  1. I still get really angry whenever people bring up 2004. Remember when this team was ahead in the WC and merely needed to take down the Reds and Mets, who were at the time basically AAAA teams due to injuries and trades? Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh. I HATED the way that season ended.
  2. If Baker is back next year which is highly unlikely at this point, I imagine a big riot outside of Clark/Addison I imagine some one sneaking rotten fruit into the Cubs Convention in the offseason.
  3. From what I've read with Wieters' bat and questionable lack of a position, he sounds like another Travis Snider-like situation waiting in the wings. Yay! Also, I always thought guys with good arms were put in RF to keep runners from advancing to third?
  4. My man love for Dierker just went up exponentially.
  5. He wasn't rated as a 10-read the quote again. 10 is what La Russa would give himself for all his over managing. HA! I misread that. Nice dig.
  6. Since when did TLR become a 10 on the managerial intelligence scale? This is the same friggin' guy who uses four pitchers to get three outs in an inning.
  7. Despite getting one run in the 8th, Peoria falls short and is eliminated. :( Peoria lost 4-3. Boise is currently down 5-0 at the top of the 6th. Ceda went 4.1 and gave up 5 ER, striking out three. Matulia is 1/2 and Colvin is 2/2 with a double. That's pretty much it for Boise.
  8. That's like deciding that Fettucine Alfredo is too fattening, so you have a bacon and mayonnaise sandwich instead. Or you can be like Jim Hendry and combine the two!
  9. Thanks for the PBP CCP! Sounds like Guzman had really good stuff that pretty much came and went throughout the night.
  10. For those of you who might be interested, Chris Parmelee is batting 6th for Beloit. He has yet to get a hit in the series. His stats in the MWL thus far: .227/.370/.273 with 1 2B in 22 AB. In the GCL: .279/.369/.532 with 8 HRs, 7 2Bs, and 4 3Bs in 154 AB.
  11. Peoria and Beloit knotted at 0 going into the bottom of the 3rd. No hits for either team so far.
  12. Giddy up! Go Chiefs and Hawks!!
  13. I believe Hill' going to turn out to be the stronger of the two, a solid 3, maybe even a 2 someday. Don't see that for Marshall... I highly doubt many saw Marshall as more than a really good #4 at best...maybe a #3, but not likely. But I could be mistaken. I think you're mistaken. A lot of people saw Marshall as a potential 2/3 starter once he filled out a bit. Remember, coming into the season, most people saw him as a potential candidate to start at AA or AAA considering his limited experience at AA (I believe 10 games coming into the season?). He managed to do better than most expected, but he still is rough around the edges and still has room for improvement in some areas.
  14. If the Cubs get a manager who can get Guzman regular work without overdoing it, I think taking the Santana/Liriano approach could work out for him.
  15. It would be hilarious if MacPhail made Hendry manage this team next season with the stipulation that the team make the playoffs in order for him to keep his job. Heck, the hilarity would be worthwhile just to see him in a Cubs uniform.
  16. Yap yap yap. :P Sorry, was distracted by the TV. You could have posted the boxes, you know. I'm impressed you were up so late. Unfortunately, Crim Law and Contracts took precedent over any plans I had last night. :(
  17. Amazingly enough, the Mays catch was done with runner on first and second... That play resulted in there only being runners on 1st and 3rd! In other words, not only did he make the catch, but he also got the ball back in time to keep one runner from scoring and the other from advancing. Then again, Mays' teammates all said he'd done a number of better catches than that one in the past. Also, some one at ESPN reeeeeeeeeally has a mad-on for Gary Matthews Jr. I think he should send them a thank you fruit basket when he gets his 3/$24m contract in the offseason.

  19. He did it on 103 pitches... Only 67 of which were strikes!!
  20. Not a bad list. I think Jake Renshaw, Rafael Dolis, Marco Carrillo, and Drew Rundle could all have a shot from the Cubs. I wish there were better scouting reports out there on a lot of these guys, though.
  21. http://fantasysports.theonion.com/Index.cfm Awesomeness does not begin to describe just how sheerly awesome this is. I'm in as Football Meets Groin, btw.

  23. Judging from the empty seats, I'd say the gate attendance was significantly lower.
