  1. I'm not real crazy about the Whisenhunt hire. Don't necessarily hate it, but his tenure in Arizona was pretty bad after the Super Bowl appearance. My big hope is that he learned from his mistakes the first time around and will be better for it now. Still would've preferred Zimmer and maybe Quinn, though.
  2. I guess I just don't see the appeal in Whisenhunt as a head coach. He was below .500 at Arizona and I have trouble divorcing him from the QB troubles there since he would/should have had a big say in who to bring in. Bruce Arians coming in and winning 10 games this year doesn't exactly help his cause, either (that's the most Whiz ever won in Arizona). There are so many more intriguing coaches out there who haven't failed yet that I wouldn't be happy with going for Whiz, despite the Super Bowl appearance.
  3. Yeah, if you want to seed by record, eliminate divisions and just go with 2 conferences. Otherwise, what's the point of divisions and division champions? I think it gives some structure to scheduling and still guarantees a playoff spot for winning your division. You want home field? Win more games. I'd have no problem with them taking steps to avoid having the Saints have to play in Seattle or Philly or the 49ers have to play in GB or Chicago when they earned home field with a better record. I'm not necessarily opposed to it as I think it's a legit argument, I just think it's silly to have divisions and division "champions" in that scenario. I lean toward leaving it as is, because in your scenario you're still not fixing other, related issues like Green Bay making the playoffs and Arizona not. To me, you either go all-in on divisions or you eliminate them entirely and just take the top X number of teams from each conference.
  4. Exactly what I thought when I saw that. Can't believe Tampa saw Lovie's tenure in Chicago and thought this would be a good idea. ++ Have no idea why they would do that. Same reason Ken Whisenhunt is a hot commodity in the coaching searches. Organizations don't learn from mistakes.
  5. I would like that. National guys saying Titans are interested in Whisenhunt and I hate that idea. Getting him off the market would make me feel better.

  7. Local guys saying most likely scenario for Titans is Dan Quinn as HC and Mike Mularkey as OC. Can definitely get behind Mularkey, not as sure about Quinn.
  8. I'm thrilled, though I hate that it didn't work out with Munchak because he seems like a great guy. Very early rumors are that Rich Bisacia and Dan Quin are in consideration. Ruston also said that they're considering coaches currently on playoff teams. I expect Darrell Bevell to be a serious contender, which I like. Hoping they look at Todd Bowles and Stoops too. You can Take Bevell but leave Dan Quinn alone... Tell me about Quinn, if you would. My impression has been that he's just kind of living off others' accomplishments - was the DC at Florida where it's basically Muschamp's defense and now is in Seattle where it's basically Carroll/Gus Bradley's defense. Clearly I could be wrong about that, but I'm just not sure what there is to like about Quinn. If you could tell me about Bevell too, I'd appreciate it. I've heard from national people that he's creative offensively, but now two Seattle fans that I've heard from haven't liked him .
  9. Haha, wouldn't mind him as a QB coach or something.
  10. In the right situation (front office fully behind him and no stars to piss off) I think McDaniels might have a chance to succeed. Wouldn't be near the top of my list though.

  12. Either Schefter or Rapoport said that there was a possibility of a Rich McKay-Lovie connection in Tampa.
  13. 9, 6, 7 wins in 3 years despite the talent getting better each year (and a free agent spending spree in year 3). I just don't understand what more there is to see.
  14. Rapoport seems to be expecting Dolphins to fire OC Mike Sherman.
  15. Lions brass meeting with Schwartz right now apparently.
  16. Sounds like a few Browns players aren't happy about the firing. Yeah, I've seen comments from both D'Qwell Jackson and Joe Thomas that they hate the move. And I don't blame them.
  17. News so far: Browns fired Rob Chudzinski Leslie Frazier is out in Minnesota Mike Shanahan's officially gone from Redskins
  18. Sounding like the Titans are leaning toward keeping Munchak. Clearly management is happy with mediocrity if that's true.
  19. Giving Cano way too much or giving a bit much for David Price just don't seem like fireable offenses to me (though they are bad decisions). If we're talking a move that gets a GM fired, something like Taijuan+ for Kemp would seem more likely.
  20. Huge win for Tennessee today. Carolina played horribly which helped a ton, but this team has been improving every game. Bama and Missouri are near certain losses, but we can (and I think should) beat every other team on our schedule. 7-5 would be a solid first season for this staff. And Marquez North and Pig Howard are going to be great. North had one of the best one-handed catches I've seen today.
  21. He's definitely gone senile. Calling those two timeouts on 4th and 2 cost them a chance to come back to win. That was some horrid coaching.
  22. Richt: Maybe. Muschamp: No. Muschamp should, but I agree he won't. Florida's done nothing but get worse since he took over and their offense is completely inept. I agree that Richt's probably safe, unless they drop another game or two that they shouldn't. Beating Florida would help him immensely.
  23. Tennessee played a great game and this is the best Worley's looked at UT. I'm really sick of these close but not quite losses - happened multiple times under Dooley and now again under Butch. I'm more convinced then ever now, though. This is a much more talented Vols team than people give us credit for. If we'd have started Worley vs Florida, I think we win and now we play the best team in the SEC (though hobbled) down to the wire.
  24. And the league's full. Guy who previously dropped out wanted back in.
