  1. I really like him because he has a very good sinker and because he turned 20 two months ago, which is rather young for the Florida State League. He's done an excellent job of keeping the ball in the park (5 HR in 100 IP) and, from the sound of it, his secondary stuff could actually be halfway decent down the road. He still needs to work on his secondary stuff and on his control (39 BBs in 100 IP is kinda meh), plus his attitude might be a concern, but I think he has a good future.
  2. Can't we see both?
  3. Just call up some random schlub from AAA and have him close. I'd rather not waste resources on Billy flipping Wagner.
  4. Team-by-team spending breakdown. Cubs spent the 4th least in the majors in the first 10 rounds of the draft.
  5. Taking all bets! When will Favre first be booed out of the Metrodome? I got Week 6 against the Ravens.
  6. That's not the way draft compensation works. Link Teams only lose one draft pick. That's it.
  7. I'd rather have Guzman for high leverage situations than at closer. He's best used as a fireman. Marshall at closer isn't a bad idea, though. Offer him a one year deal with a team option for a second year and use him as a setup man. If he walks away from that, oh well.
  8. He might get a cup of coffee at the end of the season. I imagine he'll be sent to their rookie affiliate to be evaluated in the near future.
  9. O_O works for Boras. Some day...maybe...
  10. Purke did not sign with the Rangers and will be going to TCU.
  11. Come on Dodgers, get Smokey the Cardinal to cough up a run.
  12. Hell..... I'd settle for a few regular runs. :amen: You rock, Fred Even the occasional irregular run would nice every now and again.
  13. Close enough. Gotta learn how to be more subtle, CubsGM. :-)) Seriously, the guy can't help but troll the game threads. If he just sat back, kept quiet, and acted normally, no one would ever realize it was him.

  15. Tigers signed Turner; it's reportedly a major league deal (!!) ($5.5m plus incentives) Athletics signed Krol and Green (2.75m) Padres officially signed Tate, although reportedly he has been signed for the past week or so. They also announced the signing of Keyvius Sampson. Orioles signed Mychal Givens ($800,000) Twins signed Gibson (1.85m) Giants signed Wheeler (3.3m) Rockies signed Matzek (3.9m) Mariners signed Ackley ($9.5m major league deal) Indians signed Alex White (2.25m)

  18. Burke has always shown better discipline than Rundle. agreed. it was pretty ridiculous how some Cubs fans (at other boards) got so giddy over Rundle's SSS at Boise last year. Yeeeeeeeeeeeah...um... *Looks around* I'm going to exit this particular discussion now! http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/405/homerandpoprocks.gif
  19. The only thing that bugs me about Burke is that he hasn't hit a lot of HRs. For a corner OF, I'd like to see more power from him than just a ton of doubles.
