  1. I don't know about that, unless you are talking about on a game to game basis. The Predators pretty much dominated games 1 and 3, and the Hawks have pretty much dominiated the games they've won. Look at the scores up to today, 4-1, 2-0, 4-1, 3-0. Yeah, I meant more the entire series. Every time one team gets a blowout, the other comes back the next night with one. It seems like whichever goalie is hot that night is the team that'll win.
  2. It was a very entertaining game. I was just completely blown away by how the whole game went. Hawks should have won because they were better. Preds somehow fluke their way into what should have been a sure victory and yet do just about everything they could do wrong after the Hossa boarding to blow the game...kudos to the Hawks for coming back to win when they could have easily been demoralized, especially after the Hossa penalty. The entire third period and into overtime seemed very back and forth to me. Didn't seem like either team could get much of an advantage. That's how this entire series has seemed - very even all the way through. Will Monday's game be in Nashville or in Chicago? Monday's game is in Nashville and then if there is a game 7 it goes back to Chicago (2-2-1-1-1 format) Ah, thanks. Wasn't sure what the format is.

  4. This series has succeeded in piquing my interest in hockey. Today's game was fantastic.
  5. I like that pick. Charles Davis on the NFL Network compared him to Nick Harper. I like that comparison a lot. I know he was really good at UCLA, but how do you think he'll translate to the NFL? Yes, but it will probably take him some time to break through. He's not the best athlete or the strongest guy but he's extremely smart and used great technique and instincts (he's a film room rat). He has the record for most defensive touchdowns in UCLA history, most of those pick-6s were based on positioning himself well. Thanks. Definitely sounds similar to Harper. And him being a bit of a project isn't a negative since we have Rod Hood and Tye Hill in the short term and Ryan Mouton and Jason McCourty in the long term. The more I hear, the more I like this Verner pick.
  6. awesome story, too. really wanted him to get drafted. Yeah, I was surprised he wasn't. I'll definitely be pulling for him at Tennessee.
  7. Stafon Johnson signs with the Titans. There's a running back for us - and a pretty good one.
  8. I really liked it overall. Morgan is obviously the best pick, but Rolle might have the highest upside. Getting a safety who could have starting potential in the 6th round is a fantastic value. I really like the Verner comparisons to Nick Harper and I think Rusty Smith can be a cheap, solid backup. I really, really like the Rennie Curran pick too. He's been compared favorably to Stephen Tulloch and I really like Tulloch as well. We could have our linebackers for the next 5-7 years in McRath, Tulloch and Curran. I was hoping for a running back after we traded LenDale, but the top two are probably set with CJ and Ringer. It'll be interesting to see who we go after as undrafted free agents since there are some interesting names still out there. What did you think? I'm very pleased. I really wanted Morgan in the first and was ecstatic when he fell to us. I really like Curran as well, could definitely help this year too. I like that we added help in the secondary though the guys we brought in are sorta projects. Overall first impression, though, I think this is our best draft in a few years. Yeah, last year's was solid all the way through, but I think this year's has more upside. Morgan, Curran, Verner and Rolle could all be starters for us at some point and Damian Williams could be a key in the return game - considering we had no second round pick, that's pretty good.

  10. Mr Irrelevant 2010: Tim Toone, WR, Weber State to Detroit
  11. Yeah, that jumped out at me too. That slugging is all kinds of nice, though. he didn't walk much last year, but if he can make consistent hard contact (which seems to be his greatest asset at the plate) and keep the ball in play, he projects as a .300+ hitter in the big leagues and the lack of walks won't kill him. the biggest concern with guys who have a poor walk rate is that they can't make enough contact. obviously castro's numbers are a little crazy right now - his BABIP is something like .470 - but the emergence of power is really exciting. he has 15 singles, 6 doubles, 4 triples and 1 homer so far, or 42.3% of his hits have been for extra bases. last year only 22.9% of his hits went for extra bases. i noticed in the game recaps and minor league gamecasts that it seems like he's hitting the ball in the air more, and this is the case - his fly ball rate is up (from 31.4% in 2009 to 37.3% this year) and line drive rate is up (from 16.2% to 23.5%) while his ground ball rate is down (from 52.2% to 39.2%). while more fly balls turn into outs than ground balls, you're also going to get more extra base hits this way. let's face it, if castro hits .305 every year with little patience, little power and a good glove, then he's a good shortstop but not a top-tier guy. if he develops power where he can hit 55-70 XBH's and pitchers have to approach him more carefully, then you might see some patience emerge and he'll be an all star. gap power emerging just after turning 20 is another really promising sign for his future. Yeah, I really like to see Starlin developing power. That was something I wanted to see all of last year and it appears that as he ages and fills out a bit, the power is coming. That's really nice to see.
