  1. I like Spikes here to the Pats. His apparent lack of sideline-to-sideline speed should be covered by the 3-4 ILB scheme.
  2. Ducasse is a really interesting prospect. Good pick by the Jets – who are having a really nice draft.
  3. I don't know if he was top 5 for me. Probably not. Anyone think for some reason Kafka or LeFevour gets taken first? My top five are probably: Bradford Clausen Skelton Jarrett Brown Fifth would be one of McCoy, Lefevour or Crompton. McCoy and Lefevour were more productive, Crompton has far, far better physical skills. I'd probably hold off taking a QB after Skelton or Brown until late 3rd to 4th or later, though.
  4. I don't know if he was top 5 for me. Probably not.
  5. Hardesty to Cleveland. Very nice pick. Hopefully they improve that line.
  6. Cleveland trades up. 10 trades in 26 picks now.
  7. Nice pick by the Texans. Ben Tate's a good running back.
  8. I love trade rumors . . . .
  9. I think he'd actually be a good pick for a team in the 2nd round. Lots of potential and could be a terrific value. I'd be fine if the Titans traded up for him.
  10. Yep. Starts at 6 p.m. CST. 5 p.m. central. Weird. I've been thinking it started at 7 p.m. EST for a while now. Does the draft itself start at 6 (5 cst) or is that ESPN's coverage?
  11. I should have mentioned Bryant, he was a good value there. Yeah, that didn't make a lot of sense. Maybe they thought the Saints would look to take him?
  12. I would have felt pretty good about Jim Washburn coaching up JPP, but I'm still glad we got the much safer Morgan. His upside isn't as great, but it's nothing to ignore either.
  13. My thoughts on the first round: Best value: Kyle Wilson at 29 to the Jets Worst value: Tyson Alualu at 10 to the Jags Biggest surprise: Tebow to the Broncos. I thought he'd go in the first round, but didn't expect it to be the Broncos. Reaches: Alualu, Mathews (mainly because they traded up too much), Graham (again, plenty of good rushers, no need to give up extra picks), Kareem Jackson, Tebow Values: Morgan, Bulaga, Dan Williams, Wilson The Lions also had a really good first round, I think. Suh and Best is a nice first day haul.
  14. I've seen him as a top 5 guard - for example. A little bit of guards is what the team's o-line preference is. The Colts won't have much interest in John Jerry because he's a huge mauler and they prefer smaller, quicker guards. The Titans, on the other hand, will have him much higher on the board because they love the big, powerful linemen. It's similar to other positions, but more magnified, I think. It makes it much harder to predict where guards will go in the draft. Our first mock, for instance, had Jerry go before Asamoah, but it wouldn't surprise me that much to see Asamoah go before Jerry.
  15. Similarly to Asamoah, guards don't tend to go off the board fast after the first couple. I really like Jerry, but I saw a mock a couple days ago that had him going to the Titans in the 6th round. So who knows?
  16. Unless the Jags move up to overdraft him, I could definitely see him being there. There hasn't been much buzz around Asamoah that I've heard. he was a top 15 pick a few months ago, the best guard available. They may have to trade up into the second round, but generally guards don't go off the board very fast. The top couple generally go off quickly (Iupati and Poucey this year) and then the rest tend to linger. I don't want to say he'll be there for sure, but there hasn't been that much buzz recently.
  17. Unless the Jags move up to overdraft him, I could definitely see him being there. There hasn't been much buzz around Asamoah that I've heard.
  18. As a Titan fan, I don't like that. That'll be a really hard defensive line to block. It makes me glad we have Fisher, Munchak and a terrific offensive line.
  19. I guess I just like the RB depth more than the Chargers do. Somebody like Montario Hardesty or Toby Gerhart or even Anthony Dixon would be a nice compliment to Sproles without giving up the extra pick. If they can get a 2nd rounder for Merriman, though, this is all a bit of a moot point.
  20. Yeah, I definitely think they wanted JPP, but when the Giants took him the easy pick was Derrick Morgan. I'm thrilled with the pick and very intrigued to see what we do with our pair of third round picks. I still have no clue what they were thinking with that pick. They easily could have traded down and gotten Alualu easily, I think.
  21. NSBB mock draft analysis: Our 2nd mock draft was much more accurate than the first, as we got 7 of 32 picks correct in the second one. The teams we got right: Rams, Lions, Bucs, Chiefs, Steelers, Cowboys and Chargers. If you look only at correct position even if the player is wrong, we're closer to 10 of 32 correct.
  22. Yeah, if he can't be a feature back that makes sense. I never got the sense that Best couldn't be a feature back, though. He's not quite the grinder Mathews is, though. I'd still stand pat and target one of the latter group before trading a second round pick for a likely good, but not great, RB.
  23. It doesn't matter in a capless year. As for contract differences, here's last year's 30th pick and 37th pick: Kenny Britt (30th) - 5 years, $12 mil total, $6 mil guaranteed Alphonso Smith (37th) - 4 years, $4.93 mil total, $2.15 bonus None of the 2nd rounders got more than roughly $2 million in guaranteed money. Every 1st round guy got at least $6 million guaranteed.
  24. I don't understand trading up that high. Giving up a second round pick to move up 16 spots when you don't really need to doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think they should have stayed where they were and taken Jahvid Best. Or even taken Dan Williams and then pursued Hardesty/Gerhart/etc. I just don't see that much difference between Best and Mathews and even between them and the Hardesty/Gerhart/etc group.
  25. He might be too aggressive for a Cover 2. He wasn't particularly good in Minnesota. He's still better than the suckfest they have right now Maybe. They ought to look to trade up for Burnett or go after Atogwe before shelling out the cash for Sharper.
