  1. Out of my hands if someone responds to the 5 font portion that's unrelated rather than the normal font that's directly related. I think this whole issue could be settled if we all agreed to talk only about Tennessee. :D We're going to beat OSU tonight by the way. 8-)
  2. I'm at work and don't have time to go through all threads so if this has been discussed I'm sorry and mods can go ahead and lock this. This is quite interesting in my opinion. With jobs like Iowa and Michigan open, he takes the Gophers. Good move for them. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2808406
  3. Even if he becomes a very good starter, the Texans have the 26 year old QB for maybe 7 good years while the Falcons will have the opportunity to take two extra potentially great starters as well as now having the opportunity to get LaRon Landry while the Texans just blew their opportunity to grab Peterson. I agree it seems like a lot on the surface, but you can just as easily say Schaub could potentially turn into the greatest QB in NFL history as say the Falcons can potentially take great starters. There are absolutely no guarantees in the draft. I agree there are no guarantees, but the chances of taking two good starters (I'll admit great was an exaggeration) with very high second round picks is much higher than a 26 year old QB becoming incredible (which is what Schaub will have to do to justify this deal). I felt like on age alone, Schaub didn't justify more than a first round pick and even then not a top 10. No way is he close to worth two second rounders and dropping two spots in the top 10 - putting you out of the race for the far and away best RB in the draft. Don't get me wrong, I like this deal as a Falcons fan. I just don't think it's that lopsided. I fail to see how dropping from 8th to 10 takes houston out of the run for AP. The Falcons aren't going to draft a RB and neither are the Dolphins. I guess it's possible someone trades up with the Fins to grab him, but I don't think its incredibly likely. I could easily see the Dolphins trading down for extra picks. They're an old team and have multiple needs for young players. Buffalo and Green Bay are potentially teams that could look to trade up and the cost will likely be less now that they'll be looking to move to 9 instead of 7. Every spot in the top 10 is very valuable and the difference in one or two spots is tremendous. It may not take them completely out of it, but moving down added to giving up two second round picks is ridiculous.

  5. I heard that they had Lynch over Peterson on their draft board. I don't even know what to say or how to react at this point. They are worse than I ever could have imagined.
  6. I think this trade makes the chances of Schaub developing into a great QB less likely now because they just severely damaged their ability to draft O-linemen. After saying that, I think they have to take Blalock with their first rounder now - even if that is a reach.

  8. Wow, the worst FO in football(even worse than Millen IMO)   :?: #-o :-s :-k I think that covers all the emotions I'm feeling for Texan fans right now. That is a pitifully bad trade. Moving down from a few spots in the top 10 and giving up their next two 2nd rounders? Sad, very very sad.
  9.  If true, abysmally bad for Houston. It is just a rumor I heard on another board, I hope it isn't true(for the Texans sake...poor fans) I can't believe they would make that kind of mistake.
  10.  If true, abysmally bad for Houston.
  11. Speaking of history, this is the Texans and I'm confident this move(like many things they have done will go down the toilet for them). I guess they don't understand the concept of an Oline and running game. Good point on them being the Texans, but I still stand by what I said before that if Peterson falls to them and they take him, the AD/Mario Williams duo is better than Reggie Bush/any DE in this draft. It's true, though, that their line has gone from atrocious to terrible since last year and they really haven't improved (that I've seen) in the offseason.
  12. Any QB in this draft beyond JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn is likely a two-three year project before they'll be ready to start and then there's reason to believe they won't be any good. Schaub on the other hand, while costing more, should be better developed than the draftees and should be able to start now and succeed.
  13. Lots of people think Schaub could start for most teams. Hell, a lot of people think Schaub should start for his current team. And he sure has an impressive career resume of 6TD's and a 69 rating to back it up. This guy has been living off a few lights out preseason performances. All hype. I hate to pull out the two word argument, but: Sample. Size. Then how does that sample size prove that Schaub is an upgrade over Carr or even Delhomme for that matter? It doesn't prove anything either way. The reason so many people are high on Schaub is that scouts who have watched him have raved on his abilities and he is a very fundamentally sound QB. Now does that guarantee anything? No, but Carr has too much of a history in Houston - as CubColtPacer said - to turn things around now. That's likely the key to this trade.
  14. Until he holds out and demands to be the highest paid safety again. :D
  15. And after today's Florida game, I want to add Bill Raftery and Verne Lundquist (well-renounced for his deep and blatant love of all things University of Florida sports). I have to say though, I like both pretty well when they're not doing Florida games. I voted for Buck by the way. Can't stand listening to the man.
  16. I agree, it's not like he's a .220 hitter with no power. Unless you get an offer that will definitely help the team, keep him and spot start Derosa in RF. Floyd is a total butcher in RF especially with bad legs. Use Floyd as a spot starter in LF and backup for Lee. Theriot should play 2B if Derosa is in RF. I would think that if Pie is ready at midseason, there will be a better market for Jones, especially in a package if other players (Miller, Marshall, Cedeno, Dempster) become expendable. Not sure if I missed something but I think Ward is the likely primary backup at first. Otherwise, I agree with everything you said.
  17. This worries me! I feel like Hendry will overrule some of the roster decisons (read Cotts). I don't read it quite as that-it is more that Lou is saying that if they make the squad, that won't worry him-but there simply might not be enough room, especially for both of them at the same time. I agree. I also don't think Lou would have signed on without having a considerable amount of power and sway. He didn't need the job, so I doubt he would take one where he didn't have some authority and people could overrule him without his input.
  18. I wish they would switch to that close game. They did here. I figured they switched nationally since this is the only close game.
  19. If Texas doesn't come back, my bracket is completely screwed. :( Come on Longhorns.
  20. I still don't see how you can be rooting for USC. I mean, conference allegiances I understand but they can only go so far. I don't understand rooting for a bitter rival. I don't think Illinois fans were rooting for Indiana against UCLA yesterday. I root for all SEC teams in bowl games or the tournament except Florida. I can never, ever bring myself to root for them unless it direct and unquestionably helps Tennessee.
  21. Before I changed it at the last second, I had the Badgers beating Texas for the National Title. Would have been horrendous.
  22. I think it will be the same as the MSC-UNC game, with Kentucky in it till there are about 10 minutes left. I don't think Kentucky can score enough to stay with Kansas and the Jayhawks will win by 20. I'd say Randolph Morris has to have a great game for Kentucky to have a shot.
  23. I'm in the 46,000 range, but I'm 14th in the league points-wise. EDIT: I did horribly in the first round, but have only missed a couple second round games so far. These past two days have really pulled me back up.
  24. Let's go Memphis! One of my final fours!
  25. No, a few of us are rooting for them to lose. :D
