  1. That's BS. Yeah, he blew that call terribly. But is it his fault that the NFL has the absurdly terrible rule that incomplete passes aren't reviewable? He's one of the better refs in the league. He got one wrong. It happens. And I think I'm the last remaining Rams fan. I guess I know how the Lorax felt... (Good God, the Rams are terrible.) NFL refs are always graded down for bad calls. It's a little silly that this grade-down was reported as news. It was reported because it was such a high profile missed call. Not sure I like it being reported when no others were, but they reported it because the call came at such a critical time. But yeah, refs get graded down for missing much more innocuous calls such as holding in the middle of the line - this was no surprise at all.

He made a mistake in a pretty critical situation and probably cost the Chargers the game. With that in mind, I don't have a problem with him getting graded down. Now, he should still be in line for the playoffs and Super Bowl barring more mistakes. He is still one of the best out there.
  3. Well here's the thing...Collins doesn't need to play that well...Your playing the Matt Schaub I pass every time to Andre Johnson have no running game or offensive line Texans. I'm sure the Tennessee which is one of the more underrated defense's will be just fine. That Houston team can be deceptively good though. We haven't seen enough of them to know how good they are this year, but they're almost certainly better than last year. Kerry just needs to manage the game - CJ and LenDale can do the rest. I'm hoping Cortland Finnegan can handle Andre Johnson as well as he's handled Ocho Cinco (still weird saying that) and whoever the top Jag wide receiver is. Yeah thats all I was saying Collins just needs to manage the game well and let the running game take over. More like the defense. That defense is why they can win with a bad offense. It's not a bad offense - it's just not very explosive. It gets the job done (scoring 14-17 a game) while the defense actually wins games. Semantics I know, but still, it's not bad. :D

  5. Howry Free Agency? That's a good guess - but it's home field advantage, I'm pretty sure. :D
  6. i had to read this a couple of times to make sure i wasn't missing something. i didn't think anyone, let alone a major league manager, could be stupid enough to IBB a lefty batter against a lefty specialist so that the lefty specialist can face a RH batter who hammers lefties. It almost seems like Yost just didn't care anymore. Either that or he's literally [expletive]. Or maybe it's both. This was so far out there and sounded so ridiculous I had to look into it a bit more. In fairness to Yost(I can't believe I just said that), Burrell batted .181 in August and he's batting .194 in September. His OBP is under .300 since July. Conversely, Howard is batting .354 in September with a .917 slugging percentage and has been spraying the balls to all parts of the field against both RHP and LHP . So you can see why he would rather face Burrell than the hot hitting Ryan Howard. The choice here was between career numbers versus recent numbers. Yost went with the recent numbers and it didn't work this time. Still. This doesn't take into account the studlines of Shouse against LHP. That's far and away the most egregious part of it. It's a pretty stupid move either way, but it's at least understandable with the recent numbers and if he had a righty (or lefty without extreme splits) on the mound. Given that he had a pitcher who specializes in getting lefties out, it's senseless to walk any left to get to a righty.
  7. It's really stupid. The Cubs have a huge national fanbase - larger than almost any other team - and yet, they show Z's no-hitter each time on Chicago-only television. If they had shown the original game on WGN America and the replay on Chicago-only, that'd make much more sense. This is completely illogical, though. Especially with the utter crap they play on WGN America otherwise. Of course, it has no effect on me. I'll be covering high school games at the time anyway.
  8. Ed Hochuli, who made the bad call on the fumble in the Denver/SD game, has been graded down because of that game. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3589407
  9. Houston worries me, but I think we're solidly a better team. Kerry needs to just stay conservative and look for CJ, Alge and Scaife in the short passing game. I'm expecting good games from both CJ and LenDale on the ground. Defensively, I think our D-line can contain their running game and we need to focus on covering the likes of Andre Johnson. Titans go to 3-0 with a 17-10 win.
  10. That's about the only thing I'd change to truly make it a dream scenario. :D Actually, I'd like to see Yost go to Cincy to replace Dusty. Cincy's talent worries me more in the coming years than the Cardinals, so let's keep a bad manager there to ruin it. This is an excellent suggestion. I hate the Cardinals more, but the Reds do have more young talent for Yost to corrupt. Cincy's had a lot of "young talent" for the past 52 years and we're all supposed to be worried when they finally get it together. Every year. Since 1841. I don't know, those 1882 Red Stockings were pretty awesome with their young talent. Pop Snyder was quite a manager for that team and even doubled as their catcher as they won 55 of their 80 games with an average age of 25-26.
  11. He definitely looks healthy. I'm glad too - I always thought McNabb got a bad rap.
  12. I don't know right now if the defenses are utterly atrocious or if the receivers are unbelievble. I'm not really seeing any coverage downfield whatsoever. Granted, most of it has been Witten, TO and DeSean Jackson making the big plays. Those guys are really good.
  13. I don't understand why it's the Eagles' ball. Jackson tossed it down and, it appears, Pacman picked up the ball. Seems like it should have been Dallas ball.
  14. Best conference in the league: NFC East or AFC South Eagles Cowboys Redskins Giants or Colts Titans Jaguars Texans Tough choice in my opinion. you're not serious are you? Yeah. Even with Wash. the NFC East dwarfs the AFC South. Right now, perhaps, but the Colts and Jags will play better. At that point, I think it's very close. Eh, you may be right but I'm not convinced the Jags are really good. They're playoff contenders. How good, I'm not completely sure. It's weird to think the Titans are the best team in the division right now - though that'll very, very likely change quickly. These two teams have no secondary whatsoever. Or the receivers are utterly amazing - one of the two.
  15. Looks similar to Plaxico Burress spiking the ball without being tackled in his first season as a Steeler. This is worse, though, since it (for a play) negated a TD.

  17. Maybe it's because I'm assuming the Colts and Jags will turn things around. I don't see a huge difference right now anyway. Over the course of the season I'll think they'll be similar.
  18. Best conference in the league: NFC East or AFC South Eagles Cowboys Redskins Giants or Colts Titans Jaguars Texans Tough choice in my opinion. How is it even close? Right now it's the NFC East with the Colts playing like crap. But the top three teams in each conference are fairly close - though I think each NFC East team may be a little better than each AFC South team (Cowboys over Colts slightly, Eagles over Titans somewhat, Giants over Jags, Redskins a little over Texans (maybe) ).

  20. Best conference in the league: NFC East or AFC South Eagles Cowboys Redskins Giants or Colts Titans Jaguars Texans Tough choice in my opinion. not even close. Not close which way?

  22. Whoever this girl is that sang the Star Spangled Banner is horribly abysmal. I think my ears are bleeding right now.

  24. Mississippi State's defense looked great, but Auburn's offense did make a huge amount of mistakes as well. It may end up working, but that Tony Franklin spread offense isn't cutting it in Auburn right now. Exactly....I have a feeling this game will be either be an LSU blow out by like 3 touchdowns....or Auburn wins in a close one like 10-6 Unless Auburn's offense gets better it'll have to be that way for them. I'm wondering if this is one gamble Tuberville may lose.
  25. Time for a parade through downtown Oakland in his honor. Soccer you can be a part of the 12-gun salute to him.
