  1. That remains to be seen whether or not he'd raise payroll, since he does have more resouces than the other potential owners, I would be more confident in him than anyone else. Given what he did for the Mavs (as far as upgrading facilities for the players), I'm sure the Cubs players would be more excited than anyone else. The battles between Cuban and Reinsdorf would be worth watching.
  2. Also look at Noyce for S. Utah. They're both relievers, which is odd as well.
  3. Here's an interesting Box Score from the North Dakota St. and S. Utah game: http://www.gobison.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=706&SPSID=12107&DB_OEM_ID=2400&ATCLID=1439266
  4. Bringing MacDougal in will present the same problems as leaving Wuertz out there, can't throw strikes.
  5. My keys for tonight's game for the Cubs' offense: Note how many times the Cubs' hitters expand their strike zone on curves and sliders from Suppan, he rarely throws them for strikes. Also, see how aggressive they are the basepaths as Suppan is pretty slow to the plate and Kendall even with him doing better is still someone to run on.
  6. I think Lou believes that with Fukudome doing as well as he is, that he is providing protection for Ramirez.
  7. The Cubs released Les Walrond.
  8. Movement, spots it well, velo? Rising FBs are a myth, but to the naked eye, that thing just takes off.
  9. My draft for the Bears so far would've gone like this: 1)Williams (OT) Vandy (originally went with Albert but the comfort level of him at LT won me over) (agreed) 2)Limas Sweed (WR) Texas 3)Jamaal Thomas (HB) Texas 4)Red Bryant (DT) Texas A&M 5)Craig Steltz (S) LSU (agreed) 5)Andre Woodson (QB) UK 7)Mackenzy Bernadeau (G) Bentley
  10. Someone will take a chance on him. I still think of him as a punk. I should mention that Wood is still pitching, still productive, and can throw above 90 on the gun.
  11. Lannan tall lanky LH'er, struggles with command, throws a good two seamer (upper 80s) with sink and will throw a change to RH'ers. Doesn't have much of a breaking ball to LH'ers. It wasn't often that I could say this before this year, I expect the Cubs to work deep counts against him. The key of the game for the Cubs offense will be how well he keeps the ball down. If he's on, the Cubs will be rolling over the ball and grounding out to 3B and SS. Hopefully, all those DBs down the 3B line are an indication of what'll happen today. If I was charting the game, I would note the location of his FB moreso than anything else.
  12. I love what the Chiefs have done so far, they could not have drawn it up any better.
  13. Not with Lou's quick trigger and the fact Thomas was pissy about rotting on the bench. Don't necessarily mean Frank in particular, but the principle. Heck, I would have been in favor of adding Dan Johnson off waivers and sending a pitcher down. He's too much of a micromanager right now with his pen to take away another option out there.
  14. Right now, they're the best team in the League top to btm.
  15. The heartbreak of '03 was better than the '02 year when they were terrible or when they fell apart at the end in '04.
  16. I would say no, despite the fact I'm more concerned about his dead arm early on than Hill's lack of fortitude.
  17. Not with Lou's quick trigger and the fact Thomas was pissy about rotting on the bench.
  18. He only had one full year when he was healthy in LF and that with Wash, when he was learning the position. There isn't much ground to cover and he played LF ok after the injury last year. I'm more worried about how the Cubs handle him coming back, will they send him on a minor league rehab stint? Will it be another Sosa-esque drama on whether or not he'll want to go on the assign.? If he doesn't go, how much will his timing and eye at the plate be off (b/c if it was horrible before, it won't get better sitting)? I'd move him down when he comes back.
  19. Nice job by Pie, gets the 1st ball FB and drives it.
  20. I hate the 3-1 hit and run, it's 3-1 and it puts Derosa in a position to protect on any pitch close.
  21. Rough way to start the game, 3 FBs for balls and followed by a FB down the middle on 3-1 for a BH.