  12. I'm a little bit surprised we didn't go running back at all in the draft. I was hoping we'd look at Lamarcus Coker, but he's still available as an UDFA. LeGarrette Blount is also still sitting around at the moment and he'd be an interesting pickup. I believe right now our only RBs are CJ and Ringer so we'll need to go after one at some point, I'd think. I like our third day of the draft. Myron Rolle and Alterraun Verner are probably the most exciting players from my perspective, but I like the pick of Rusty Smith as well. When I've watched Smith at FAU I've really liked what I've seen. Backup upside probably, but he could be a cheap, solid backup for a few years. Rolle is a really nice pick. A lot of upside, very smart player and might have the ability to start at safety at some point. Getting a guy with the upside of a starting safety in the sixth round is fantastic value.
  13. I like that pick. Charles Davis on the NFL Network compared him to Nick Harper. I like that comparison a lot. I know he was really good at UCLA, but how do you think he'll translate to the NFL?
  14. He's a big, strong offensive lineman. Underperformed a bit at Tennessee, but people were swooning over his physical strength when he came to Tennessee. He reportedly maxed 400 pounds on the bench entering UT. I like him a lot. Real good person from what I can tell and quite a bit of potential. I think Howard Mudd can develop him well as an interior lineman.
  15. OMC has seen him more, but McCluster is extremely agile and quick and appears to be a good receiver out of the backfield. Due to his size, I don't see him as a feature back but he can be a playmaker out of the backfield and split wide at WR. He doesn't have a ton of straight line speed, but once he gets the ball he's really hard to bring down. Tennessee had a very good defense last year and McCluster sliced us up for 324 total yards. He can be very similar, I think, to Reggie Bush.
  16. I really like the white football jersey.
  17. Yeah, that jumped out at me too. That slugging is all kinds of nice, though.
  18. Derrick Morgan Damian Williams Rennie Curran If you had told me this would be the Titans' draft through Friday night, I would have been thrilled. And I am thrilled. Would've probably liked Gilyard over Williams, but that's more of a nitpick than anything. Bruce Campbell, Lamarcus Coker, Levi Brown, Dominique Franks, Kyle Calloway, Myron Rolle and Randy Phillips are all guys I'd like the Titans to look at Saturday.
  19. Rennie Curran's a really nice pick here. Thought he'd be too short for them at 5-10, but he's got nice athleticism and upside. Very good pick.
  20. Don't need Griffen now, but Campbell would be very nice.
  21. Typical Penn State LB. Good speed, athletic, good tackler, nose for the ball. He was at one point a borderline first rounder so that's good value here. Well he's going to have to fight for time. We have Manny Lawson and Parys Haralson as starters and are reportedly happy with both. We then have Ahmad Brooks who is a very good pass rusher brought in on passing situations and we just signed Travis LaBoy. How is Parys doing in San Francisco? He's a former Vol and I know he's been getting playing time, but wasn't sure how he was doing. I know it took him some time to contribute.
  22. There goes Bowman to San Fran.
  23. I'm really interested to see how Armanti Edwards and Joe Webb do. QBs turned receivers always interest me for some reason.
  24. Eddie Royal is very similar to Welker. Good point.
  25. Decker is to McDaniels as Welker is to Belichick? Decker doesn't have the speed Welker does, but could be the safety valve type.
