  1. I just flipped over to the Cards/Mets game during halftime of the women's game, realized Joe Buck was announcing and decided I'd just watch this thread instead of putting myself through the torture. Be sure to keep my updated fellas. :D
  2. I've come to expect Opening Day losses. And I wasn't being force fed the Cub loss on every sports channel around either. Everywhere I turn it's how wonderful Florida is. Screw the Gators. =D> Couldn't have said it better myself.
  3. Yeah, after looking at those batter/pitcher matchups I'm not too enthusiastic either. Let's hope they can drive up Arroyo's pitch count and get him out early. Enough with your pessimism. Tomorrow will be the first game I'll get to watch since I get off at noon and I am very optimistic about pulling back to .500. I predict Lilly's first win, going six innings allowing only one run. :D
  4. Well, in fairness-he's a fan of their rival. It's a lot easier to shake off one baseball loss than to hear your rival talk all the next year about their 3 titles in just over a year. Oh. I thought he was talking about the Marlins.  Oops, my bad. I meant the Gators' National Championship last night.

  7. There would be little better to wash out the horrible taste of Flordia's win last night than for the Cards to start 0-2 and the Lady Vols to win the National Title in the same night! :D Speaking of the ladies game...WHAT THE HELL is up with the tri-screen that espn has going on. it's so far beyond annoying... They've got it on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. It's in a different format on each channel. Those non-traditional views are pretty cool for a while, but they do become annoying. I'm watching exclusively on ESPN.

  9. Eh..it's ok. I'm not overly impressed with his numbers, aside from the fact that he's got a ton of range. 62-85 from 40+yds and 14-30 from 50+yds. Jon Carney was getting old. I think he was 43 or something, so even though he's very good, he's becoming a liability due to his age. So I guess it's an ok pickup. It's just a sixth rounder, so it's not like you're giving up much in any case. I've always liked Mare, though I'll admit I don't know his numbers real well.
  10. Very nice pick. He's a sick all purpose secondary player. Super athlete. With the 27th Pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Greg Olsen, TE, from the University of Miami. Clearly the Saints biggest need is at the cornerback position, where Freddie Thomas needs to be put out to pasture after his abysmal season last year where he gave up 14 TD's. 10 of which were over 25 yard passes. However, the Saints still feel that they can address this need via free agency or via a later round as high end CB rookies are notoriously bad as it takes a few years to be a good NFL CB. Thus, the Saints choose to fill the only hole in their offense: TE. At 6'5, 250lbs+, and running a 4.5, Olsen gives Brees a fast and big target that can stretch defenses that are already stretched out due to the speed of Reggie Bush and Deverey Henderson. I've got to ask what you think about picking up Olindo Mare from the Dolphins for a sixth round pick.
  11. What is it with Carr and Tuiasosopo and other retreads that we're considering? Draft someone in the third or fourth round or something. Besides, if we add Carr, then there'll be the inevitable three weeks when Delhomme sucks and everyone thinks "gee, maybe Carr can play". He's had better than a 60% completion percentage each of the last three years and he's been pretty steadily improving it (career high 68% last season). His TD:INT ratio hasn't been real good, but I blame that more on lack of talent around him than his being a retread. He's probably much better than any player you could get in the third or fourth round. Tuiasosopo, on the other hand, is a retread. He's probably better than Delhomme. That's not all that comforting for a Panthers' fan though. The case can defenitely be made. With far superior talent around him, Delhomme has completed 60 and 61 percent of his passes the last two years respectively while having a +3, +14, +8 and +6 TD:INT ratio each of the last four years. He's probably better, but it's hard to say for sure because Carr has had inferior players around him. This would be a very good signing for the Panthers should they grab Carr. EDIT: Plus, Delhomme is 32 while Carr is 27 (28 later this year).
  12. I hope they offer that to the Titans, I'd take it in a heartbeat. :D
  13. As the other resident Titans fan, I feel a bigger need is at WR. They have absolutely no depth there and I can almost definitely see them taking Meachem or Jarrett. Though, nothing against your pick. They do need a good pass rusher. What we really needed to do was bring back Bennett, but I'm not terribly upset after seeing the contract he signed. It'll be tough for us to compete next season, I'm afraid. Yeah, I cried a little when I saw that Bennett signed with the Rams. I'll admit it. He was my favorite Titan. At this point, Vince Young has no one to throw to. Heck, even Bobby Wade left (signed with my other favorite team, the Vikings, who I'm drafting for). BRANDON JONES He's actually played fairly well for us and I think he'll develop into a second or third receiver. Problem is, right now he's our #1 and that's just too high.

