  1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Cubs can go at least 5-2 going into the break. It'd be a huge boost for this team, especially with Rammy and Johnson getting healthy. Taking 3 of 4 from the Brewers is a great step in the right direction, but this team needs to get into gear for the long haul.
  2. "When you were at the Orange Bowl, you knew you were there." Words of wisdom.
  3. I think Lou was looking to get Blanco into the game as the defensive replacement at 2B, rather than subbing in Fontenot in favor of Fox.
  4. They pulled out a random frat boy from the bleachers to sing the Stretch, apparently.
  5. They've been playing really deep all series. Why? I have no idea.
  6. He and Randy Johnson should conduct a hitting camp. With special instruction from Ben Sheets. And a special guest appearance from Matt Clement!
  7. I love watching Ted Lilly hit. He has such an awkward swing.
  8. Those morons seriously thought he hit it hard?
  9. I chuckled when Bob mentioned players having career days while hung over.

  12. Jeff Antigua had a nice outing for Boise: 5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 4 K, 2 BB. However, they're currently down 8-0.
  13. Castro's back in the Daytona lineup. McDaniel was solid, going 5, walking 2, striking out 7, and giving up one run.
  14. They're under way. Reed Johnson and A-Ram didn't start, although Reed Johnson did get a PH appearance. I'm guessing the Cubs are being cautious with the wet grounds and rain. Aramis started at DH and is 0-1 with a walk. Reed took a walk too. Ahhhhhh, right. I saw Flaherty at 3B and thought they gave Rammy the day off, but forgot he could have been DHing. That makes sense.

  16. I'm going to throw out a 2008 draftee that's quietly been putting up good numbers in Daytona. He hasn't been setting the world on fire and my gut is that his future is as a utilityman (2B/3B), but nevertheless, he's been consistent and effective at the plate and in the field. Plus, as a left hander, we know he's an organizational favorite. Jake Opitz A .290/.352/.438 line with a 25/15 K/BB ratio isn't too shabby, especially for a 12th rounder senior sign.
