  1. Any preferences on teams for anybody or do I just assign?
  2. Gotcha. If anybody wants to triple up, we probably should start that now. 6 teams left to fill.
  3. I went ahead and doubled up everybody who requested and between that and UK taking the Bills, we're down to 9 teams to fill. Raw and sulley - since both of you asked for Houston and raw gave me a third team, I gave sulley Houston and raw got the steelers. I figure I'll give it til Wednesday morning and then we can triple up or something. We probably shouldn't start much later than that.
  4. Gotcha. I figure we can start doubling up tomorrow or Monday if it doesn't appear there's going to be a lot more interest. Don't want to wait too long and be rushed.
  5. Everybody who requested has been assigned. Raw, I gave you San Diego since it's the first you mentioned and sulley, I gave you Seattle for the same reason. You two will be first in line for the latter teams you mentioned if we don't fill them. 20 teams left to fill
  6. I'd love to start this on Monday if we can fill all the teams in that time period, but it may be a little longer. I'd rather we not double up until/unless it becomes clear we won't have a different person for each team. I took the Titans.
  7. The 2014 version of the NSBB mock draft: Basically, the premise is this: 1. We'll need at least one person for each of the 30 teams. 2.The first person will be the person of record for that team, but it might be fun to have a bit of a "war room" type of activity. We'll limit War Rooms to five per team. 3. War Rooms participants should share IM names and might want to form a private chat room to discuss their selections. It is recommended that War Rooms take a vote on picks after the discussion and allow the person of record make the pick. If a consensus cannot be reached, the first person to sign up for each team will make the final decision. 4. Picks will be made in real-time, with a set amount of time between picks. After that time ends, a pick will be made for that team. Each slot will have 24 hours to make a pick. (Idea and wording courtesy of vance_the_cubs_fan) Posters can double and triple up if there's a need - I'd like to have more than one for most, if not all, the teams out there. If anybody has any suggestions, post in this thread or you can PM me. Also, I'll try to keep a running list of the next 3 picks coming up - if you have any question whatsoever about your ability to make your pick when your turn comes up, PM me with your top 3 (or so) choices and I'll announce your pick if you can't. We will likely do a 24-hour time limit on picks to try to keep this thing moving along. If you can't make your pick in that time period, I'll make it for you. If you want to take one of the teams, post it in here or PM me and I'll update the list. 8. I'm still around, but the mock did slip my mind with the draft pushed back this year. I should be able to get it posted later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Figure we can start it within the next few days and have enough time for at least a round and maybe two.
  9. And the Pettine hire is official. Seems like a solid hire, but then so did the Chud hire too.
  10. Strange thing about this mess in Cleveland is that Jimmy Haslam's dad is a major booster at Tennessee and is mostly hands off and patient - completely the opposite of the Cleveland mess going on. I hear Haslam's name brought up a lot but is Michael Lombardi just some sort of figure head? I thought the deal was he was named GM after Chud was hired, which ultimately led to Chud not being a match with the new regime. I don't think Lombardi is just a figurehead and you're probably right that he wanted his own guy in there rather than somebody hired prior to his arrival. That's part of the problem, though - I've never liked the idea of hiring a head coach before a GM for this reason. Haslam and Banner made the move before Lombardi came in, now he wants his own guy and they're embarrassed because they fired a guy after one year. That said, I don't think the search itself has been that bad. I don't know that Pettine or Quinn will be good head coaches, but it's not like they're ridiculous options. Quinn would likely be a head coach right now if it Seattle had lost earlier. The negativity about the search comes from guys turning them down and that comes from a concern that Haslam is too hands on and reactionary.

  12. Titans plan to hire Mike Mularkey and John McNulty to unspecified positions on the staff. My guess is McNulty will be QB coach and Mularkey will be TE coach. This is shaping up to be a very good staff with a good mix of youth and experience. I want to see what the draft and FA bring, but Whiz might make me a believer pretty soon.
  13. Titans hire UCLA DC Lou Spanos as LB coach. Seems like a good hire being a LeBeau guy. Titans are also expected to hire Ray Horton as DC. Butler was a pipe-dream, but I'm happy with Horton. Wasn't crazy about the Whiz hire, but I'm liking the way this staff is taking shape.
  14. Titans hire Chargers' TE coach Jason Michael as OC. I like the move - he's young and has been around some good offensive minds.
  15. Vandy hires Stanford DC Derek Mason as head coach. I know nothing about him, other than I'm pretty sure he's not the former Titans and Ravens WR.
  16. http://blogs.tennessean.com/titans/2014/01/16/dont-bet-on-chris-johnson-being-back-in-2014/ Yeah, I expect CJ to be gone this offseason. There's no question his productivity has dropped, but I don't think it's all (or mostly) on him. The Munchak regime used him very poorly, trying to use him as a big, feature back rather than the explosive guy you want to get out in space that he is. The offensive line under Munchak has been very poorly coached as well, meaning the holes have been tiny to (more often) non-existent. I'd like to see what CJ could do now under a better coaching staff, but with guys like Verner and Pollard up for re-signing and money concerns already, I can't see CJ coming back. And that Shonn Greene contract looks worse all the time. I'd love Whiz to cut Greene and bring back Jackie Battle, who was as effective as Greene at a fraction of the cost.
  17. um... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU7gkAXPa14 Sammie Hill should be a really good fit at NT, though Completely forgot about him when I typed that. Doesn't sound like it's going to be a strict 3-4 anyway.
  18. Probably better than Munchak, for what that's worth.
  19. My guess is we're going to a 3-4, especially after what sneaky said. We'll need some personnel changes to make a 3-4 work, but I think it's doable. No nosetackle, but LBs like Ayers and McCarthy can probably play in a 3-4 and we still have Kamerion Wimbley who can move back to OLB (if we don't cut him). Local guys don't think Butler is realistic, but I'd love to dig into the LeBeau-led Pitt defensive family with him or Horton. Moss is Green Bay's LB coach and has been discussed as a rising defensive coordinator prospect. Wouldn't mind a Capers protege either. I do like that Whiz seems to be looking at aggressive defenses for coordinators, we've been too passive for too long.
  20. Probably Jim Caldwell. Munchak is apparently high on the list as well. This is looking like a bad hire for Detroit.
  21. He has kind of a weird career. Did good work with Big Ben. Rejuvenated Kurt Warner's career and basically put him in the HoF. But he failed with Leinart and all those scrubs AZ had. It doesn't look good that Andy Reid was able to get Kolb to play like a stud at times, but Whis couldn't get anything out of him. I think he would have been a good fit for Detroit with an already established QB. But I wouldn't trust him to develop a QB. Just think there were other coaches I would have given a shot to before recycling him. Pretty much my feelings. I got to the point where I really wanted Zimmer and he appeared to be 2nd on the list since they didn't want to wait on Quinn to come available. Those Jay Cutler to Tennessee rumors from a few weeks ago seem a lot nicer now, too bad Cutler signed that extension. Apparently the front runner at the moment to be his OC is John McNulty, don't know much about him. Winston Moss, Keith Butler and Ray Horton have been mentioned as possible DCs - all 3 are pretty intriguing.
