  1. I didn't either. I'm going off the article that was posted from mlbtraderumors. Him, Bell or Downs would be the guys I'd focus on if I were Hendry. If were going to deal with the Pads, just go after Mike Adams. Id love Heath Bell, but at what cost? Hes a closer at the top of his game and the Pads are going to want a lot back for him. In fact I cant see the Pads sending him to us without at least Cashner in the deal. I wouldnt mind Smoltz or Weathers for cheap either. Heck, throw Smoltz in the mix for the 5th starter job. Adams will probably be cheaper for longer than Bell will (because Bell has save numbers to build up his price). That's why I think they'll be more willing to deal Bell than Adams. They're going to want a ton for either because they don't really need to trade either. If they even throw out the name Cashner or anybody in that level, Hendry needs to just sign Weathers or go with what we have.

  3. Somebody's getting a fantastic value in Iupati here.
  4. I'm not a big Frasor fan. Honestly, if they really feel like they need another reliever now, I wouldn't be opposed to David Weathers. We wouldn't have to trade any young players and could likely get him on a cheap, one-year deal. He is 40 this year, but he was excellent in 43 games for Cincy last year and has been good to very good fairly consistently. He did have a poor season in 2008 and wasn't very good for the Brewers in 25 games last year, but otherwise, since 2005, he's been a good reliever. I'd still prefer to stand pat or look into Heath Bell or Scott Downs, but Weathers would be a guy we wouldn't have to trade prospects for and could contribute.
  5. Colts cut Ryan Lilja. A bit of a surprise to me.
  6. Nice value on Davis here. WrigleyField 22 and rawaction are on the clock for the Steelers' pick. I PMd them.
  7. That made the Titans' pick easier. We were down to whichever of JPP and Kyle Wilson fell to us. Wilson is probably the second best corner in the draft and, while the Titans have Ryan Mouton and are high on him, a second corner across from Finnegan is still needed. Mouton won't be ready to be that second corner this year and with Dunta Robinson off the market, there's not much in free agency corner-wise. So, with the 16th pick in the draft, the Titans select Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State. The 49ers, jame.gumb and CubbieBum are now on the clock. I'll PM them.
  8. Interesting to see Williams go ahead of both Davis and Campbell. The Giants and jersey cubs fan are now on the clock. I PMd him.
  9. We'll make the Haden to the 49ers pick official, putting mhuber and the Seahawks on the clock. I PMd him.
  10. I don't know if their demands have changed, but at the trading deadline last year they were asking for a couple arms and a few legs for Bell (I think Cameron Maybin was part of their demanded package from the Marlins). Wasn't Kevin Towers still the GM at that time? Maybe Jed Hoyer is abit easier to talk trade with then Towers. That's a good point. It'd be interesting to see what Hoyer is asking for, because Bell would interest me.

  12. I just don't see any reason why the Padres would dump him without getting a significant amount back in return. He's cheap and very effective. They have no real reason to trade him.
  13. Nice win for the Vols today at Mississippi State on senior night. Beat them by 16 to go into the SEC tournament on a hot streak.
  14. Blast! I was hoping Haden would fall to the Titans.
  15. I don't know why they'd trade him without getting a really good deal. He is 32, but he's put up very good numbers throughout his career and he's very cheap. The Padres really have little reason to trade him. And that's the thing. Most teams are going to keep their better relievers right now and the consistently good relievers are not currently free agents (none that I know, at least). I don't want to see us bring in a mediocre vet just to have a vet.
  16. That's a must watch.
  17. After consultation, the Jags choose to go with the best pass rusher on the board. Derrick Morgan is the best overall value here and is the best DE on the board. The Jags have received a visit from Aaron Kampman, but have not yet reached a deal. Thus, the Jags select Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech. Mark Prior's Calves and the Broncos are now on the clock. I PMd him.
  18. Yeah, I just don't know if Morgan would be as valuable as a 3-4 end. Bryant or Anthony Davis are probably the best picks here and Bryant's a good TO replacement. Raisin and myself are now on the clock for the Jags' pick. I'll PM us.
  19. That's the thing. I'm all for going after the good, consistent relievers out there (of which there are some). However, I don't know of any currently available. That's why I'm promoting the idea of going with what we've got and assessing again in a month or two.
  20. Uh, Ryan Theriot. Theriot's not a prolific base stealer, but he is at 74% for his career. That said, he ran too much the last couple years when he was only stealing at a 60 or so clip.
  21. Can Morgan be a 3-4 OLB? I'm not sure he'd fit at DE in a 3-4. I think JPP would be a reach here as well.
  22. In case EhDubya doesn't make his pick, are there any opinions on what the Bills should do here? They need a tackle and Anthony Davis and Bruce Campbell are the highest on the board. Both would be slight reaches here, though, so what are some opinions?
  23. I don't think so. We've got Marmol as the closer either way and Grabow should be decent enough. After that, we've got Marshall, Gaub, Stevens and Caridad who all either have shown their ability or have a lot of talent. I'd wait a while, see how the pen falls together and then see what's available. That said, I wouldn't be opposed to a Downs deal if we didn't trade much. i think that if john grabow is your second best reliever, you've got problems. and what if marmol pitches like last year? then it's a complete disaster. I actually think Stevens has a real shot to be our second best reliever, even with Grabow pitching well. Marshall could also be the second best reliever for us. Without making a move, I understand we're relying heavily on potential (with Stevens, Gaub, Caridad) and rebounds (Silva, Gorzo), but I don't know that Frasor is much of an improvement over what we've got. Downs could be and that's why I'd be open to possibly acquiring him. Basically, if there's a really good arm out there we can bring in, fine. Otherwise, let's see who steps up in the pen and reassess in a month or two.
  24. OJ Atogwe and Ryan Clark are still available safeties. I don't know how they'd fit the Dolphins' system, but both are solid pickups.
