  1. Interim coach Tom Cable will be named the new Raiders head coach, according to ESPN.
  2. i've never seen it before and i always heard it as "nobody does it like sara lee." i like that way better. down with double-negatives! Double negatives are fun. Plus, the jingle doesn't flow as well in the non-double negative version.
  3. I've actually never thought about it as "Nobody does it like Sara Lee." I've only heard it (and seen it) the other way.
  4. He still put up some decent offensive numbers, even without the O-line being strong. He throws a lot of picks, but throws for a lot of yards too. he never had much of a running game, either, did he? Nope. I think he really kinda got a raw deal...franchise QB on an expansion team (lot of hope for success there huh?), and then takes the fall when the team begins to figure itself out. Even if he's not a Bear (doubt he will be), I'm rooting for the guy. I thought Carr would have been very appealing to the Bears after he left Houston but he was horrible for Carolina when Delhomme went down with an injury. I still wouldn't mind him coming here to replace Grossman but I wouldn't be expecting much if anything. I wonder how much of his issues at this point are mental? I'm not trying to be an amateur psychologist here (I know some people get riled at that  ), but he's definitely got talent. I just wonder because he got absolutely obliterated in Houston and I wonder if he's kind of looking over his shoulder now. I definitely have always liked him, though, and think he'd be an interesting pick up for the Bears.
  5. Former Steeler/Panther linebacker Kevin Greene?
  6. George Kokinis, recently the pro personnel director for the Ravens, is the new GM of the Browns.
  7. Yep, you can definitely be in a war room and have a team. I'll add you into our war room. And we'll try to start right after the combine - basically right around Feb. 25. I think we did start in mid-March or something last year and that was too late.
  8. Lyon is 2 years younger and his 2007 was better than anything Gregg has ever done. Gregg was much better last year, though.
  9. I'd be very happy with Chuck Cecil as the new DC. He's worked under Fisher for 8 years, so there should be a good understanding between the two on what they want to do. I thought soccer may be interested as well that Dave McGinnis has been discussed for the Raider DC job.
  10. I thought those here might be interested in this, given the interest Bear fans have had in Albert. From Rotoworld.
  11. acknowledging that fact, then deciding that the best solution is to give up on what little bit is left seems like a bad deal to me. But we're giving them up for one of the best pitchers in baseball. And he's only 27 to boot. He's bringing with him elbow problems and a monstrous contract. I know he's had elbow issues, but how serious are they really? Does anybody know? And as for the contract, we're shedding Harden's contract after this year and Lilly after that. That'll be around $20 million freed up between the two (and hopefully around then we'll have a young starter or two who can step in for them).
  12. Sorry guess I should have made it clear. I was joking about joining Carolina. I would just want to mess with my old roommate and make sure he doesn't get Nate Davis. My bad. I see how it is, making me go out of my way. :flame: Don't worry, it's cool

  14. I've got all three of you for the respective war rooms.
  15. Except for the fact that I went back to DePaul-Marquette because I couldn't stand watching the slop that was the 1st 5 minutes of the game. It looked like really unorganized pick-up ball from both teams. That's most Tennessee games. Especially this year. :-))
  16. Gus doesn't do nearly enough BTN games. Gus should do all games. In all sports. I wouldn't limit him to sports. "This is Gus Johnson, on location at the North American Quilters Association." I'd watch it.

  18. I don't know if this was posted yet but . . . Gus Johnson is announcing the Tennessee/Memphis game today!!!! :yahoo: A great game just got even better. :D
  19. I'd like to watch this. It should be entertaining. :D
  20. It's your team to do with as you please (as far as picking players). If you want to pick according to what you think the team will do, that's fine. Or if you want to pick according to what you think the team needs, that works as well. With the Titans, I'll probably draft according to what I perceive as their biggest needs, but I'll try to choose players depending on what I think Reinfeldt/Fisher would look at. And I have you down for Tampa and we officially have one person per team! People can still feel free to jump into whichever war room they like.
  21. I have no problem with that. They can keep raising ticket prices if they keep raising payroll. How many tickets are you purchasing to see a game? Family of 4? 5? People don't have an inalienable right to attend baseball games at a price that is conventient to them. I probably went to less than 5 games at Wrigley as a kid. When I started paying for myself I went a heck of a lot more often. And when I have kids, I'll probably buy a couple times per year. But you can get by going to a game as a family for less than $200. That's comparable to a lot of other family entertainment options. It's far cheaper than attending most amusement parks. It's cheaper than football, basketball or hockey games. It's not that hard for most families to scrape together the money needed to enjoy a game. Season tickets? Obviously not, but a game or two a year is not going to setback anybody. But regardless, the payroll isn't what determines ticket prices. Ticket prices rise to reflect demand, and they are kept artificially low already for PR reasons. Obviously since I don't live anywhere near Chicago I can't speak on Cub tickets, but for Tennessee football games, you're looking at spending $100 per ticket. Or, if you're lucky enough to find a way to get season tickets, you're going to spend a few hundred thousand in donations - just to have the "honor" of paying for tickets over and above that. Baseball tickets are far more reasonable than that.
  22. So you mean .250 points above last year's? :D
  23. Ok. All we have left with no one affiliated is Tampa Bay. Other than that, people can feel more than free to jump into any of the war rooms. I still would like a couple per team if at all possible, and so far we only have that for three or four teams.
  24. I wouldnt mind bringing Edwards onto the Bears staff in some capacity. He has experience as a head coach, and has ties to Lovie, although I dont think the Bears have any positions open. The Titans have a hole at DC still and the best candidate they've looked at is Jim Haslett (I'm also intrigued by Chuck Cecil). Herm's specialty is defense and I think I'd be very interested if I were the Titans. Not sure what style of defense he runs, though. Everywhere Edwards has gone he has implemented a Tampa 2 defense. I don't much about the Titans so I'll let you be the judge if he is a good fit with the Titans' current personnel. I suspected he might be, given his ties to Dungy and Herm. And no, he wouldn't be a good fit for the Titans. Fisher is not a Tampa 2 guy.
  25. And they claim Cutcliffe's a bad recruiter.
