  1. Lol 40 million
  2. Ugh, all this pre-game analysis and blah blah needs to go away. It's 7:35pm, start the game already. If I want to hear Jaws break down plays I can watch a bunch of other shows where he does that. IMO they should be kicking off immediately for the start time of these broadcasts. The pre-game junk is old. Does anyone else really find value in this? It's mostly just rehashed junk everyone already knows anyway.
  3. Well yeah, but it's a very obvious way to go for Northwestern to market themselves that way. They aren't going to say "root for us please even though we're outside the city limits."
  4. He might be great with other players, though, where he was terrible with the media. They'd be asking him for advice where everyone on the outside was asking him about drugs. I think I'd hire him. I'm not sure I believe he wants to be a mere hitting coach though.
  5. This doesn't sound like Ryno is being a baby to me. Although I agree with the sentiment that Ryne Sandberg the person isn't as impressive as Ryne Sandberg the player was.
  6. So it's not full of performance escalators, and they're just going to hand McNabb $40 million?
  7. He's been pretty bad this season, so I guess that's warranted. I'll want to see what, if any, performance provisions are in play with that contract.
  8. Could have happened already with no Favre. I find it interesting that Childress wasn't fired this morning. Especially in light of what happened with the Cowboys yesterday. I'm not saying they should follow some other team and just copy them, but it's pretty clear a boost in performance is possible with a coaching change, and the Vikings really need that right now, and Frazier is a very solid candidate. To me that's a formula that should have added up to an 8am report that Childress is gone. But nope. They just signed him to an extension. Yeah. Cost of doing business. When a guy has to go, he has to go.
  9. I mean, it's jsonline.

  11. Exactly. It's the grain of salt that needs to be taken with each dose of these national media reports. None of these guys are going to have in depth knowledge of each team. Even if they did, the NFL is just too unpredictable. They'd still get a lot of it wrong. I do find it interesting what they say because it gives a view of what outside opinion might be regarding my team. But that's about it.
  12. On the Phins QB situation: I agree with the position that with Miami, it's not really the QB driving them anyway. Thigpen may suck, but they won't try to build a gameplan around what he does. Most likely we'll see a heavy dose of running and wildcat, with Thigpen throwing the ball to keep us honest. On a positive note I think run D is still our strongpoint, so hopefully we can stop a lot of that stuff. This should turn out to be a close game with scoring that is on the low side.
  13. He broke the kickers' ankles off on that kick return, too. For some reason that makes me giggle like a kid. Kicker vs. Hester. Now that is entertainment.
  14. The funny thing is, I figured it would be the Packers who would suffer from a declining Favre vs. the legend vs. not wanting to let go, etc. Turns out to be the Vikings instead. Which is just fine with me.
  15. Yeah he appears to want it both ways now. On the one hand, he won't take himself out because of his precious streak. On the other hand, most of the time he simply sucks now. You can't force yourself on a team when you blow chunks and then blame it on injuries. The simple solution is, if you can't cut it then don't play, Brett. But he can't do that. Another awesome thing to behold is how trapped all of this had made Childress. He freely hitched his wagon to the Favre express only to find out once you do that, there's no escape :) LOL, the Vikings are great entertainment.
  16. Yeah, that's the thing. I can't deny cheering when it benefits my team. But stepping back from it, I would like to see the huge reversals happen less often -- on the really obvious violations. It's a little more difficult than that, of course, because we're asking refs to make judgement calls out there and then arguing after the fact about whether it should have been judged that way.
  17. They gave up 155 to the Jets in Week 4. They gave up 122 to the Pats a few weeks ago, but not quite 130. Yeah our run defense has been a shadow of it's former self this year. It really took a dive quickly. Williams wall finally off the juice? LOL, I was thinking the same but didn't want to anger hawkeye :) Since you said it though...........
  18. I doubt the Sox fans in power will allow this to happen, but nice try Tom.
  19. How? Smith threw up a wounded duck with his receiver 10 yards away from the ball and Atogwe ran into him. I agree I thought that was a terrible call. Both the WR and Atogwe are running to the near sideline. Smith throws the ball 10 yards behind him on the hash. So just because Atogwe isn't able to stop on a dime and immediately change directions that's PI? There's no way the WR was going to get to that ball. On a lot of these, I would prefer no calls. Trouble is, I can't quantify which ones I'd like to see a no call and which ones I wouldn't. I guess my main objection is becoming that we're seeing flags on way too many huge TDs or big plays. It just feels like there's always going to be a flag, and I don't remember feeling that way years back. I prefer not feeling like there's always going to be a huge reversal on a flag all the time. I don't watch football to see refs throw flags. Heck, I'd prefer we computerize the whole thing and get the refs off the field entirely, if that were possible. The best ref is the one we hear from less often, and when we do, there's no doubt about the call, IMHO.
  20. Depending on the tests today, this could wind up being just an unbelievably fortunate set of breaks for the Bears. I shouldn't have to say it, but I'm not rooting for injuries -- it still would be fortunate.
  21. Sounds like one of General Zod's lieutenants in Superman II.
  22. I'm just gonna enjoy this one tonight. I'll worry about what a Thigpen-led Phins squad can & can't do tomorrow :) We played solid football today! I'm a happy Bear fan.
  23. Is every TD in the NFL going to be called back on a flag? Let them play for a change, geez
  24. Wow that was the most satisfying Bear win in a long time. Favre on the podium heaping praise on the Bears D, over the years. Pretty classy IMO
  25. Go ahead goose bring your blitz. That's what happens. And that is a TD, no definitive proof or angle.
