  1. It's still a risk. If he spends a few months sitting too frequently, then gets sent down, burning an option, then that puts a little more urgency into the situation. The move in and of itself won't hurt his development, though. It's the handling of him after the move that could.
  2. Not only would they demote Wells, which is dumb in and of itself, but they wouldn't use Zambrano to replace him? What a [expletive] bunch of people we have running this organization. Is that just Sullivan speculating? It sounds like it. And I don't know that Wells is "too comfortable" in the rotation. His ERA and WHIP are too high, but he's improved his K/BB (5.66 last year to 7.56 this year) and his xFIP is nearly a run better than last year.
  3. I agree with that. FSU and Miami are fairly realistic possibilities if the SEC looks to expand, and I think Virginia Tech would also be worth a call. USF would also be an interesting prospect, but would be much lower on the list. From a purely football standpoint, I'd love to see the SEC pursue Georgia Tech (giving us the UGA/GT in-conference rivalry and the potential for a UT/GT rivalry). The SEC already has a strong hold on the Atlanta market, though.
  4. Ocho may be right. Wow. I wonder if one of the multiple sources is OCNN?
  5. Yeah, from the Pirates' perspective last year I'd much rather have Jose Ascanio than John Grabow. Gorzo also didn't have much value at all last year either.
  6. I never said good, I said decent. And then I said there wasn't a chance of it happening.
  7. Baker's not going to bring much at all, but he could bring more than Al Albuquerque. Maybe not, though, since I just looked up his OPS and he's doing worse this year than I thought.
  8. I really think they'll keep Theriot. They like him too much and I don't think he'd net enough to move him. He'll probably move over to second and platoon with Fontenot (I hope) and we'll move either Tracy or Baker.
  9. If we're calling up Castro either way (don't really agree with that) then getting a decent reliever for Baker or Tracy would be pretty decent return, I think. Especially considering we traded A-ball pitcher Al Albuquerque just last year to get Baker. I'd rather keep Fontenot and platoon him with Theriot, though. I can't see anybody giving up anything of value for either of them. I agree. I took A-Cal's comment as sarcasm that we'd be acquiring a reliever and was pointing out that a reliever would be good return for either of those two. We could possibly get a boom or bust A-ball prospect for either. Baker might possibly fetch somebody maybe like Kyler Burke, but not as good as he was when he came over for Barrett. I doubt Tracy would fetch anything more than a PTBNL, if that.

  11. Do we know what brings on the cold streaks by Soriano? When Kosuke hits a cold streak, it's because of a mechanical flaw in his swing (it's why he's always been super hot after his Japanese hitting instructor visits), but do we know why Soriano gets cold? If it's a mechanical thing, is it possible that Jaramillo – who specializes in memorizing and fixing mechanics – could keep Soriano out of the longterm funks he hits? I have no idea, just a thought.
  12. Yeah, the Red Sox are probably the perfect big market team to model yourself after.
  13. I never said the whole thread was bashing Rothschild and if I gave that impression, sorry. It was started to complain about him, though. And weis asked for people complaining about Rothschild and I showed him some examples. I will agree that there hasn't been constant complaining about Larry, though.
  14. I haven't heard that in ages. I'm not sure that I've ever heard it, personally. Whom, may I ask, would such a comment pertain to (current or past)? A thread started to complain about Rothschild. Those comments have all been made since 2009.
  15. Not a surprise. I think it was pretty much a sure thing he was at least going to be a September call-up.
  16. Ok, I was going off memory on that post.
  17. Pacman a Packer?
  18. Bowls are basically like a participation trophy in little league. These days, yes. I still remember, though, when there were around 15 games and making one really meant something. Yeah, they bring in quite a bit of money, though, which is why there are so many now.

  20. Is Fukudome's contract not up after this year? Maybe I'm wrong... but I thought he signed a three year deal. He signed a four year deal before the 2008 season. He's signed through 2011 and will make $13.5 million next year. Ouch. I dunno why I was thinking his deal was the same as Bradley's (30/3). I think he was 4/40 or close to that, but it was a backloaded contract.
  21. Not terrible looking. No, but she did this thing where she winked at the camera and it was bad. Also, she took out her boobies. Oh well. Guess I'll keep watching hockey.
  22. Me too. I started both Lilly and Kennedy. Ouch.
  23. I don't think I've ever watched anything on Versus until these playoffs. I don't get it. You have to get the 250 channel package to get Versus on Dish Network. Not a fan of rodeo and bicycling? I had it on last night for the game and noticed afterward a horrible sports talk show that features a good deal of Jenn Sterger. Well that's a good thing.