In my opinion the loss that hurt us the most was Travis Henry. I really think he could have been very valuable next season since Vince 1. won't have anyone to throw to and 2. isn't a great passer at this point anyway. I'm extremely worried about LenDale carrying the whole load and don't like the idea of spending two picks on another running back (Michael Turner). We had the money, we should have kept Travis. I know, that was dumb. We should have held on to him. He really helped take the weight off Young's shoulders last year. LenDale is overweight again and doesn't have the attitude and motivation needed. Now I see Chris Brown might re-sign, but I thought he hated it here. Nonetheless, we should have kept Henry. At this point I wouldn't mind having Chris Brown back, but I'm surprised he and the club didn't burn too many bridges. I have to say, I'm not thrilled with the Reinfeldt era right now.

Though, nothing against your pick. They do need a good pass rusher. I thought about putting Meachem #1 over Carriker, but because of the horrible defense last year I decided to go there first. The drop off between the 1st and 2nd rounds for DEs and WRs also influenced my decision. There is a good possibility of Steve Smith, Jason Hill, and Sidney Rice still being there in the 2nd round. They are the reason I'm very tempted to prefer defense in the first round, but I think the guys in the first round (Bowe, Calvin, Meachem, Ginn) are more likely to have more of an impact now. The others still have some developing to do.

  18. I like Carriker, but I feel if we go for an end it should be Charles Johnson. Maybe its because I've seen more of him, but I've been more impressed by him than Carriker. As far as prioritizing needs, I'd say number one need is receiver. David Givens hasn't been healthy since he put on a Titan uniform and Drew Bennett is now a Ram, so the best receiver we have active is Brandon Jones. I would absolutely love to see us trade up to the top of the draft and grab Calvin Johnson, but understand that is very highly unlikely. Realistically I want either Meachem or Ginn. I don't like Jarrett one bit - especially after his horrendous offseason - and think Meachem can be a similar receiver to Donte Stallworth (a healthy version) and Ginn would not only be an offensive playmaker but also make up for the likelihood of losing Pacman on special teams. I'd go either end or corner in the second round.
  19. With the 20th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select LB from Penn State Paul Posluszny. The Giants desperately need help at both CB and LB and with the top two corners on my board gone, this pick becomes easy. I really wanted Willis here, but realized that was a pipedream, so Poz was the second linebacker on the list even despite his knee injury (which I don't think will hinder him long-term). An added plus is that he can play either outside or inside, which gives the Giants more versatility as they need help at both spots. Jazz and the Broncos at the 21st pick are now on the clock.
  20. I don't think I can handle three straight national titles for Florida. Either UCLA needs to make a great comeback or OSU needs to find a way to win Monday night. Just as I say that, UCLA comes to within 14.
  21. You've gotta know CBS is just eating up a Florida/OSU rematch. Especially since Florida is likely to roll again. I just wonder who they're going to call ticky tack fouls against should they make that game happen.
  22. Their combined ugliness so close to each other shocked the refs so much that they were unable to blow the whistle for a foul call. I really hate Florida by the way.
  23. Oh boy. The two guys that I wanted the most at #16 (besides Peterson, if he were to fall that far). Pretty pathetic, and that's a severe understatement, to only score a 12 and a 13 on the Wonderlic. It doesn't mean too much. Vince scored less than that last year and he had a pretty good year. The Wonderlic is only one of many tools to give an idea about a kid, I don't put much stock in it. I thought he scored a 16 the first time, and in the 20's the 2nd time. I think you're right, actually. I was remembering the rumors that he made a 6 on it the first time. My point still stands though, even if you can't calculate when a train will arrive at a destination when its going X speed, it doesn't mean you can't play football.
  24. I like Turner, but I'm not sure I want to give up our first round pick to get him (definitely not our first and third). If they're that unsure about LenDale, they need to trade up and take Peterson. Either way, I'd much rather see us play LenDale - who we used a 2nd round pick on - and use the first on either DLine or corner.
