  1. Would you consider Stevie Wonder as part of a bad, that's what I was having trouble with as far as Marley and the Wailers. Unfort. Sly and the Family Stone missed the cut.
  2. I don't think either one could play CF for an extended period of time. Of course, the lack of a backup CF'er at this stage might have them go that route regardless. Any extended time in CF could expose them, especially at Wrigley.
  3. Sure, you should be concerned with Parra, he's a young pitcher and with his stuff could be the 3rd best pitcher on the staff. As was mentioned, he has to stay healthy and then take the next step of pitching in the majors as a starter and maturing on the mound.
  4. Lopez has the tools be good defensively at SS, he just doesn't apply it to the games. I think having Ramirez along side him would help him on plays to his right since he have doesn't great lateral movement. Theriot does have quick feet but b/c of his arm strength does have to play a couple of steps up which hurts his range.
  5. The Cubs released: RHP Yuri Higgins RHP Chris Rivera
  6. With Lou, all things are written in pencil. :D Yeah, that'll change by the end of the broadcast. While I haven't many games this Spring, I assuming their poor play defensively (Ward not keeping the glove down, Murton stuck in no man's land on the triple, and Soto with the lazy spell) this game is the exception?
  7. Bruce, Lou mentioned during the broadcast that Fukudome is prob. going to end up hitting back in the 2nd spot and possibly Soriano hitting 3rd and shifting Lee and Ramirez down.

  10. Pie is prob. a better defender than Fukudome and has played more in CF while Fukudome is more comfortable in RF, they'd prob. keep the players where they feel most comfortable.
  11. I'd love to see 2 bizzaro seasons and have Theriot play SS for 150 and DeRosa play 150 and see how it goes, offensively and defensively. I question whether or not Derosa could handle it at SS, I don't know if he has the body control to do it. I think Theriot has borderline range and arm strength to handle the position and I think he's a better defensive SS than Derosa. He could be used in an emergency situation or if Theriot is struggling and they need an extra bat in the lineup, but other than that I would assume that Derosa's glove would play him out of the spot. With that said, I think Theriot is a utility player starting at SS despite him being one for that spot. Back to Pie... I think would consider Fukudome in CF, espec. if Pie starts off slow although I don't think we would see Pie in RF w/Fukudome in CF and I doubt we'll see much of Murton or Ward in RF. Somehow I think Lou was not pleased with his defensive OF last year with Jones, Soriano, Floyd, Ward, and Ward for much of the year.
  12. Not that I know of, he might've had some reps during one of the infields, but I don't recall any game action. They appear content with Theriot at SS.
  13. One of their goals was to upgrade defensively in the OF via Fukudome and Pie. Fukudome is most comfortable in RF, Soriano in LF, and I doubt they feel comfortable throwing out Murton in RF for any extended of time. Honestly, if they acquire Roberts and Pie struggles forcing them to put Fukudome in CF I think that Derosa would get more reps in RF than Murton.
  14. The Cubs also released: Matt Canepa-C Simon Lee-RHP Andrew McCormick-RHP
  15. Given the quality of the Cubs pen right now, what he is going to net in return from a team like the Yankees will be more than the Cubs would likely give up.

  17. They're opening up a spot for Ramirez, who I absolutely love.
  18. LHP Taylor Parker has been released as well. Luke Hagerty has been released by the White Sox.
  19. When his bat starts to slow down, that's when you get worried.
  20. To add onto these names the Cubs also released: Matt Hudgins-C Brian Leclerc-OF
  21. Laird is a good back-up C, ideally he would be used vs. LH'ed pitching. He has a cannon and despite his size, his quick on his feet as far as blocking balls.
  22. Until Cedeno can prove he can make routine plays, I don't think he'll ever be a starting SS.
  23. It was nice to see a Cubs hitter take a changeup low and away to RF, it seems like every LH'er that goes away with the soft stuff will get the Cubs hitters to pull off the ball. Lee has been doing that the entire game, he has to find out where RF is again.
  24. Can you even steal in LL? I think it has to do with the constant throwing back to the pitcher. Besides, common sense should tell the coaches to do whatever it takes to cool down that arm (ice, stretching, etc.) rather than keep him out there, of course, I see HS coaches do it.
  25. It's good, most kids struggle to throw strikes at that age and it takes a toll on the arm. Of course, they should ban curve balls or any breaking pitch as well.
