  1. He got suspended 2 games for punching out Ken Lucas. He didn't play yesterday either. And CubbieBum beat me to it...all the Colts fans are having a party that Brady is out, even after being embarrassed last night. I'm just wondering how they'll screw up winning the AFC this time. The Titans will win it. :D
  2. Actually, for as many people who have been down on Vince (and there are a whole lot), he's actually fairly well in line with a young Steve McNair right now. Vince, first 2 yrs as a starter: 51.5 comp %, 12 TD/13 INT, 4.9 y/a 62.3 comp %, 9 TD/17 INT, 6.7 y/a McNair, first 2 yrs as a starter: 52.0 comp %, 14 TD/13 INT, 6.4 y/a 58.7 comp %, 15 TD/10 INT, 6.6 y/a McNair was definitely better, but you have to consider he had two years to sit on the bench, play sparingly and learn from Chris Chandler before taking over. Vince was thrown right into the fire and expected to not only play well, but also win. Steve also had better receivers than Vince. McNair turned out to be a very good QB in his prime and I think there's no question it's still way too early to make any decision on Vince. This wasn't directed at you at all, by the way GoCubsGo. You just happened to make the last post about Vince.
  3. did you see the big write up in the tennessean about how some people believe vince quit on the team prior to getting hurt? just got done reading it and it looks like vince is falling out of favor fairly quickly around here. I've been hearing that, but I think it's just reporters and writers jumping to conclusions. Vince is still young and was very frustrated at the time. He definitely doesn't seem like he's the most mentally tough QB I've ever seen, but I doubt he was quitting on the team. He's got a new offensive coordinator who's tougher than ever on him and he was frustrated after struggling throughout the game. As of right now, I'm not real worried about it. Check back with me later in the year, though.
  4. I'm perplexed by the turner hating. Was not getting to the AFC championship game (with a limping team) not good enough? With a healthy LT and/or Rivers that game looks a lot different. So what if they lost game one of this season? The last three super bowl champions lost game one of the season. Only if they had a better coach, right? Look, I'm not saying that he's the best coach ever or even that he is better than Schottenheimer. I'm just saying that he has talent to work with and he's a pretty smart football guy, especially offensively. Overall, I trust AJ Smith and the decisions he makes. He's built the chargers piece by piece and I trust that he's got the guy in charge that puts them in a good position to win. Norv Turner has an entire career of incompetence as a head coach. That doesn't get ignored after one good season with an incredibly stacked roster that he inherited. It doesn't help matters that they fired a great coach and brought in one who has proven he's simply a great O-coordinator and extremely incompetent head coach. Bill Belichick as Cleveland HC: 36-44 (1-1 playoff record) Bill Belichick as New England HC: 92-37 (14-3 playoff record) Did he magically become a football genius after leaving Cleveland? Or is he a product of his team's talent? I just don't put a lot of stock into the head coach, that's all. SD has a really good team and this year, just like last year, their record will show that. Even with Norv Turner. Even when Norv Turner has talent, his teams underperform. Besides last year the best season Norv's had is a 10-6 year with the Redskins. That was a team that featured a good Brad Johnson (60.9 comp %, 7.7 y/a that year), Stephen Davis (1400 yards and 17 TDs) and a decent defense. Not the worst of efforts for a coach, but that's not much to hang your hat on. Along with that season, he's compiled a career 69-87 record and that extremely stacked Charger team started the year 1-3. They were at .500 (5-5) as late as Nov. 18 and it took a six game winning streak just to make the playoffs. The only difference between that team and the year before (a 14-2 record) was the coach. Norv Turner's teams have always underperformed. That is the coach's fault.
  5. Vince apparently injured his MCL yesterday. He'll likely miss 2-4 weeks. This isn't a good thing by any means, but it's not terrible. Kerry Collins is a decent enough backup and won't lose any games for us without Vince. Still disappointing, though. It would have been nice to see him play a full year under Heimerdinger this year.

  7. Good thing he's so much better than Marty... :ninja:
  8. I just hope we don't get blown out too badly by UAB . . . I'm still not over last week - likely only a win against Florida will make me feel better.
  9. Solid game for the Titans today. Vince didn't look all that good, but no worse than last year. I've become a Chris Johnson believer. I don't know if he'll be a star yet, but the kid is fast, agile and never goes down easily. I wasn't a fan of the pick, but I think he and LenDale will turn into a really nice running back duo. Fisher just needs to run him split out wide more often because our receivers suck . . . bad. The defense was extremely impressive. Granted, the Jags don't exactly have a good offense, but roughly six sacks and two picks is good whoever you're playing. Cortland Finnegan is a very good DB - probably the best on the team. I'm optimistic for this season. A 1-0 start with two very winnable games (Cincy and Baltimore) and two tough, but winnable games (Houston and Minnesota) left before the bye. I won't be surprised if we hit the bye week 4-1.
  10. Very little makes me happier than to see Steve Spurrier lose. :D
  11. I had to go with Notre Dame. Though I agree that context is pretty important.
  12. I'm excited to see what kind of improvement Vince makes this year with an extra weapon or two and a better offensive coordinator (Mike Heimerdinger). The running game should be excellent again with LenDale, Chris Johnson and a little Chris Henry but I'm still worried about the receivers. A lot of decent guys with no go-to receiver is not an ideal situation, but I think adding Alge will help things a decent amount. The defense will be very stout again, I just hope Kearse can stay healthy this year (not placing any bets). I think this team can win 9-10 games and slip into the backend of the playoffs. If a receiver really surprises and becomes a go-to threat and Vince makes some nice strides I could see us reaching 11 wins at most.
  13. Go Cubs. . .
  14. Rough game, sorry. I've been on this end way more times than you have. Just hope that Crompton can make the adjustments a talented kid like him should make to get the team back to par. Yeah, that's the only hope I can take out of this. Crompton looked awful but showed good composure. He easily could have fallen apart, but didn't - and actually looked good in the final couple of drives. The secondary will be fine, but John Chavis really, really, really needs to stop running the prevent defense when we're up in the fourth quarter. He loves that defense for some reason and I'm really getting sick of it.
  15. I don't know whether to laugh or cry right now. I am pissed off, though.
  16. better watch out for UK! Mike Hartline will throw for 10,000 yards against us. In the first series of the game. We suck.
  17. Take comfort that Mullen and Urban can't carry Norm Chow's jockstrap. He is the Yoda of college football. He really is. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Norm Chow's genius. Just wish he could have done half that with the Titans.
  18. If UCLA and Kevin freaking Craft can do this to us, what in the world is Florida going to do? What is the highest point total in NCAA history? The Crocs will probably surpass that in the first quarter.
  19. Congrats Raisin. You're boys earned it. Now excuse me while I shoot myself. don't be selfish. do it outside so the cleanup isn't as bad for those you leave behind Ah, we're getting new carpet at some point anyway. I'll just stay away from walls.
  20. Congrats Raisin. Your boys earned it. Now excuse me while I shoot myself.
  21. ](*,)  :x   :banghead: :cray: :this: :bye: :write:
  22. Our secondary has forgotten how to cover.
  23. Very true. Without it, we wouldn't have had a chance.
  24. TOUCHDOWN TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a run by Hardesty and composure by Crompton on that drive! Hope we didn't give John Elway too much time here.
  25. I'm seeing a lot of Erik Ainge circa his sophomore year in Crompton right now. Hopefully it doesn't last a season like Ainge's did.
