  1. Instead of blowing up the "Bartman ball", they should have had folks sign up to throw it at a target which would dunk Agony into a vat of Old Style. Happy landings, Pretty Boy. :-)
  2. Cot's is where I go for current salary figures. Don't know about the historical contracts, though.
  3. And at least as expensive. Injuries from freak accidents are one thing (e.g., Lee), but the ongoing saga of "when will X be ready"/"X has tweaked his _____" over the past couple of years has driven me nuts. The dynamic duo from 2003 should be sat in front of a TV to see a video of Barbaro from this past weekend, so they know what a REAL injury to a thoroughbred is. NO $100 million team should suck this bad, especially not in the Central. I'd expect this level of performance (or, lack thereof) from a $33-50 mil team. I wish sinkholes would appear to swallow up 2/3 of the Cub outfield players. I've eaten 2 years plus of injury excuses, and I for one am fed up. These guys suck major wampum, so yeah, I'm pretty sick of them, especially at this price. This is a really crappy product for the dough that's been shelled out on some of them. I didn't see Saturday's game, but I saw the lowlight reel. I was so disgusted that I thought about assembling all my Cubs gear and shipping it to Wrigley, postage due.
  4. Well, I gotta go to see my 1:30 client. See you fellas later!!! :)
  5. Well, here's hoping that Pie will be ready next year. I'm finding out where Hendry lives if JP gets re-signed by the Cubs.
  6. No, a miracle would be yet to come - Slappy in the box. 3-run homer. I'm calling it. If that happens at this AB, I'll LMAO.
  7. No, a miracle would be yet to come - Slappy in the box.
  8. I just got a bad memory pic of the Astros teams in the 90s killing the Cubs with just that approach - singling the team to death.
  9. Sac fly. Costs an out, but an RBI and got something done. Unfortunately, a pitching change is on the horizon. OTOH, this fellow had a few get away in the bullpen - wild?
  10. twice That means I'm about a pitch behind on MLB Audio.
  11. Rammy sighting in the on deck circle.
  12. Cue the "Too Little, Too Late" disco song from the 70s.
  13. I don't care whether JJ has been hitting well of late, I still can't stand him. Didn't help when I saw him hit a grounder to strand two guys in scoring position, followed up by lollygagging to No Man's Land to even try for a fielding play the following inning. Three years of this. If Hendry manages to unload JJ, he will surpass his Hundley coup.
  14. Boy do I feel for the NSBBers in the bleachers today. I was almost among them, but for my travels for the job eating my holidays. So did Wood give up on his FB before he got yanked? Maybe the Professor can help with location probs.
  15. I should just let this pass, but as I am slightly bored and warm (no A/C in the home office), pls note that I simply asked the question because I didn't know the exact answer re: recovery time. No reason for you to respond flippantly.
  16. Anyone have the timeline on that? I don't know how long it takes those bones to heal, much less be ready to swing a bat. But for some reason, I think there's a good chance that DLee will spend more time playing for the Cubs this season than Mark Prior. Just a gut feel.
  17. Dear Z: I like it when you are just being yourself. Keep letting the fire show! Thanks.
  18. Y'know, Bonds, being African-American, should be acutely aware of and vocal about the obvious pandering here to a white legend (Ruth), while pretty much ignoring the real record holder (Aaron) because he's black. Oh, wait a minute, Bonds only plays the race card when he needs to cover his own bepricked tushie.
  19. I've been a Cub fan for over 20 years. While I haven't seen as much history as others, I have seen what seems more than my fair share of heartaches and crappy seasons. With the steroids era having been officially uncovered, I wonder whether like the dead ball era and the steroids era, the Loveable Losers (even if they aren't so loveable anymore) are a bsseball trend, only this trend seems to have no end in sight. Think about it: the playoff disasters, the injuries, the ineptness despite the money spent - just seems like the Cubs are inordinately "jinxed". What do you think?
  20. Maybe Marshall could throw just a LITTLE BP on off days, seeing as how THE CUBS DON'T HIT LEFTIES FOR SQUAT THIS YEAR.
  21. Thanks for the spit take all over my computer screen.
  22. Well, that's the second joke of mine you've LOL'ed. Heck with Conan - we can reinvent the Johnny/Ed McMahon version of "The Tonight Show" gig. :-) Big bucks... Demps, DON'T WALK PIRATES!
