  1. Vandy has played some good teams very tough, they matched up better against UF than UK. Hopefully, UK will cont. to run the ball like they did. Fans actually tried tearing down the goal posts after the UGA win.
  2. They're pretty arrogant aren't they? After every point in the year that the last undefeated team doesn't win, the ones still alive or moronic enough to get pleasure out of it, get together and pop a bottle and celebrate. That tells me more about them than going 16-0 about who they really are.
  3. I think Navy is a good team overall, I don't think AF will give ND a challenge, but Navy is a pretty good team, IMO. UK progressed enough and has the luxury of an extra fluff game as well as some down years from 3 SEC schools (espec. UGA) to get there. But, Uk and Vandy aren't that far off and should be a close game, I'm worried about a letdown.
  4. I hope there are others besides me that find that 72' Dolphins team completely replusive, if the Bears don't win it all, I hope Indy goes 19-0. But... I have Indy losing to NE.
  5. A win vs. Vandy and UK locks up a bowl bid.
  6. This isn't the '85 Bears and that isn't the '85 Dolphins either, that should've faced the Bears in SB XX.
  7. This team can easily be 5-3 as they can 7-1. They've fallen into this habit of playing with a chip on their shoulder and it has cost them, they did it vs. Carolina, AZ, and Miami. I don't care how good you think you are, you lose to 1-6 team by 21 points at home and that'll tell you how bad you can be.
  8. I think it would be a great idea if they were excessive enough to get Daisuke, to get another Japanese player to make it easier for each of their transitions as well as greater Japanese marketing potenial beyond what I assume is dominated by the M's and Yankees.

  10. This is a big win for UK, 1st time in many years against UGA. If they can beat Vandy next week, UK will be in the Music or Indy Bowl. Vandy and UK are pretty close as far as talent and coaching, but they also have UL-Monroe and UT (loss).
  11. I agree with you as far as Pie's ceiling compared to Wells' current production, but even with the intentions to sign him long-term, could the Cubs build this roster to consist. make the playoffs during the tenure of the core? As a Cubs fan, I would not be upset if a trade like that transpired assuming he's inked beyond the year (I don't see a reasonable scenario where they could make that leap in the span of a year). Without the advantage of a productive farm system, could they make the nec. improvements to win in the next 3 or so years? Those question should help decide whether or not, they look for the next 10 years or the next 3.
  12. OK. I found it in Raisin's post. Now my question, How come the Red Sox, Yankees, and Twins have such good drafts and have good records. Maybe the question is dumb, but what are the Red Sox, Yankees, and Twins know that the Cubs don't? The ability to grade the draft short-term does very little in the long-term, the Cubs rec'd high grades in '01 and '02 and the benefits as far as W-L has not been evident. Of course, I believe the Tigers had strong drafts around that time as well. Boston and NY are not known for their strong drafts, this is more of a fluke for them especially with both of them always losing draft picks to FA.
  13. I wouldn't want either one of them for the Cubs, but as far as Figgins, it'll always be hard for him to have a high OBP while being so depenent on putting the ball in play. They need someone more like Durham or Lofton in the short-term moreso than Figgins, IMO.
  14. They matter, but Figgins over Pierre (even with a healthy Lee/Ramirez back) will likely not impact this offense enough to change things. They need a middle of the order type of hitter (power) and a leadoff hitter (high OBP). Eckstein is that higher OBP type, Figgins is not. Of course, improving that offense is half of the equation. The pitching needs to be of equal priority with 2 starters likely needed (top of the rotation and middle). Not much needed as far as the pen, but the Cubs need 2 bats off the bench.
  15. What about Thome? While I'm very biased, I think he should be in as well.
  16. Jones like Soriano has to prove he can play CF. I think Soriano has the better tools to play CF over Jones. As far as Lee, how long till he eats himself into playing DH/1B? He's not that much better than M. Ramirez right now defensively.
  17. It's always been low to mid 90s, but it's straight and he misses his spots. It's a good show me pitch to adjust a hitter's timing, but if a hitter's looks for it and Weaver misses, it'll be hit hard. He's better with a sinker.
  18. While I like Dunn, I'd take Bonderman over Dunn. Especially with the years and salary factored into the equation.
  19. So his lost confidence was a result of his poor performance rather than a cause? I think it was, but what caused his poor performance is the better question? I think it was mechanics, too many pitches (FB, SL, CB, CH, Cutter), physical fatigue, and a below avg. 4 seam FB.
  20. It was probably both. He needed work mentally and mechanically. He's never had the stuff, location, and intelligence on the mound to be anything above a 3-4-5 starter.
  21. Dye is that steal there, remember the Cubs had Sosa on the blocks and Williams snatches Dye.
  22. http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/projo_20060926_26sox.3bbdfc7.html At that stage, I don't much of an emphasis on the technical side of things. Most slumps are mental before physical, I'm sure he has the ability to correct flaws. To me, if they could someone who is as passionate about patience as Jackson is, then I'd support them. The Cubs inability to work the count to get into good hitting count and their fear of two strike hitting turned avg. at best talent into well below avg. production as a total group.
  23. If UK could beat a mediocre Georgia team, they will likely get to a bowl game. I doubt it'll happen as UGA is still better than UK, but they can be taken.
  24. I would be thrilled if I was the Cubs & could get Anderson.
  25. Timely pitch doesn't disregard the Tigers approach, Detroit put themselves in a difficult position to score regardless of whom was pitching as long as the Cards knew what was Detroit was gearing up for. Hitting is based on looking for something, then being to able to react when it doesn't arrive. Detroit didn't react well to the unusual amount of breaking pitches and didn't adjust. Best records go out the window in a short series, the Cubs have outplayed STL the last two year in head to games but hasn't been close overall as far as talent and the ability to play the game. The Cubs won't score enough runs with only a healthy Lee. Define one more hitter? If Soriano isn't that, than what is? The Cubs would not score enough runs to win, there isn't enough pitching out there to help if they don't improve on offense. Balance is the key. Cubs need just as much improvement on offense as they do on defense. The Cubs have 4 dead spots in their order right now (CF, 2B, SS, P) with a bad bench. They have 2-3 dead spots in the rotation as well and maybe 1 in the pen. They have to improve each of them.
