  1. How likely do you think it is that reporters will stop asking that question, in that situation? I guess it seems to me like you are asking for something to happen that won't ever happen.
  2. I already said why. He asked for the context of the conversation. To me that's not disrespectful. It would have been easy at that point for Anderson to just say the context was something unrelated to the game. He could even have said the details aren't anyone's business, but it wasn't laughing at the fact that they were losing. Issue over. I've heard this question asked before, and that's the wrong way to answer it.
  3. I don't see why you need to ask the question at all. It's not like Anderson and Lutui are over there laughing at the fans who showed up to the game or how much they enjoy throwing games and not trying. Lutui said something funny, Anderson chuckled a little bit. I don't get why it matters what Lutui said. The question is asked because that's what reporters do. They ask questions. The main issue is whether the reporter was being confrontational, and in the beginning I don't think he was. He was asking for the context, and asking in such a way that he was clearly giving Anderson an easy way out. If he had started off saying "hey, what are you doing smiling when you are losing?" then I'd feel differently. But he only said that after Anderson started flipping out. The first question was done respectfully, IMO.
  4. If players don't hang their heads the entire game and shed tears, they don't care and are probably clubhouse cancers. In fairness, the reporter tried pretty hard to couch his question and asked for the context of the conversation. He tried to ask it in as respectful terms as possible.
  5. Yeah, I don't think you can put people into one bucket or another based on their level of fandom (whatever that is). What I have found with these Wrigley improvements is that you just need to ignore the noise and do them. Certain people freak out whenever changes are suggested. Just ignore them. After 6 months or a year, they forget what they were even complaining about. We've seen this over & over, from the bleacher rebuild to the Under Armor signage. Just move forward.
  6. Won by 14 last year despite being a bad team. Won by 27 the previous year despite being mediocre. 4-2 in Detroit during the Lovie era, with the only losses occuring during 5-11 and 7-9 seasons. The 2007 loss really stands out because it was when many of us still thought the Bears were good despite losing Briggs in the Cowboys game and having everything go downhill. Plus it was a terrible come from ahead loss. But I'm not really worried about playing there, per se. They play better there, I think. But I don't think we are especially terrible there, compared to other road venues. The Lions are bad, plain and simple. There's no excuse for losing next week. None at all.
  7. Hehe you guys are evil, taking great joy in the suffering of Eagles fans & such. OK I enjoy it too :) Of course when the roles are reversed, that's different.
  8. I was still planning on partying today after a very nice night's sleep. Sadly, the scale has revealed that I partied enough over the Thanksgiving weekend. Time to get back to reality. :)
  9. BTW, still LOL'ing at Roy freaking Williams. What a clown. Here's hoping your entire NFL career is summed up in that one, beautiful, bone-headed moment.
  10. 3rd and 9, Bears trying to ice the game. Cutler floats a little pass over the middle to Forte, ball is in the air, and the LB has his hands all over Forte impeding his progress. It was blatant and an easy call but they didn't throw a flag. Cutler was pissed and started jawing at the refs, walked off the field, and apparently said one more thing for the 15 yard unsportsmanlike. It was a really, really terrible no call that gave Philly life. it was a pretty poorly called game, the cherry on top to me wasn't that play, but when the philadelphia offensive line straight up tackled one of our dtackles on the last drive and there wasn't even a whisper of a flag that and the mystery offensive pi that was called in our favor, which im almost positive was a make up call to make sure the reffs got out of chicago without being shanked (they still should have been shanked) Well, let's just say they shouldn't have been given a free pass @ dinner last night :) "You're an NFL ref? Wow, cool! Here's the check pal."
  11. You guys are really going to refuse to enjoy this evening in the afterglow of a great Bear win, aren't you.
  12. Everyone's hurt. So are we, yet we haven't been making any excuses. They still have Manning. In the past, that's been enough.
  13. Do you consider Ken Whisenhunt, Bill Callahan, Tom Coughlin, Andy Reid, Mike Martz and Lovie Smith to be fantastic coaches, then? I won't argue the Lovie is upper eschelon in coaches. But I will argue that he deserves his due share of credit for a turnaround season, especially since it was done in the face of absolutely withering criticism from every quarter of Chicagoland and beyond. There were few who expected this from him. He has my congratulations for the success of 2010 so far. Still work to be done, but so far -- nicely done. That's all I'm saying.
  14. Yes. I would like to focus on this tonight, to the exclusion of all else. WE BEAT THE IGGLES. PARTY!
  15. Yeah. What's up with the Colts? They look very pedestrian right now.
  16. Toeiana and Melton have really come in and provided a needed boost. I think their contributions are getting lost a bit among the Peppers hype. Not that I mind the Peppers hype.
  17. Well this is silly. Of course they ran in the 4th quarter with a 3 score lead. What are you talking about? Can only move the ball with Jay throwing it? I've been waiting for 40 years to be able to say we need our QB to move the ball. No offense, but have you had a few too many?
  18. Yeah, this was really huge. And unexpected. I don't know really what to think right now. I didn't think we could do this. Jay was unbelievable. The defense stifled arguably the hottest player in the NFL, and at the same time kept a formidable array of weapons under wraps. This was impressive as all hell.
  19. I can't think of one thing that Lovie does better than the average coach either. How about this year where everybody was saying the Bears were going to be lucky to win 5 or 6 games, yet they're 8-3 through the 11 game mark? The average coach has them in the same place with the amount of talent the Bears have. Heck an average coach challenges the goal line call with Cutler against Washington and it probably wins them the game. The average coach -- what is your definition of that? I think the average coach might have lost the team in all the chaos that was happening earlier in the year. Lots of these coaches experience their teams simply tuning them out, especially after a string of subpar years. I'm not necessarily a Lovie fan, but you aren't giving him enough credit for where he has us right now. In-game challenges and time management aren't the only measure of a coach. Lovie shines more in his ability to institute a system and manage it at a higher level. This year, it has worked.
  20. lol especially because we HAD beaten someone (GB) before, but everyone said it was a fluke win. This also pushes the Eagles back towards the WC race. Both east teams are 1 GB us, with the Giants over us for tie breakers and us over the Eagles. The Bears are currently in line for a FIRST ROUND BYE And I think between the two, I'd rather have the tiebreaker over the Iggles. Although the Giants did pull off a nice win today.
  21. 11.8 yards per attempt. that's efficiency right there. jay is the only qb that would have us in this position. I'm still eagerly awaiting the day that Chicago accepts that they have a good QB, instead of continually searching for reasons why Cutler is somehow the problem AND MAYBE CALEB HANIE SHOULD GET HIS SHOT!
  22. Ok, Bears fans really need to give that up. I would not ever give up something that would make my team better. Fisher makes the Bears automatically better. What has Fisher done that Lovie hasn't? Is Jeff Fisher a better football coach? I guess I would agree that he is, but it's also a good point that he hasn't done anything Lovie hasn't. They're both similar, conservative-style football coaches who have always seemed to come up a little short. I hope the Bears go in a different direction than Lovie, but I don't know that Fisher would be where I would turn.
  23. Very true. The Bears pretty much dominated this football game other than a brief span in the first half.
  24. It will be interesting to see what people say, now that they can no longer say the Bears haven't beaten anybody.
  25. Please. You don't review it because it shouldn't be reviewed. Knox recovered the onside kick. Done.
