  1. UK vs. the Blue Demons in two hours, I'll watch it, but it's tough rooting for one team while rooting against the other.
  2. Exactly - I agree 100%. I don't need to wait to see what else Hendry has in the works to come out and say I hate this deal. It's more of a flaw of win now, with plenty of money to spend on little to spend it on. Moves like this will always separate the Cubs from the Pirates, but more has to be done as far as getting players on the cheap as well as players thru the farm system to go beyond on a talented team of all FAs. They had to do it though, IMO. The Cubs won't win it all by trying outspend everyone at every junction.
  3. 1/3rd of the line-up will have to be protected. (Izturis, Pie, SP)
  4. Not if the RH'ers can hit RH'ers.
  5. Pending a physical Soriano is a Cub. 8 years for 136 looks to be the maximum years/money. Rumors around that the last 2-3 years might be option years (no idea whose) and that approx 90 mil is guaranteed. Everybody who doesn't like the signing is negative and Jim Hendry just can't get the props he deserves. Everybody who does like the signing doesn't understand statistics or finances and needs 10 more years of school. I'm bitter and sarcastic (for the last few comments at least) what about those of us who don't like the terms but like the signing anyway? Throw me into that catagory as well. You and I should agree to disagree once in a while. Agreed.
  6. I thought they would celebrate the occasion by pricing the tickets as they were in 1908. Wishful thinking? :)

  8. Got me. someone was laughingly trying to compare their numbers. Hell, you're the one that brought him up, I guess that gives me the answer right there.
  9. What does Todd Walker have to do with anything w/Soriano?
  10. See STL. I assume they will make the nec. moves as well. I see them putting Wainwright in the rotation along side Carpenter, Reyes, and probably Suppan (again) and some project. As well as maybe one more arm in the pen. They'll likely go with Duncan or another OF'er in LF. They will improve.
  11. If Soriano does hit leadoff, how important does the OBP of the 8th hitter become? Honestly, I'd study what LaRussa did by putting the pitcher in the 8th spot and have the better bat in front of him. It doesn't mean I'd do it, but I would look into it. I doubt there has ever been an NL team in this situation if he hits leadoff. Right now, I would look at.. Soriano Murton Lee Ramirez Jones Barrett Derosa SP Izturis
  12. FWIW, Tom House said about a month ago that Prior will be fully heathly again, he doesn't know when Wood will be back.
  13. I know people here (including me) generally put more faith in you than in other news writers, but other articles I've seen say that Soriano will play CF. Of course, they could just be guessing. How sure are you that RF is the plan for Soriano? Very sure. How much of that is based on arm strength? Soriano has better range and neither has great instincts or great jumps on the ball. Soriano would likely cover more ground in CF than Jones will, I just wonder if they're will sacrifice some range in CF for the increase of arm in RF. Does that sound fair?
  14. Why not develop Pie as a corner guy? I doubt Soriano will be able play CF as well as Pie does.
  15. Turner needs to adjust the game plan to a 3 step drop if the opp. is going to blitz as much as they did. The best way to combat a blitz is by a screen pass or a draw, the Bears have never good at screen and didn't run any draws. They should've run the ball more, IMO. If the Pats blitz like that, I hope they shorten the passing attack as well as the drop back towards quick slants and flares as well as more draws. Defensively, I thought they did better against the run in the 2nd half.
  16. Right now, their offense looks to be slightly above avg. They're likely going to invest the next 10 years into hopefully 2 key players (Soriano and Zambrano) with them taking up much of that payroll. Even with the increase in the payroll, they can't afford to not have a good to great farm system if they're going to have almost all of the payroll tied into 3-5 guys.
  17. I drink Soy milk. :x
  18. I think that trade last year of Kearns and Lopez really took the life out of them offensively. Griffey is never healthy enough not to have added depth and Clayton was terrible and was brought in to be the defensive improvement for Lopez. Kearns and Lopez to that point had 668ABs 108R 181H 35DB 2TR 25HR 80RBIs 82BB 151K 30SBs. Their offense struggled to score runs after all the trades went thru. Cincy had a very good chance of getting more than 83 wins had they not went after relievers like they did.
  19. Gonzalez can still pick it and Cincy can afford a dead spot in the order more than a team like the Cubs can right now. His back has to be a concern as his range declined as the year went on and he did have some personal problems. They likely wanted to improve defensively over Aurilia, if I was looking to look improve defensively, I would've gone for Counsell instead.
  20. RC>both Anyone ever get sick from drinking too much Pepsi?
  21. I'm rooting for UM, but that was a horrible call.
  22. UK wins 42-40, giving them 7 wins. Next up is UT and that will be ugly. They'll also bring the same coaching staff (Archer- DC) since they weren't expected to win 7.
  23. Well, second worst if you're going by total defense. Louisiana Tech is worse. That's before today. LA Tech doesn't count anyways, they play in the Sun Belt. :)
  24. UK is in a shootout w/UL Monroe. 42-34 UK with ULM at the UK 20. Worst defense in the country.
  25. have you considered his BABIP? I need a beer badly. How many doubles did he give up? :)
