  1. How can you possibly allow a 30 yard run, 2nd and goal from the 30?
  2. I'd assume that if Theo was 95% wanting to stay in Boston he wouldn't risk hurting his standing among Sox fans by interviewing with the Cubs and then staying in Boston. Maybe they're just keeping the permission close to the vest so that this scenario doesn't happen. I don't know though. Like some others, I would just like to hear the "no" sooner rather than later, if that's what it will be. Then we can focus on others.
  3. Halftime analysis of the year: "I think I'd cover Jenkins."
  4. I'd say any time Illinois gets Jenkins 1-on-1 it should be a fly pattern and an automatic throw his way.
  5. Being able to read the expletives truly is the biggest benefit to being a mod. Hah. Oh hey look, Cardinals with a tarp behind them and champagne bottles. *reaches for remote* Bye bye.
  6. Yeah, nice job Braves. Thanks for your collapse, now we get to watch this crap.
  7. God. Just. God.
  8. Ready to be dismissed early again, Philly? Here comes the pain...
  9. When your offense is sucking, start waving towels in desperation.
  10. This belongs on cubs.com I vote thread deletion. With prejudice.
  11. Should've listened to wifey, in retrospect. Quick! Might be able to catch the 10:00pm round of showings.
  12. Can't cash in on power plays. Damn it.
  13. They've got to be on the short list for most non-descript/boring playoff team ever.
  14. Oh wow. If it's the Cubs, Axford becomes Bartman and it's a cluster [expletive] for decades.
  15. It's true. And it's funny to say that, considering he's a gm and we've had 100-page threads about people like brian roberts and jake peavy. Putting it all in context, it's almost scary to think about what would happen if someone ever gave us a consistently excellent team. One thing I can think of that would happen is I'd be willing to load up 100 ticketmaster pages to try to score seats again. Haven't cared to go through that for a couple years now. And haven't missed it. Yes, I think acquiring Epstein would be hugely significant, and very exciting. I hope it happens.
  16. It's like wading through a pool of maple syrup that has been brought down to near freezing. I wonder if these extra scripts they installed are logging too much, slowing everything down. The random SQL errors are gone though!
  17. Alright, I understand that N&G. How about if I just say that I personally would feel bad revealing such details, and then just leave it at that? I just think about family members who have to read something like that. I couldn't do it to them. That's why I'm not a journalist, and would make a horrible one if I tried. I definitely admit bias in this matter. I can't help it, when it comes to Payton. After looking around a bit, I see that Pearlman, for his part, doesn't feel it's a negative book at all.
  18. Huh. Kind of like when the Bulls hired Del Negro. Does Reinsdorf tell his underlings to do this?
  19. Wow, the opener is tonight already.
  20. Pretty cool to not have either the Yanks or Red Sox in the playoffs. I am now more interested.
  21. And now we're back to the line of thinking that makes no damn sense to me. You're trying to phrase it so it sounds like he's potentially doing something wrong...for getting money from writing a biography. It's not a slam job or an attempt to slander Payton. It's a documentation of his life and some of the things that happened in his life are "negative." The caveat of it being about a "a guy who can no longer defend himself" is clearly an effort to paint the writing and publishing of this book in a negative light and is a completely redundant and ridiculous thing to say. Again, most biographies are about dead people. Pointing out that this one is also about someone who is dead isn't a negative mark against Pearlman or the publishers, and if you think it is, well, quite frankly, you're wrong, and it's a wholly unrealistic expectation. Yes, I get that you don't want to read the book, and that's great. But stop trying to make it sound like the author did something wrong. Your line of thinking appears to be that because others do it, it's OK for Pearlman to as well. I disagree. There are levels of "wrong." I'm not saying Pearlman should be brought up on charges or anything. I am saying that I personally would never do something like this, and it definitely feels wrong/bad/not good -- whatever -- to me.
  22. Trying to divine all the behind the scenes activity is probably a losing battle. I'm looking forward to the resolution. It's pretty hard to figure out all the conversations, dealings, etc. If Epstein is coming to Chicago, I'd like it to be settled fairly quicky. Let's not have this thing drag on into the Christmas Holidays, please. Get it done, or axe it, please.
  23. I'm literally drunk with Yankee pain tonight. That's all I care about until I need to go to work tomorrow morning :)
  24. Surely it's "when" and not "if."
