  1. Mostly the voices in Al Yellon's head. :D
  2. It'd be like my ideal football announcing crew: Troy Aikman, Steve Young, and Pat Summerall Crack Aikman and Young over the head with a hammer, give Summerall a handle of Jack, sit back, and watch the magic unfold. :D
  3. Talk about going down in a blaze of glory. Wow.
  4. If they can even partially alleviate this condition, it'll have been worth the time, money, and effort Project 3000 is going to invest.
  5. I love the guy, but I don't see Hendry going after him.
  6. I had Maybin, Bruce, Rasmus, Upton... & Adenhart, Davis, McGee, Veal. They're not as high on Veal as I thought they would be based on earlier comments during the season. Perhaps they compiled these lists based more on performance at that league's level as opposed to overall?
  7. St. Louis is down 9-1 to the Brewers as we speak.
  8. Donald Veal came in at #9 and was the only Chief listed. Link
  9. BUSTED PICK. TOO EARLY TO TELL.
  10. I'll admit to laughing out of surprise when I read that. That's a good way to shove the Snider thing back in my face. ;) I'm looking forward to the next few years in terms of comparing Snider and Colvin to one another. Should be fun times! Also, for you BA subscribers, get your questions in about Pawelek's fitness/stuff, debating over whether Colvin or Snider is a better prospect, and also anything else you can think of with their chat in a bit. :D If you guys could be nice enough, short summaries of BA's scouting reports on Colvin and Pawelek along with excerpts from the chat would be most welcome. 8-[
  11. It's always rough to see guys' careers ended this way. I was definitely not a Glendon supporter, but even I can see this is a terrible situation for him. Here's hoping he can make a full recovery!
  12. Over their last 10 games: Cardinals: 2-8 Astros: 8-2 Wow. The really funny part is that the Reds are 2.5 back!
  13. I'd imagine Antonelli ends up in the Top 5. Granted, his lack of power hurts, but he put up some nifty numbers. Canzler might get on that list based on his power alone.
  14. Are you talking HS guys in general or in the first round?
  15. BA named Travis Snider the #1 prospect in the Appy League. WTG Cobs.
  16. Flippy Alou, who should be fired given the debacle the Giants have gone through.
  17. Wells get a bit too much hype because of his RBIs. His base numbers are pretty good, but nothing particularly spectacular. This season: .305/.358/.547 Past three seasons:.288/.339/.498 Career: .288/.336/.493 I think the Blue Jays are going to hold some one hostage for him. I don't think he'd be worth giving up a boatload of prospects over, especially if he just ends up being a one year rental. He'd be a step up in CF, but I don't know if you could justify giving up a package of top prospects for him. I'd imagine Andruw Jones could be had for cheaper given his down year.
  18. Would it hurt the Cubs if they stuck EPatt at 2B in AAA opening day in order to see if his numbers there this season were a fluke or legitimate? The Cubs have a few in-house options at 2B who could form some sort of platoon or committee (Cedeno, Fontenot, Theriot) depending on what the Cubs want to do at 2B. Then again, they could go out and pick up Soriano or Loretta and make this entire situation moot. The Cubs could also trade any of these guys if they deem it necessary, especially if EPatt draws rave reviews from other scouting departments. I don't think it would be wise to pencil EPatt in for a starting 2B job on opening day 2007. He still has his share of kinks to work out of his game, which AAA could help significantly.
  19. But does the Tribune Company see Hendry that way? I'm sure the Cubs are still turning a sizable profit, despite their recent declining attendance and ratings. What would be most worrisome out of all of this is if the Tribune Company decides to keep the Cubs, but cut payroll in an attempt to maximize profits. If there are people in charge who think that the Cubs could easily draw an average of 25,000 people a game with a $70m payroll, they might very well take that approach, good records or not. This is not necessarily good news for Cubs fans. So many problems could come out of this whole restructuring.
  20. People would be reasonable to think that Veal and Gallagher will likely be in a Cubs uniform by September 07 at the rate things have been going with the pitching staff...
  21. Yes, but it makes him less clutchy.
  22. The only Mesa question they answered was the one on Huseby? Ouch.
  23. I really enjoyed going to Gatlinburg when I was a kid when my family would drive out to visit my grandparents in South Carolina. The mountains are gorgeous out there! I'm actually jealous of the guys who will be out there next season. Still, it stinks that we're losing most of our connections in West Tenn. If anyone can put in a good word for us with the people over there, that'd be terrific.
