?
  22. My fear is Hendry will be here for awhile. What little I have learned about Ricketts is telling me he is not likely to replace both GM and manager at the same time. He seems more measured than that. I want slash & burn right now. I don't feel like I'm going to get it.
  23. I saw it, but wasn't sure if it was a shrug or a shiver. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was a shiver. why would you give Lou the benefit of the doubt? :)
  24. the offense can't be bad, we picked up supercoach Jaramillo remember?
  25. LOL nice FAIL Cobbies. When do the Blackhawks play again?
