  1. It's not like we have awesome OF prospects who are sure to be highly productive in a 2-week bench stint. Dubois has had marginal ML success in the past and isn't a butcher in the field (to my knowledge) so bringing him up for a short stint due to an injury would be ok. There are preferable options, I'm sure, but not significantly so (unless I'm forgetting somebody).
  2. I really liked that signing when we made it and I still like it quite a bit. He was a very good addition.
  3. LB? Did you mean OL or is that an abbreviation I'm not familiar with? I meant OG. I was talking to a co-worker about Karlos Dansby while typing. Ah, makes sense. He'll likely play center for the Titans next year, assuming Mawae isn't re-signed (which I doubt he will be). And Amano is another sign of Mike Munchak's incredible coaching ability. Many of the Titans' best linemen have been mid to late round picks who have blossomed into solid to very good players. Amano (7th), David Stewart (4th) and Leroy Harris (4th) are all significant contributors to the current Titans that Munchak has developed.

  5. Figured this was a good time to start this thread. The Titans have re-signed lineman Eugene Amano to a 5-year deal. Solid move, provides some depth to the line if Mawae becomes a free agent.
  6. He could have been a little better, but he could have been much, much worse. His major league OPS' have ranged from .761 to .656 (most recent). Soriano posted a .726 OPS last year. So Dubois' upside was probably around what Soriano did last year, maybe a little better. Soriano's upside, however, is 100-150 OPS points higher than that. Like I have said, I hope Soriano is healthy and productive. I just think if needed Dubois could catch lightning in a bottle for a couple of weeks if needed, anything longer than that would be scary. He could, but if Soriano gets hurt I would not want Dubois playing ahead of Nady. Bringing him up for the bench would be fine, but if Soriano gets hurt, Nady needs to be the everyday LF until he returns.
  7. Also Starlin Castro. Elvis Andrus, who had a lesser bat coming into the majors last year compared to Castro, was pretty respectable last year for a 21 year old light-hitting prospect. If we rush Castro, hopefully Rudy can help keep him afloat those first few months. Here's a question for us to ponder......If we were pretty certain that Castro would put up Andrus' line of .267/.329/.367 in the majors in 2010, would we want him in the majors or not? If I knew that was the best he'd do, I'd probably prefer he stay in the minors for another year (or half a year). Blanco could post a sub-.700 OPS with stellar defense and we could continue Castro's development in AAA. My hope, if Castro is in the majors most or all of the year, is that he could approach Theriot's career OPS of .721 with very good defense.

  9. Heck of a game for most of the game. Kentucky is too good, though, and we didn't have the depth. I feel pretty good about our chances at home.
  10. Can't complain one bit about a 30-29 game at halftime. UK's been beating the crap out of us in the post, but our zone has bewildered the Wildcats. If they keep missing the outside shot in the second half, we have a real shot at a win here.
  11. Good game so far for the Vols. We're forcing Kentucky to shoot outside shots and they're not hitting. We're trailing, but not by much at all. Staying in this game is a very good thing (obviously).
  12. Big game for Tennessee tonight against Kentucky.
  13. Gotcha Warp.
  14. I can watch pretty much any college football game, and every NFL game regardless of "my team" playing. But I've tried watching the world league and arena league and just can't. I guess it has something to do with people actually caring about the outcome or the tradition. With baseball I can really only watch the Cubs and then playoff games, or if I go to a game I can enjoy anybody. But I can't really get into other teams playing. I definitely won't get that much into the games, but they'll be something to put on the TV. And sometimes they can be exciting games. That said, I don't go out of my way to watch any AFL games.
  15. It's a form of football in the NFL offseason, so I'll watch. Find a way to watch Australian Rules Football instead :-). Arena League is right there on NFL Network, Australian Rules Football isn't. Otherwise, I'd be all for it. :-)
  16. It's a form of football in the NFL offseason, so I'll watch. I don't understand this sentiment. No matter how [expletive] the football, you'll watch it cause it's football? If nothing else is on, yeah probably. I won't watch it intently or anything, but if it's on and there's nothing else on, why not?

  18. They could quickly turn around and add those respected non-BCS schools and turn it into a 14-16 team mega conference that would maintain it's status with numbers. Take away the best of the WAC and Mountain West, then let the remaining teams from those conferences merge. I guess, but it sounds like they could lose a couple of schools to the Pac Ten as well. I realize they're not elite, but rumors are that Arkansas would have an interest to move to the Big 12 at some point. That would be a "name" program to add to it, at least.
  19. The Arena League is coming back on the NFL Network.
  20. That sucks. Those things are awesome.
  21. I will be totally and utterly shocked if the 49ers take a RB anytime before Round 4 let alone with their first pick. Granted it is Spiller but we have Gore and just spent a 3rd rounder on a guy the coaching staff supposedly really likes. I'm betting guys like Spiller and McCluster will be popular in this draft as teams will try to emulate CJ's and Reggie Bush's success. Both are similar style running backs and can be used with a bit more versatility than your more traditional type RB.
  22. LOL. Go Raiders! Thing is, Dunlap's a really good player too. The Raiders have an amazing ability to turn good players into crap. Very true.
  23. That's good stuff, I'll add it to the first post.
