  1. Wow. There's no way that I think 2 QB's are taken in the top five. I doubt it as well, but it could happen. Depending on how Bradford is rated by teams, I could the Rams and Redskins both taking QBs. Especially if the rumors are accurate that Campbell may be on his way to Buffalo.
  2. New Wes Bunting mock draft is up:
  3. Yeah, I don't think Clausen will fall out of the top 10. If nothing else, somebody will trade up to get him. And Suh should go #1, but I won't be shocked if he doesn't. The Rams could easily go QB with the first pick. If they don't go Suh they will go McCoy. They are better off with that and taking LeFevour in the 2nd round. I agree. I like the second wave of QBs (Brown, Tebow, Pike, McCoy, LeFevour, Hiller, Skelton) nearly as much as the top two. At least, that's what they should do.
  4. Yeah, I don't think Clausen will fall out of the top 10. If nothing else, somebody will trade up to get him. And Suh should go #1, but I won't be shocked if he doesn't. The Rams could easily go QB with the first pick.
  5. If not now, when? People like pretending he's some raw pitcher just because he played football in college. That didn't stop him from racking up innings, and between college and pro ball he's well over 650 innings pitched, which is more than enough time to become developed. Compare that to Randy Wells who actually had to convert into a pitcher and was in the mid 500 innings mark before last season. If you're in your mid 20's and all your stuff accomplishes is pedestrian k rates, bad location problems and plenty of hits, where are you supposed to improve? Samardzija is not raw. He's had plenty of time to develop already and he is what he is, which is not impressive. He's more raw than some, but he's still a prospect. Some prospects need more time to develop than others. This season will be big for him, though, I think. Rothschild is on record saying his off-speed stuff has improved. If that's the case, we should see better results. If he starts getting better results, maybe that gives him the confidence he needs to continue his improvement.
  6. I've thought his stuff looked pretty decent, but he's had trouble locating it at times and isn't real consistent with it. I think he can develop into a good pitcher, especially with Rothschild working with him, but I don't think it'll be this year.
  7. not really Yes, it is. Unless it is a coach that coached you, or your kid, it's incredibly weird. I don't really become a fan of a team, but I kind of pull for a coach who coached one of my teams. For instance, Jim Schwartz went from DC with the Titans to HC with the Lions and I kinda pull for the Lions to succeed now. I'm not a fan by any means, but I kind of hope he does well. It'll be the same way with Fulmer if he takes another coaching job. I won't be a fan of the team he goes to, but I'll hope he does well at his new job.
  8. If the Rams do take Clausen or Bradford, the Lions should send them a thank you card for allowing Suh to drop to #2.
  9. I don't think the Rams should avoid taking a QB, I just don't think either of the top 2 are so much better than the next group that it's worth the difference in money they'll have to pay. Also, I think Suh and Berry are the best players in the draft and the Rams should be in a BPA mode at this point. If that BPA was a QB, though, they should take the QB. And if I were Washington, I'd look in another direction than QB. Campbell's not a great QB, but if you give him a better running game, coupled with at least a decent O-line, I think he could be more than serviceable and could serve as a stop-gap while you infuse the rest of the offense with talent. If Okung or Anthony Davis are on the board at the Redskins' pick, I think they should go that way, to be honest.
  10. Bradford's more of a west coast system QB. I don't think he has the arm strength to run an Al Davis system or much down field passing, but he can be excellent on the short to mid level throws and has shown to be a pretty smart QB.
  11. Neither are likely to be the next Peyton/Brady/Brees/Rivers, but both can be very good in the NFL, I think. I don't think either one are worth spending a top 5 pick on (along with the money that is attached to such high picks when both seem to have decently high bust potential). There are a lot of QB's that are jumbled together (that I don't think are that much better/worse than Clausen or Bradford) that will go in later rounds. The Rams should take Suh, or whoever they think is the best playmaker on the DL, or just try to trade out. I could see Clausen as a top 5 pick, but I'd hesitate to take him first. That said, if the Rams are dead set on taking a QB with the 1st pick, it should be Clausen. However, like you, I'd lean more toward Suh or Eric Berry with that top pick (if the Rams need a safety, I'm not sure what they have beside Atogwe) than either of the QBs. There are guys later in the draft (John Skelton, Tony Pike, Tebow) that intrigue me enough to pass on the massive contract either Bradford or Clausen will get in the top 5.
  12. Neither are likely to be the next Peyton/Brady/Brees/Rivers, but both can be very good in the NFL, I think. Not Bradford. In the right system, I don't see why he can't. Clausen's likely to be better and I'm not sure if I think Bradford will be good enough to warrant a top 5-10 pick, but I think he can be a good to very good NFL QB.
  13. Neither are likely to be the next Peyton/Brady/Brees/Rivers, but both can be very good in the NFL, I think.
  14. I think it's more a focus on production and reputation over pure natural skills. Bradford has more total yards passing (though only by a little under 300) and an 88:16 TD:INT, while Clausen has a 60:27 TD:INT ratio. Bradford has also been liked by scouts and achieved success much earlier than Clausen. Whether that's the right way to look at it or not, a number of draft analysts before the combine/pro days will put more emphasis on collegiate production over pure skills. I'd say if both were participating in the combine, then analysts would be much higher on Clausen after he made a much better showing than even a healthy Bradford. I like Clausen better because of his skills, but I think Bradford can be a good to great QB in the right system (west coast-esque, probably).
  15. Just a reminder, the combine begins tomorrow (Wednesday) and goes through Tuesday, March 2. Thus, we'll start next Wednesday, March 3.
  16. I like Stevens quite a bit. I'd really like to see him in the pen.
  17. Not a surprise, but the Chargers have cut LT.
  18. Gotcha raw.
  19. You're in Raisin. You can keep me from trying to sabotage the Jags.
  20. All teams are filled now. The combine starts up next Wednesday. People can still join war rooms, as well.
  21. Alright, time to start doubling up on ownership, I guess. Anybody who wants the Giants or Steelers, let me know. I'm taking the Jags along with the Titans.
  22. Raiders signed Janikowski to a 5-year deal.
  23. Steelers, Giants and Jags are still ownerless. If somebody doesn't claim them probably by tomorrow I'll start calling for people to double up.
  24. Eh, you're probably right. I forgot about Fuld as well.
  25. It's not like we have awesome OF prospects who are sure to be highly productive in a 2-week bench stint. Dubois has had marginal ML success in the past and isn't a butcher in the field (to my knowledge) so bringing him up for a short stint due to an injury would be ok. There are preferable options, I'm sure, but not significantly so (unless I'm forgetting somebody). If Hoff doesn't make the 25 there's a much better option right there. If Hoff isn't claimed off waivers (he's out of options, correct?), I'd probably agree. That said, Hoff's 2009 is very similar to Dubois' best ML season. Granted, Dubois' was in 2004. Like I said, there are better options but none are great options if a starter gets hurt.
