  1. McCarthy wasn't the one who grabbed a facemask at the absolute worst time. I agree, I'm just sick of the awful play calling and terrible game management. His record in close games is atrocious. Get someone in there who can win close games, and we could be looking at a Lombardi trophy with Grant, and Finley coming back next year. You're upset, which is understandable, but if you want to hang this loss on someone you should hang it squarely on the idiot who committed one of the most obvious, blatant facemask penalties I have ever seen in over 30 years of watching football -- and at the very worst possible moment imaginable.
  2. I don't think McCarthy is even close to being in trouble.
  3. It's amazing how some teams just can't get out of their own way. The Bills had an easy chance to at least tie the Steelers, and a tipped ball gets intercepted. If it's not the Bills? Probably drops harmlessly and the game is tied. They've got one more shot to get into FG range and tie it here. Let's see how the football gods conspire to destroy them.
  4. Hah
  5. Wow is that as far as Eli can throw it?
  6. The level of badness in Carolina is becoming noteworthy.
  7. Should have challenged.
  8. They're getting to Ryan.
  9. That's what ATL wants to do. Giving up yardage isn't all that important. Keeping the Pack out of the end zone is.
  10. Mooch is talking about McCoy as the X factor in this game for the Eagles. He could be right -- I'm a little worried about short passes underneath to him where he runs for an additional 20 yac.
  11. I think you (and everyone else) is selling the Bears way too short. All those teams are even or 1-game better than the Bears in record. Yet, the Bears are the only one of those teams that get picked against every week unless they are playing a cupcake. And even still, you can only give them a "maybe" over a Minnesota team they beat soundly a couple weeks ago. All 4 of those teams have bad losses and all 4 have shaky wins. The Bears get 3 of those 4 games at home, and the other where they've had success in recent history. I think 3-3 is most likely, but wouldn't be surprised to see them win today and one of the AFC East games. I think the Jets have had to rely on way too much of the other team blowing up late in order to be considered a sure thing against the Bears. Plug the Bears defense in against them last week, for example, and I highly doubt that final drive happens. That's why I point to NYJ as that 3rd game. DET will find a way to beat themselves. MIN could beat the Bears @ home, but I think the Bears go up there and get it done.
  12. Maybe NYJ, we'll see.
  13. That's pretty damn good company to keep.
  14. not really. he's a rookie who was drafted in the 4th round and has played mostly on special teams. i mean, he probably sucks, but it's hard to make that judgment right now. Yeah, and it might not matter if they can get to Cutler up front on enough pass plays. The thing is, if someone can get up on the Bears by more than a TD I think the pressure to do more deep-drop pass plays will increase. I don't think we've really seen that in recent weeks because our D has been really good. The score has been close, we've been able to run the ball, do our roll outs / quick drops. That formula has really worked for us. But we haven't seen what will happen if someone hits us in the mouth early and we need to try to score points. I suspect Martz will try to dial up deeper pass plays, and the OLine can't really hold up to that.
  15. You'd know who he is if he was anything better than terrible. Maybe the Bears don't have world beaters at WR but they have enough speed to blow up depth chart guys if they aren't on top of their assignments. That said, I'm expecting a loss today for the Bears. Too much Vick for the D, with too many receiving options for the Bears secondary to keep under control. On O, pressure defense will likely blow up Cutler on enough plays to keep us from being able to stay close on the scoreboard. I'll go: Eagles 27 Bears 13
  16. The capper to a nice night. Hawks/Bulls both win, pretty good Circus trips this year. Feelin' good about things at the moment on the Madhouse front.
  17. He doesn't need to be a free spender to be successful. We all know that. I actually don't mind his attempts to build up the ballpark, the system, the ST facilities, etc. That's all good stuff, IMO. I really wonder about his decision to keep Hendry in place. It feels like he's punting on a big decision when he should be aggressively acting to change the philosophy of how the big club is run. Especially if he wants to match up with a lower-payroll strategy, which it looks like he is attempting to do. I don't want to be sitting here 5 years from now, changing GMs after a bunch of wasted years because Ricketts finally figured out that Jim can't win without a very loose purse. I'd rather make that change now, up front...
  18. Quite enjoyable.
  19. Winning record on the road trip!
  20. Mwahahah. Rose is finger lickin' good.
  21. A foul, I SHOULD THINK SO. Geez. Are they allowed to perform linebacker blocks on our guys with no foul called or something?
  22. Damn I thought that was going to be a nice slamdown on the quick pass. Just keep playing the D. They can't hang with us late if we make them look that pathetic on shots.
  23. Where we at? 7 down heading into the 4th? It can be done.
  24. Lay down big bucks for showers of champagne. Win a hockey game easily. Women all over the place. I chose the wrong career.
  25. Michigan is simply not interested in playing defense.
