  1. Well, now I feel kind of bad for laughing... Seriously, is there anything Pujols can't do?!
  2. Would a Mike Cameron-like career be too much to ask from Jackson? I'm not expecting him to be a .300 hitter, but if he can show off decent power, decent walk rates, and good enough defense, I can live with the strikeouts.
  3. Like on Naked gun. *Does a backflip, then motions for a strike*
  4. I'm convinced this umpire has no strike zone tonight. He's just calling balls and strikes randomly.
  5. Since 2003, when Hendry became GM... Cubs * 2009: $134,809,000 * 2008: $118,345,833 * 2007: $ 99,670,332 * 2006: $ 94,424,499 * 2005: $ 87,032,933 * 2004: $ 90,560,000 * 2003: $ 79,868,333 Cardinals * 2009: $ 88,528,409 * 2008: $ 99,624,449 * 2007: $ 90,286,823 * 2006: $ 88,891,371 * 2005: $ 92,106,833 * 2004: $ 83,228,333 * 2003: $ 83,786,666 Brewers * 2009: $ 80,182,502 * 2008: $ 80,937,499 * 2007: $ 70,986,500 * 2006: $ 57,568,333 * 2005: $ 39,934,833 * 2004: $ 27,528,500 * 2003: $ 40,627,000 Astros * 2009: $102,996,414 * 2008: $ 88,930,414 * 2007: $ 87,759,000 * 2006: $ 92,551,503 * 2005: $ 76,779,000 * 2004: $ 75,397,000 * 2003: $ 71,040,000 Up until the past two years, the disparities haven't been that wide.
  6. White Sox, Mets, Phillies, Dodgers, and Astros are all pretty close this year. Trade deadline moves kind mucked salaries up, so it's hard to tell based on info that's out there.
  7. Great, now Jeff's taking out his frustrations on the backstop.
  8. There are lots of bad GMs out there. Baseball GMs, when compared to the heads of other billion dollar operations, are laughably bad. Actually, no, it's pretty much the same. It's shocking how many absolute morons are out there who manage to go from golden parachute to golden parachute.
  9. I like how you say that like it's crazy. It is. A few good trades does not absolve him from the other absolutely brutal moves he's made. He's hit and miss, imo. I'm willing to give him a pass for the time being for the recent Pac Rim efforts and the 2008 draft.
  10. That would be a bad career move for him. Good call.
  11. Anyone want to take odds on Jimenez throwing behind Milton?
  12. He will if he pitches another inning. He's over the 60 pitch mark.
  13. I'd rather not burn an option with him, though, especially considering the Cubs have had him on a strict pitch count pretty much every start. There are options at AAA who could fill in if need be. They're not good options, but they're options nonetheless.
  14. Pass I would rather let Cashner have a shot. I thought Cashner was a late inning bullpen arm? Doing a great job of starting in AA, but he's nowhere near ready.
  15. With his stuff, if he pitched anywhere but Coors for half his games, he would be a good candidate every year.
  16. I'm shocked he got out of that with only three runs given up.
  17. Iowa's not too far from Colorado. If they speed across Nebraska, I'm sure the Cubs could get Jeff Stevens to the game by the 8th.
