  1. Gotta be. Good move by Buffalo, they need lots of help.
  2. He was heavily rumored to be going 4 or 5, and the trade only cost a second. Too many good rushers in this draft to give a 2nd rounder for a guy who doesn't stand ou from the rest.
  3. I'll be surprised if the Bills don't go QB here, but I don't think they should.
  4. At least they took a really good player this time. Alualu was just a weird pick. They have $20 mill in cap space and Clabo, Smith and Winston on the streets. And Monroe and Britten already on the roster. I'm not arguing it was a good idea, just that it wasn't as bad as last year's first rounder.
  5. Um. Yeah, I edited that. Everybody on the NFLN set were convinced it was Lane Johnson and I bought in. yeah well the reason they figured that was because most people assume the eagles want to upgrade at OT, and johnson would be a perfect fit. don't totally understand trading up past the eagles for a guy they probably weren't going to pick. maybe they couldn't get a trade with teams behind the eagles. And Johnson went to Philly. I just don't see how Jordan is a 2nd round pick better than Mingo, Ansah, etc.

  7. I like Oakland trading out of the top 10 - more likely Floyd falls to the Titans.
  8. There are about 5 other similar players and a couple of them were likely to fall to Miami's original pick. Not sure what the point was.

  10. Wow. That was a reach (not the pick, the trade).
  11. Just saw a report that the Dolphins and Browns are talking about a Davone Bess for a 4th round pick swap. Also, the Pats apparently want a 2nd round pick for Ryan Mallett. I like Mallett more than most, but good luck with that.
  12. I can see Trufant battling Hayden at Nickel. He'd likely win out and start. a nickel isn't really a starter Depends on how often you're in the nickel. He may not officially be a starter, but he may be just as valuable.
  13. I'm hearing the Titans could potentially pass on Milliner to take Xaviar Rhodes at 10. Somebody tell me good things about Rhodes.
  14. What did we learn today?
  15. That's possible, though there were a lot of rumors that we were after both Anibal and Jackson and it wasn't an either/or. Either way, Upton didn't have to be one of the mid-tier guys we signed (though he would have been a perfect fit), he was just an example that came to the top of my head. Two years ago was the much more egregious (too harsh a word, probably) example. Passing on/not getting guys like Chen and Cespedes really hurt, I think.
  16. I think one of the biggest problems facing this team right now is a lack of mid-tier FAs. Clearly we've either not had the money or the desire for the big money guys (Pujols, Prince, Wilson, etc) so debating that at this point is pretty meaningless. However, it seems like in the first year it was an all-or-nothing sort of outlook because of that. What I liked so much about this past offseason was that we picked up guys who can be useful for multiple seasons (Jackson, Fujikawa, Villanueva) as well as the sign and trade guys. The problem is, we've not done anywhere near enough of that. Just off the top of my head we passed on Wei-Yin Chen 2 years ago and showed no interest in BJ Upton last year. Neither would have solved all of our problems, but both would have been quality contributors for multiple years at reasonable (for their talent level) prices (Chen is probably a major bargain). Instead we've focused on the sign and trade types (Baker, Feldman, Maholm) only and have to put forth great effort each offseason just to tread water or make slight improvements. The sign and trade guys are important as well (Maholm helped get us Vizcaino, for instance), but they shouldn't be the focus of an offseason. Just because you realize you're going to suck doesn't mean you can't make incremental improvements that will benefit you over multiple years and that's what I think this front office has missed on the most so far. I still think they're going to get this figured out, but I think because they started out so single-minded it's going to take longer than any of us will like.
  17. Yeah, the later start date is the main reason I think there will be fewer changes in a redo of this first round. That said, again, I'm fine with trying to push through the first round again before Thursday night.
  18. It's possible, I just think if there is a change it'll primarily be due to wantin to do something different the second time around rather than new information that has come out. Star's issues were well known when we did the first round and Werner's still a guy who should go late in the first but is a top 10 candidate. I do agree we may see some differences in the 2 first rounds, but it'd probably be for reasons other than new information changing people's opinion of who they chose initially.
  19. All it takes is one of the top 5 or 6 to change what happens next, and the Jets/Tampa trade certainly throws a wrench. I would be shocked if we went through the first 12 with the same selections. Other than changing it up just for the same of changing it up, I'm not sure what new information is out there to change the first 12 picks. We've not had anybody rise a huge amount or anybody's stock collapse either. I wouldn't be stunned if the first 12 picks stay exactly the same if we redo it. That said I'm more than willing to do it if the interest is there.
  20. I agree, though the 13th pick would very likely change now. That could lead to a chain effect. I've been extremely busy the past few days, though, so I've not been able to get a 4th round going or restart it.
  21. Supposedly McShay has him going #8 overall to Buffalo in his latest mock draft. That's been rumored off and on since Marrone was hired there. I agree with davell - I think with the quality depth in this draft but the really weak top end will lead to a lot of wrong predictions. I could easily see any of the top QBs taken in the first round and any of them falling to the 2nd/3rd round.
  22. Seems like the Revis to TB rumors have been going for a couple of months now. Yeah, pretty much. Signed him to a 6 year $96mm extension, but none of it's guaranteed. Gave up the 13th pick this year and a conditional pick next year. Good deal by the Bucs. The contract is fantastic for them and while the 13th pick in the draft plus some is a lot, Revis has real potential to live up to it.
  23. Seems like the Revis to TB rumors have been going for a couple of months now.
  24. I've yet to see you back up your hype of Flacco with anything other than an apparent reliance on conventional wisdom that since his team won a Super Bowl he must be invaluable. Do you have any support for your argument other than that his team won a Super Bowl after recovering from a pretty mediocre season to have a really hot four-game stretch? As I've said before, the Titans' issues go far, far deeper than Jake Locker. Our coaching staff is pretty awful and our owner is going Al Davis on us. I'd much rather swap the Titans' owner/GM/coaching staff for the Ravens' than swap Locker for Flacco. Marvin Harrison Reggie Wayne Marshall Faulk/Edgerrin James Dwight Freeney Robert Mathis Jeff Saturday That's definitely a bunch of scrubs, it's not like one of those guys is already in the hall of fame and there can be an argument made for at least 3 others (Harrison, Wayne, Freeney). That said, Peyton definitely does make his team better, but he's one of the greatest QBs in NFL history. Flacco is struggling to be a top 10-15 starting QB of the current era. There's really no comparison at all. And my team will suck until Bud Adams realizes he's trashing the franchise with his senility and we actually get some competent coaching in here. The talent on the field really isn't that bad, the coaching staff just can't get anything out it. And while I'm not the biggest Locker fan, he's one of the biggest victims of the poor coaching staff.
  25. No problem. You like the Hughes pick? Yeah, not bad. Dude looks like an NFL nose tackle, if he can get his head straight he could be pretty good. Too bad Mathieu got scooped up a few picks earlier, was hoping he'd fall. That was my thought as well on Hughes. He was a very well thought of recruit who's a really good athlete, he just needs to stay clean off the field. Could be a great long term nose tackle.
