  4. I like the way you think. They also have some fascinating potential "buy low" prospects in guys like Matt Dominguez, Kyle Skipworth, and Sean West.
  5. The farm system is probably a tick or two below average compared to the rest of MLB right now, but it's a major improvement from where it was this time last year.
  6. More booing. I fully expect Bradley to air some dirty laundry to the media today.
  7. You are a stronger man than I. In a related note, this will bethe first time I'm prepared for my fantasy football draft since 2006. Got your draft slot assigned already?
  8. Oh come on, Aaron Miles has to be on that team somewhere.
  9. Why did so many of you expect Bradley to hit 25 or more HRs in a season when he's had a poor track record of staying healthy and when the most HRs he ever hit in a season was 22?
  10. It's that damned goat's fault. It keeps casting its supernatural magic from Goat Hell, eternally embittered and angry at the Cubs for not allowing it entrance to Wrigley.
  11. Ditto. Where did you hear this? And, frankly, if LaRussa is going to bolt for another team in the NL Central, the Reds seem to make the most sense to me since Jocketty's there.
  12. It's a lot. He has plus speed and is sporting a 50/15 SB/CS line in Daytona (and a 61/17 line overall). He needs to work on the CS numbers, but he could find his way onto a bench as a 4th or 5th OF/pinch runner type of guy. Thanks. Where were his first 11/2? Boise? Peoria.
  13. Should get through without a hitch. Bankruptcy Court judges are usually incredibly passive and the creditors would be buffoons to block this sale since it would substantially devalue the franchise and cut them off from a source of payments. Dan Bernstein indicated today that there is still the outside possibility of another bidder getting involved. There is a $20 Million backout clause in the contract, so theoretically if Utay or anyone else came in with a bid that is more than $20 Million above Ricketts' bid, Zell could back out and sell to the other party. Apparently Zell really dislikes Ricketts and doesn't like that Ricketts forced his hand by threatening to back out if the Tribune didn't agree to his terms. I would say that the chances of a new bid being accepted are very slim, but the fact remains that it is a possibility. Considering the potential legal nightmares that would stem from something like that, I really cannot see that happening. Cases like Pennzoil v. Texaco send shivers down people's spines with good reason. There are ways around those kinds of clauses and I'm sure the Ricketts would be happy to argue for something like that if they could get a large damages award from Zell and Utay.

  16. Raley and Rhee both went for the AZL Cubs tonight. Neither posted particularly noteworthy lines, though.
  17. Nearly gave up a HR to Willie Harris. Well done.
  18. Part of me almost wants them to lose this one.
