    They ended the alternating picks thing not too long ago. I thought that part fell through in final discussions to wrap up the CBA. It wasnt a deal breaker so it was left out to sign off on a complete deal. I want to say you're either thinking of the International Draft or the ending of compensatory picks.

    I have a hard time seeing the Mets go to the WS given their playoff rotation is going to look something like Hernandez-Glavine-Trachsel-Maine. That's just plain ugly.

    A one year extension for Dusty would just be an utter nightmare.

    Here's a problem worth mulling over: Given that MacPhail is gone and McDonough is going to be interim for a year, what manager in his right mind would want to come into Chicago knowing that the front office might be completely overhauled by the start of 2008?

    It makes me wonder if they're going to announce the sale of the team in the near future. If a new owner comes in, he's likely going to want all of the entrenched management and front office GONE.
