  1. I figured he'd be off the board and was surprised he wasn't. With Floyd and Jarvis Jones already off the board, I'm not really sure who I would've taken if you had gone Milliner. I guess Ansah....
  2. Milliner might be BPA after Joeckel goes off the board, honestly. I really like Milliner and would love it if he really fell to the Titans.
  3. Easy pick for the Titans here. Alterraun Verner is a FA after this season and Jason McCourty is nice, but not a premier corner. So, the Titans select Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama. I'll PM raw.
  4. Well, if you decide not to give Cutler $18 mil a year and then hand the starting job to either Jason Campbell or Caleb Hanie, you've made a horrible mistake and it's not refusing to give Cutler $18 mil a year. Alex Smith has been the very definition of league average (or worse) and he was just dealt for a ridiculous haul. Joe Flacco has been very inconsistent throughout his career and Football Outsiders has never ranked him above 14th best in the NFL. So, basically the Ravens went expensive and have a league average QB. Even in the playoffs this year he was fairly hot and cold. My view is that you can't wrap that much of your payroll (Flacco) or future (Smith) into the very definitions of league average QBs. They're not going to make you better (ala Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, etc) and instead are going to hamper you from doing so. I was probably in error putting Romo in that group. I'm not sure he's worth $18 mil a year, but he might be good enough to make it reasonable to pay it. I agree with your overall point that you have to overpay for some of the better QBs, but I don't see how Joe Flacco and Alex Smith support your argument. Romo maybe, but not the other two.
  5. I like this pace. I PM'd UK.
  6. Tough pick here as nobody really stands out, the Jaguars have lots of needs, and they'll likely do something really dumb like taking Montee Ball (remember the Tyson Alualu pick). But, I settled on a relative sure thing after the massive reach last year and went with Bjoern Werner, DE, FSU. cubbyvirus is up for Oakland and I PM'd him.
  7. I'll defend myself slightly on the Castro/Harper thing. Harper at 19 posted a 4.5 fWAR and Castro at 20 posted a 2.0 fWAR, but a huge amount of that difference was wrapped up in UZR's love of Harper (9.5 for Harper vs -2.0 for Starlin). Harper's still better offensively, but it's not nearly as ridiculous and position importance played a big role in my thinking. That said, bWAR says I'm way wrong too, so I'll admit my error. On Trout, I'll go ahead and admit I was wrong there. I was thinking about position importance and forgot just how ridiculously good Trout was last year.
  8. Alright, I think I filled all the teams with the right people and we're now full. So we will begin - Tiger and the Chiefs are on the clock.
  9. I gave you the Steelers since they were the closest to Baltimore. Davell has Washington.
  10. QB contracts are completely out of control. Flacco as the highest paid (or one of, at least) QB in the NFL and Romo almost getting $18 mil per year is just ludicrous (especially Flacco). I know it's a heavy passing league now and QBs are an integral part of that, but completely replaceable QBs are getting significant deals/returns (Alex Smith's ridiculous return included).
  11. If we don't fill the rest of the teams pretty quick, we're going to need to start tripling up. Not quite yet, but soon I think.
  12. In the right package I could see an interest in any of those three. Straight up, I wouldn't give up Starlin for any of them. The only one I'd put any thought into straight up would be Trout.
  13. Like you, I'd balk at the pitcher, but also Kemp and Tulo.
  14. Michael Huff to Baltimore on a 3-year deal. Aaron Rodgers is also reportedly about to become the highest paid player in NFL history.
  15. Snake(?) I guess. Not an auction fan. Ah, ok. I'm fine with either a Saturday at 4 or Friday after 5 draft time. Friday might actually be a little better.
  16. This a snake or auction draft?
  17. I'm in and can probably get 1 more (non-NSBBer) if we want (need) to expand this out.
  18. I'd be up for an NSBB baseball league. I'm actually not in any fantasy baseball leagues yet (need to get on that).
  19. you can have the 49ers... i'll take the bucs I made the switch.
  20. With the Packer following on the board I'm really surprised they're no taken yet (unless MR really wants them).
  21. There is something dirty and dangerous about leading with the crown of your helmet. If you get clotheslined or speared the other team will be penalized. There's no rule about spearing unless you lead with your helmet, is there? Also, if it's dirty to drop your pads when contact is about to be made, then pretty much every ballcarrier in NFL history has been dirty pretty consistently. You are pointlessly talking about dropping your pads when this is not at all what is being described. It will come into the conversation, though. Players drop their pads when contact is coming, instinctually. When that happens, logically, the heads drops with the shoulders and opens up the almost certainty that refs are going to make mistakes (especially when the league office emphasizes this) and penalize runners when they don't lead with the crown of their helmet. I this really is as insignificant an issue as the NFL claims, then the best case scenario is that it's needless regulation that gives refs, who already have a tough job, an extra opportunity to make mistakes and bog games down.
