The most boring of the bunch, without question. But I hate the Pats and Giants. I'm conflicted. 49ers/Ravens would probably be pretty damn boring for a Super Bowl, but I'd like to not see either the Pats or Giants.

If they denied permission for Hoke to interview, then I don't see why they would grant permission for Tice to interview. I'm assuming they denied Hoke permission because they don't want to deal with more coaching complications......the same reasoning would surely apply to Tice.

Isn't that exactly what happened with Matt Cassel? He was franchised, signed to a one year, deal, traded, and extended all in one offseason. Exactly what happened. This is not a new situation. Not sure why people can't grasp the situation. It is probably my lack of paying attention to the NFL off season that causes my lack of grasping. The difference for me is that Cassel had an entire season to showcase, versus much less for Flynn. But maybe this is the way it will work out. I'd hate for the Pack to wind up with some juicy extra picks for Flynn. That would kind of suck for us. You can't underestimate teams that have no QB and are desperate for one who they don't perceive as needing much development. Since Flynn has had time in one of the best QB stomping grounds in the NFL, a team like Cleveland is going to look at that just like we would if we didn't have Cutler: here's a guy who might be a ready-made solution.

I didn't expect that they would. I was surprised, though, that they bothered to take an e-mail that made legitimate points and blatantly misrepresent what it said. I'm sure they had an inbox full of e-mails that would have served his purposes without any need for misrepresentation. Maybe they get off on distorting people's comments. More likely, their inbox is full of stuff that is barely readable. If you bothered to construct complete sentences, it was probably enough to make it stand out. -
Wonder what happened....after the last game he said that the toe was completely better and wasn't an issue anymore. Guess thats what happens when you play the entire 2nd half against a [expletive] raptors team on a back to back. I read a quote where he said he thought it was gone but it keeps coming back and it's a little frustrating.

This is as good a game as any to rest him. And they've got to rest him.

I'm hoping for a couple closer, watchable games and I think we'll get 'em. I'll go 24-20 Pats, and 27-20 Giants.

Eh, maybe it was a pseudo-choke job. Some people picked the Giants in this one. Despite the records it was going to be a good game. Between beating the Pats in the Super Bowl and now this, the Giants seem to be the team that pulls off this kind of win.

Do you really care about this subject, or did you just drudge up something to pretend to care about because you were bored? He's an old Cub. They signed him to a 1 year deal for a few million. Big deal.

But even with more health on that side of the ball the results didn't turn out better. That's.......a bit confusing. The Gnats exposed some big holes that have been brewing for awhile. And Rodgers was very, very human for the first time in a long time today. He was. The Giants had a great game plan. Honestly, the defense was baffling to me. Last year with so many key guys out it was so good, and this year being relatively healthy it completely sucked. Something needs to be done, but I have no idea what that "something" is. Pray that Nick Collins can come back, sign someone like Calais Campbell or Mario Williams, and draft a whole lot of defense. That's about all you can do. I think this year showed how important Collins and Cullen Jenkins were on last season's team. From a Bear fan's perspective: I think the Pack is married to being a great offensive team. Every team needs to make sacrifices at certain positions. Nobody has the complete dominant roster. The goal for defense should be mid-range, in the 15-ish ranking. Don't neglect offense, especially the ability to protect Rodgers. And give him a quarter or a quarter-and-a-half in that meaningless final game, if it comes to that.

It's not about franchising Flynn for the sake of keeping him. With as bad as our defense is, it's a gamble that should be made to get some extra picks instead of just holding out for the conditional 3rd or 4th round pick the following year. I've done a complete 180 on who the Packers should franchise. I thought Finley should have received the tag, but there are five gigantic black spots on our defense right now. We need as many draft picks as possible to shore that up and trading Flynn to a team that actually needs a QB probably makes the most sense. It's a gamble but some team will trade for Flynn, whether it be Seattle, Washington, Cleveland, etc. OK, hey what do I know? I sure wouldn't want to be stuck with the bill if the suitors don't come calling.

Cassel. Granted, it didn't turn out well for KC. Yeah, although that's a bit different.

Yeah, I just think the perspective of a team like GB, who knows how to develop talent at that position, is going to be different than other teams in this situation. Has a team ever franchised a backup QB before? That seems a rather extreme move to make, considering that the organization has a proven ability to develop and, after all, Flynn performed well in one game plus a smattering of other appearances.

I think they'll franchise Flynn to try and trade him. They'd get a pretty high comp pick if Finley leaves anyway. What? They'd franchise a backup QB for top-dollar money? What if he isn't traded? I don't think they're taking that risk. If they can train Flynn to be a decent QB, they can train up any number of others to fill that role. Green Bay knows how to develop QBs. They aren't pining for QB talent. They create it.

It shouldn't be a surprise that they would hire an OC before the GM, as hiring the coaching staff is what the head coach does and the Bears made it very clear Lovie hires his coaches. I see no reason to wait for a GM to be hired to give input. Mostly because I don't think Lovie is the best guy to be constructing our offensive coaching without much help... I understand what you're saying, and I certainly don't hate Lovie, but this isn't an ideal situation.

I agree, and it's the reason we should wipe out Anoka, Washington and Chisago counties I was going to say, the exception appears to be primarily......Minnesota :)

Well that's not confusing or anything. When was that tweet? The trib, Biggs I think, already wrote an article about Olson interviewing for the job this week. Not sure TODAY needed to be emphasized. Anyway, he was QB coach with the Bears under Jauron, and has been TB's OC. He was around when Freeman emerged as a solid QB, but also around when he regressed into garbage. Overall he ran a pretty horrible offense in his tenure there. He may be qualified, but I think he's a completely uninspring selection. Yeah, don't know why he would be picked over the guys that have worked with Cutler before if there's even a question. Bates and Fisch at least come from big time offensive roots. I think "today" was emphasized because it's a surprise that we wouldn't wait until the GM is hired to do this. Should that person have at least some input on the decision, working with Lovie?

I'll take Ross. Good GMs have to start somewhere. Maybe one of these guys is ready to make the leap.

At least there's a list now, so we can dispense with the idea that the Bears aren't doing anything. Sounds like this would be a major step up for any of these guys.
