  1. I love how Koyie didn't get out of the box immediately and still got an easy triple.
  2. Maybe he sucks at working out of the stretch?
  3. Thunderbirds were out this morning. There's a B-1 and F-15 out flying around now I was on Lake Shore Drive about a year ago today when the Blue Angels were practicing over the lake. Needless to say, I nearly avoided a number of fender-benders because of that.
  4. I have no problem with him as a 4th or 5th OF. However, he shouldn't be playing every day and people shouldn't be saying stupid things like how he should start over Bradley or Fukudome.
  5. Oh awesome, it's the air and water show practice day. These are always fun games.
  6. Well, I was right about that dead silence part.
  7. I really hope he receives dead silence, save for one person screaming for him over-enthusiastically.
  8. Actually, I read somewhere that Hendry refered to him as a possible front end starter or a closer, so maybe. I really don't want to go through another Samardzija debacle with Cashner, either he's going to be a starter or he's going to be a closer; set him on one path and let it be. Samardzija's problem was development more than anything else. He's needed way more time in the minors to develop his secondary stuff than he's gotten so far. The fact that he's been ping-ponged between starter and reliever hasn't been what has done him in. Cashner's already a much, much, much more advanced pitcher than him. Moreover, it's quite common to see a number of the best relievers in the game go through the minor leagues as starting pitchers.
  9. I'm not going to waste the effort with anything witty or creative. Just win, Cobs.

  11. That'd make the Pac Rim haul pretty darn impressive this season if true.
  12. It'd still be battery if he just threw the beer on Victorino without hitting him with the cup. I hope this idiot gets banned from Wrigley.
  13. sort of. 4 walks in 5 innings is bad, and it seems he was pretty fortunate on batted balls (2 hits and 16 batted outs). antigua gave up 4 in the first 2 innings but has pitched shutout innings in the 3rd/4th. 4 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. burke is 2-2 with a home run (he's been really good lately), ridling has homered and walked, flaherty has 2 singles and jackson has walked and K'd. Burke is en fuego with a second HR tonight. Flaherty is 4/4, getting his AVG up over .260.
  14. That or if the white t-shirt was replaced with either a Ed Hardy or an Afflication shirt. Reeking of Axe Body Spray would also do it. Or be sitting with an incredibly hot Trixie who spends the entire game texting or chatting on her iPhone while wearing pink Cubs gear. Replace "hot" with "over-tanned and plastic surgery-ridden" and you'd be on the money.

  16. Esquivel reportedly has a strong commitment...I want to say with Kansas State? Reportedly, he'd be incredibly difficult to pry away.
  17. Of those guys, I'd say Jackson is the only realistic possibility for a callup in 2010. The other three need at least another full year of development before being ready for the show, unless something unexpected happens and they break out in an impressive fashion.
  18. I always love how, when the Cubs reach their lowest point of the season, the Pirates have been there to pick them back up again. Smacked around by Detroit and the White Sox? Pirates to the rescue! Losing streaks on the road at STL and SD? The Pirates were there!
  19. Like Dayton Moore. Or Josh Byrnes Or Jon Daniels. Jack Zduriencik seems well on his way with some weird moves made by the Mariners this season.
