  1. Ask Blanco; he seems to be the only one with a clue around these parts.
  2. Look in the stands. Are there still people there? Are they [expletive]? They're Tigers fans.
  3. Paraphrase? "Ah geez..." "OH COME ON!" "Oh man..." "AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!" *Dead silence*
  4. Jeremy Piven is letting them have it, hahahahahaha.
  5. Did he use the B word or did I hear it wrong? WTH did that mean? It means he's wasted.
  6. Isn't he the guy that wants to play in the NFL and play for the Cubs? Just what we need. A pitcher/wide receiver that likes to go over the middle and catch passes in the NFL. Yep. I think Piven was wasted.
  7. Cubs then call him up and he throws 200 pitches in his debut and he goes on DL. "He struck out a bunch of hitters and we had to let him finish the job he started" the wise old towel manager Dusty Baker claimed. Thus ruining both his football and baseball careers, causing Charlie Weis to hunt down Dusty and beat him to death with a lead pipe.
  8. Just heard on the broadcast that the Cubs and Samardzija have agreed in principle to a deal.
  9. I enjoy the mentality of this bullpen. It's like they see a fire, and then out of instinct grab and throw a bucket of something onto it without checking to see what actually was in the bucket. Sometimes it's water...other times, it's gasoline.
  10. That definitely looked like a goal.
  11. Not saying this is true of all of those guys, but the term "ringers" comes to mind. Also, the French had strong colonial holdings in Africa (see: Algeria) for a number of years. Makes sense. I guess I may be a little ignorant in this matter, I just didn't know France had that many black players or maybe even citizens. Although it has been decreasing in recent years, countries bring in guys who are ringers from other nations, throw citizenship at them, and then play them on their national team. Poland four years ago had this tremendous guy from Nigeria (whose name escapes me) who barely got his Polish citizenship processed before the deadline. This go-round, there are a bunch of guys who were first or second generation Australians with ties back to Croatia. There's a pretty even split between those on the Croatian team and those on the Australian team.
  12. See, if the Cubs had actually been upfront and honest about his injuries, I don't think he'd have that reputation. His stuff has clearly gone into the crapper since he's having trouble reaching anything resembling his old velocity. Hell, he's suffered two rather horrific injuries due to freak accidents as it is; it's a wonder he's still pitching.
  13. I think that kind of an accusation is really hard to prove and, quite frankly, unfair given circumstances and climate of that kind of abuse. A number of managers in baseball could be implicated in a similar fashion (Tony LaRussa comes immediately to mind) who drill their teams much harder and offer a better focus on fundamentals.

  15. Just wait until Wade Miller and Derrek Lee get back. They'll lead the team back into contention!
