  1. OTs or DTs? I like Tiny Richardson here at OT and Dominique Easley at DT. Roberson's a good player too, though. I'm probably a Tiny apologist, though. Others don't seem to like him in the NFL as much as I do.
  2. For what it's worth, McCullers is pretty raw and struggled to use his body as he should, but seems like a good kid and a hard worker. I like him a lot, but probably not before the third round (maybe late second).
  3. Safety would be optimal for the Colts here, but the pool has gotten kind of shallow at that position. So, the Colts will take another step to replace Samson Satele and add a drafted center to compete with Phil Costa and Khaled Holmes. The Colts select Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State.
  4. The 49ers needed a QB more than pretty much anything else in the 2005 draft and that led them to take Alex Smith. If a great QB isn't there, take a better player and fix QB later (in that draft or in a later draft). There's likely not a "great" QB in this draft. I might like Garoppolo or Mettenberger more than any of the big 4 (Bortles/Bridgewater/Manziel/Carr). Probably not, but I wouldn't rule it out.
  5. The concern is that he becomes a guy like Albert Haynesworth who is far more talented than anybody else on the field, but only tries when he feels like it. I don't think it's as huge a concern as others do and I would take him with the #1 pick without thinking twice, but it's a nagging concern that can't be dismissed either. In the Clowney vs Manziel debate, though, it's not like Manziel is a quiet, nose to the grindstone type either. I don't think it's a huge concern with him either, but if you're going to be concerned about Clowney's lack of effort, you have to be concerned about Manziel's self-promotion.
  6. Their careers are going to be much more ruined if he goes somewhere else and is even just "Matt Stafford good" than if they draft him and he stinks. They are basically banking their reputations on the fact that he is going to be a bust somewhere else. South Texas will never forgive those guys if he turns out to be a good QB. As far as the fans go, Clowney is going to have be the second coming of Deacon Jones to offset Johnny being good somewhere else. Fair point on the jersey sales. People were saying the same thing about Reggie Bush when the Texans took Mario Williams. Bush hasn't been anywhere close to a bust, but nobody has been unhappy about that pick. If the Texans take Clowney and he's awesome, Manziel could be the next Favre and few people are going to be pissed. There'll be more consternation since Manziel is from A&M, but Manziel doesn't have to fail for fans not to be pissed.
  7. The next two picks were PMd - Vikings take Kyle Van Noy, LB, BYU and Bills take Chris Borland, LB, Wisconsin. Next up is the Titans and, with Michael Roos likely in his final season and Michael Oher not being a left tackle and only being average as a right tackle, they choose to take a potential top-end tackle to provide depth this year and hopefully be a starter for many years to come. Titans select Ja'Waun James, OT, Tennessee. goony and the Giants are up.
  8. If we had the option, I'd have likely traded up before the Texans to ensure I got Garoppolo, but that didn't happen. So, with no QBs worthy of the pick here (Mettenberger is the only one I would consider, but, while I like him, I don't like him enough for this early), the Jags will pull a bit of a surprise and take the lightning to Gerhart's thunder. The Jags select Tre Mason, RB, Auburn.
  9. I went ahead and added the second round order.
  10. We have the time, do we have the interest in a second round?
  11. Haha, wow - not sure what the crap I was doing there. WF22 is, in fact, the GM of the Broncos so this is his pick. I'd advise Shazier as well, but I'll wait for confirmation from him.
  12. I went with Nix. sneaky and the Eagles are up - I PMd him.
  13. Keep it moving. Haha, that's the plan. I meant suggestions on who should be taken. TE and OLB seem to be needs, am I missing any? Maybe center, but none are worth a first rounder. DT is also possible since Pickett is 34 - maybe Louis Nix?
  14. It's a mix between what we think the team will do and what we think the team should do. That affects the accuracy a bit. Understood, but some of the other years had a certain degree of accuracy. 2011 was a total fail, both in terms of who went where, as well as who would even be good. You're right on who went where, that was a total disaster. We didn't start really struggling with who would be good until the second half of the first round, though. Watt went way too late, but most of the first half of the first round turned out pretty good.
  15. Good point. He's definitely my #1 tackle, though I like Watkins a lot so I'm not sure if I have a clear-cut second best prospect.
  16. Unless his stock has dropped a lot recently, I don't think it's a reach.
  17. I could see an unlikely scenario where he drops a bit (though not outside the top 10). Robinson is a bit of a workout warrior in that I don't recall him being considered nearly this highly until his incredible combine performance. That could cause Matthews or Lewan to be taken before him and he could slide a tad.
  18. It's a mix between what we think the team will do and what we think the team should do. That affects the accuracy a bit.
  19. Anthony Barr and Greg Robinson were both very high on my list for this pick, but both of them are gone. Gilbert is certainly a possibility (and the best pick here, in my opinion). However, the Titans let Verner go because they feel very good about the duo of Sensabaugh/Wreh-Wilson to replace him, so I'd be pretty surprised if they go CB here. So, that leaves a very high risk/high reward player to fill a major need for this team. Switching to a hybrid 3-4, our ILBs are (I guess) Colin McCarthy and either Moise Fokou or Akeem Ayers. Only 1 of those 3 (Ayers) should be a starter in the NFL, so we need to fix the inside of our LB corps. So, the pick here is C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama. I PMd goony.
  20. This is exactly why I went Watkins over Mack. As great a fit as Mack is for that system, I just couldn't, with a good conscience, leave them with that mess on offense.
  21. Sorry about that. I saw your PM in my e-mail, but didn't have time to get on the board when your pick was up. That's my fault.
  22. Yeah, I could justify any of the three directions and maybe it's just my personal bias, but I don't see enough of a gap between the top 4 QBs (Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles, Carr) and the second and third tier guys (Garrapolo, Murray, Shaw, McCarron, Mettenberger, etc). I could see Bradley going with Mack/Watkins in the first and then waiting a bit to get one of the later QBs in a Russell Wilson-esque move. Mack was extremely tempting there, though, with Bradley being a defensive coach.
  23. This is a really tough pick. Hard to settle on Chad Henne at QB, but Sammy Watkins is very explosive at WR and Khalil Mack is fantastic. However, with the questions surrounding Blackmon's ability to stay out of trouble and Cecil Shorts' limited track record and the lack of an outstanding QB at the top, the choice is made. The Jaguars select Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson. WF22 and the Browns are on the clock. I PMd him.
  24. I'll make it easy on you. Broncos for me. raw wants NFC, so he gets Cardinals. TT has Chiefs, hawkeye - Vikes Leaves just Pats and Fins. Fins to Raisin since they pick sooner. We'll figure out the Pats later. Get this thing started tomorrow. Edit- looks like Wekin wants a team too. So Pats to him (or vice versa with Raisin- either way, those picks are far off, so this things ready to start) That works for me - all teams are now assigned. Houston and sulley are on the clock. I PMd him.
