  1. I'm still wondering why Arkansas was so quick to get rid of him. I don't want to derail a fine recruiting thread, so I will not get into it like I want to. I am an LSU fan with alot of ties to Arkansas and I can promise you it was about a TON more than just wins and losses. He is sneaky and not a good man. I actually think Ole Miss and Nutt are a good fit, as long as he doesn't become his own worst enemy like he did at U of A. BTW, that 16th ranking is per Scouts. Enough said. Check Rivals. :) edit: My bad, they make it to 17! Still don't like him! Yea, we shouldn't make this a major debate, but my response to problems being "more than wins and losses" is to ask: Why in the world did you then go to Bobby Petrino who's much shadier than Nutt?
  2. Marlon Brown officially to Georgia. Great pickup for the Dawgs, but I was hoping he'd go away from the SEC if he wasn't coming to UT.
  3. Je'Ron Stokes signs with Michigan. Crap.
  4. Bama has wrapped up Kendall Kelly. That likely means they'll get Dre Kirkpatrick as well.
  5. I'm still wondering why Arkansas was so quick to get rid of him.
  6. Ok, now I'm hearing that Nu'Keese Richardson has signed with Tennessee. ESPN is reporting it, along with the Knoxville News Sentinel. That's awesome.
  7. Same here. But then again nobody saw Massie going to Ole Miss (if I remember I am going to PM you about why I am fuming over Massie). Gotta love the thought processes of 16 and 17 year old kids.
  8. Perhaps the best offensive lineman in the nation, Morgan Moses, is going to Virginia.
  9. Gaudin was a little worse than Marquis was this year. Marquis had a 101 ERA+ in 2007, while Gaudin had a 95. Marquis' 2008 ERA+ was 99. True, but most of that was because Gaudin kinda wore down towards the end of the year(after relieving all of 06). I don't see him making 34 starts, as our 5th starter. If you keep it to 28-31 starts, I can see simliar numbers to Marquis. Plus Gaudin is still kind of a young pitcher he might improve a little bit still. Just as long as he doesn't fall down drunk and hurt his back like last season. I still think the best situation for us is Gaudin as the 5th starter, Marshall as the swing guy, and Heilman as the 7th or 8th inning reliever. I think Marshall can stay stretched better then Gaudin, and feel Heilman can be a really good reliever when he's right. I'd prefer Marshall as the fifth starter and Gaudin and Heilman in the pen. At some point we'll need to give Marshall some starts off and then Gaudin or Heilman can get some starts.
  10. Nah, I'm just faster and better. Yeah, you try getting down three flights of stairs with 100 other students at lunch....... :D Considering I'm about 280 pounds, that wouldn't work well. I managed it through 5 years of college though. :D Didn't Marlon go to GA per rumor? Cause if he did, man what a WR combo GA has in Green/Brown. Rumors I'm hearing (per the Knoxville News Sentinel) are that he's going to sign with Ohio State. That's a shocker because I was hearing it was down to UT or UGA for him. Where did tOSU come from? Maybe Tressel will allow Marlon to play basketball? To me that was the rumor surrounding Marlon is that he was looking for a school that would allow him basketball along with football. Have you heard that, dew? Otherwise that would be a heckuva QB/WR threat of Pryor and Brown, provided Pryor improves his mechanics. I think he wants to play basketball as well, though I thought Kiffin/Pearl were ok with that. And I hadn't heard a thing about OSU and Marlon Brown until this morning, so I don't have a clue where that came from. Hosak might have heard something, but I thought it was likely Tennessee and possibly UGA.

  12. Just heard on the radio that NuKeese is going to UF. Not a surprise, but still - crap.
  13. Nah, I'm just faster and better. Yeah, I'm happy with the day so far. Marlon Brown was a disappointment, but I'm hoping against hope we pull in NuKeese Richardson.
  14. Gaudin was a little worse than Marquis was this year. Marquis had a 101 ERA+ in 2007, while Gaudin had a 95. Marquis' 2008 ERA+ was 99.
  15. Great news on Smith. Hopefully we get Jackson as well.
  16. Eddie Lacy has signed with Bama. Dang.
  17. It hasn't been a complete bust of a day for UT to this point, but I am surprised that it hasn't been better. Yea, the only real surprise (positively) has been Myles. I really thought we had Marlon Brown and it was very disappointing to hear about Oku and Phillips. Otherwise, we've pretty much gotten out commits. You've gotta be happy about Teague as well. I'm much happier to see him at UT than at UF. And I'm enjoying the unraveling of their class. Yes, very happy about Marsalis Teague. I didn't want to start assuming him until he signed - which he did just a little while ago. There might still be some minor shot at Marlon Brown. He hasn't signed yet and all I've heard are "sources" saying he's going to OSU.
  18. Nevermind, it's over for GB. Finally. To UF?

  20. Tana Patrick has signed with Bama. Dang.
  21. Just heard on the radio that Darren Myles Jr. has signed with Tennessee!! That's huge for the Vols. EDIT: Here's a link. And here's a quote from ESPN.com:
  22. I'm hoping you're right.
  23. Tennessee just signed the #6 linebacker in the nation, Jerod Askew. That one is fairly expected, but makes me happy.
  24. Tennessee was on the short list of a number of big time guys, but so far we're losing out on all of them (Marlon Brown, Alshon Jeffrey, David Oku, Aubrey Phillips). It's very discouraging.
  25. I doubt you'll find many people who argued both sides. It's just that one side was more vocal then, and the correct side was more vocal after the trade. I've been in favor of keeping Marquis for a while. Before last season I was saying we shouldn't dump him for peanuts. Yeah, he is awesome. Not awesome, but a decent enough #5 starter. Good enough to not throw away for scraps. I am sure that Hendry didn't think about that. If only he had called a few teams to see if they would give him more than scraps. What an idiot. I haven't been criticizing Hendry that much for the move. You were the one that brought up Marquis and I said my stance on him has been consistent for a couple years now. We lost Marquis for slightly more than scraps (the hope that Vizcaino can be healthy and pitch well), but gained Heilman. I'm ok with that.
