Yup. It would involve all the other teams also finishing 6-10. And since it's the NFL, and they'd be the home team, they could even win that opening game. LOL.

He signed my hat. At Wrigley. He was on his golf cart, headed up to the booth, and probably should have just kept going. But he had the driver stop and signed just a couple of hats for us. It wasn't even a big crowd of people or anything. I know it's just one stupid fan's thing, but I'll never forget that. RIP Ronnie. You will be missed greatly.

I know HOU's defense sucks but watching the Eagles blow through them at will still makes me appreciate our D more. Vick couldn't do really anything like this against us.

Agreed it's slightly surprising. They probably feel like Hill/Stanton is essentially not much difference since neither is more than a bench QB. After that, you're left with whether you think this is a valid letdown game for CHI - obviously a couple do. I don't agree with it but I can imagine that's the thought process.

What I really wish would have happened is for all the power rankings on Monday to show the Bears still in the mid-20's, with comments like "Philly was a fluke" and "This team just got lucky" ...then Burleson's comments. ....followed by a much more annoyed Urlacher and Briggs, talking about how they are disrespected and to hell with everyone! But no, instead we get people saying we're good now, and Burleson, but then a magnanimous Urlacher & Briggs talking about how they understand where he's coming from, and yada yada. Wrong mindset.

They're playing Buffalo too, so it becomes safer to talk in terms of a "turnaround" knowing that the likelihood of a 2 game winning streak is relatively high. I'll bet he wouldn't have written that if the Vikes played, say, NE on Sunday.

A career year for Theriot will be an OPS of .750 while having no range at SS. I'm not worried about it. I dunno about that. Bill James is going to be introducing a new statistic to measure and predict the jump gritty white infielders should expect to receive by joining St. Louis. I think he calls it the Pixie Dust Effect (PDE). In his latest article, he predicts with PDE, Theriot should be expected to hit .404 OBP/.420 SLG/.824 OPS next year. I dunno, Theriot's always been tops in the league in CCC (clutchity clutch clutch). -
City of Industry -- that's pretty far out, isn't it? I saw that report on ESPN. I think I like the Downtown LA proposal better. But yeah, that's the problem. LA is a huge behemoth city, with crappy stadiums. And it's hard to get a massive project like that done, especially right now.

Pittsburgh won with a pretty weak line. They had more WR weapons to somewhat offset the problem, but it was a pretty big problem. Yeah I was gonna say, I remember that line being pretty bad. Of course I don't think we have a Santonio Holmes, much less a Hines Ward on our roster. They had a QB who was pretty hard to bring down, too. Guys would come through and just not get Big Ben on the ground. It was clear the blocking wasn't all that great. They just compensated for it. I don't think we can really do that. Jay can move, but he's not going to bust tackles very often.

I would doubt it, only because they have such a terrific rivalry with all three of their division foes, and especially Oakland/Denver. I think STL remains the perfect candidate to switch. STL/IND/HOU/TEN is a fairly natural rivarly, at least geographically. But a lot of people think it will just be San Diego moving north, which would be incredibly boring. Ugh. I think it should be the Jags.

It's difficult to say how everyone would feel if we drop the last 5 games in a row. Probably not very good. But the labor uncertainty + the existing money owed very likely = another year of Lovie is locked in at this point. Certainly a win vs. the Lions makes it an absolute. That's a winning record, a solid W/L improvement to point to in the face of all the other aforementioned factors. A playoff appearance and heck, I'll support another year of Lovie, even. Why not? I'd actually kind of like to see what happens in year 2 of Martz/Cutler, barring a complete collapse.

I was completely conflicted on the Soriano contract. I hated the deal as a whole but was happy they at least had a quality bat in the OF. It was something like being resigned to the fact that Hendry's inability to get hitters before 2007 meant we pretty much had to accept Soriano if we wanted to see them do anything the next couple years. I remember the same. It's just that now we're in Sori contract hell -- the hell we all knew was coming and here it is. Nothing to do now but hope his dropoff is not steep, and ride out the years until he finally goes. -
