    BUMP Well folks, here we are, a couple weeks older and a couple players crappier. We now have Juan Pierre and Jaque Jones holding down our outfield, and Hendry seems hell bent on trading our third-best offensive weapon from last year? Talk just died down about him wanting to trade Prior, hill, AND patterson away for Tejada and Bedard (SP?). Unless we can find another 2B or SS, our middle infield will consist of Cedeno and Neifi. Can we call this worst case yet?

    Agree. I would love to see Kent out at second. I dont care about his defense. The superb defense ( :roll: ) of the french quarter* of the outfield will catch anything he misses. * Just for you, wolf.

    Ugh. I hate hendry so much. Why why why does he want to trade walker? I'm sick of Hendry and his douchbaggery. Also, vance, i'd pull that trade in a second. I doubt hendry would though. Miles said he is going to get delt but he said hendry didn't believe nefei was an everyday player. I would guess that's why Hendry wants Tejada so bad - Walker might be his only other option. If he's dead set on trading Walker I would guess it'd be for a good glove 2B or SS. :shrug: Yea, sadly too often "good glove" means "No bat".

    Now that these godawful Prior for Tejada rumors are dying down, what will hendry do next? I dont beleive he is done yet this offseason, or at least he better not be. Our outfield is terrible. I really hope he takes a look into Adam Dunn, if not him then see if Abreu is still available, if not then try Manny (we know he is). We know he wants to trade patterson, so I'd try to send him to boston as part of a larger package for manny (remember, they dont have a CFer right now). And he still may go after tejada (PLEASE DONT TRADE PRIOR) Anyways, What do you guys think he'll do next, if anything?

    Best Z memory ever: Bases loaded, 2 outs, Barry Bonds up. He gets him to hit a liner right back to the mound, Z catches it and his head promptly turns the color of the C on his shirt as he absoloutly flips out.

    And thus, pitching as we know it ended when all young baseball players started throwing 250+ pitches a day, causing the arms of America's future legends to fall off simultaneously. pfft. Cy young says all these people are sissys. He had over 400 IP on 5 different occasions during his career. In fact, only 6 times over his 22 year career did he fail to reach 300 innings. Todays pitchers are sissy's. :)

    Pretty much my thoughts exactly. They have a good team, no doubt. But like i said before, when you are a team with a 65 million dollar payroll surrounded by teams like the yankee's and the Redsox....your like a midgett in a world of giants. Yea, you can beat them (see: 03 marlins), but you have a whole lot going against you.

    That's most sports writers though. It's that whole "standing by your story" journalism. If you think about it, has there been any sports writer (Internet, radio, newspapers, etc.) that we would say was right on the money at least 80 percent of the time? I'd put Peter Gammons and Buster Olney in that percentile. Gammons: Sorry cubs fans, Nomar is staying in boston. He is not being traded. *ten minutes later* Gammons: This just in, Nomar traded to the cubs as part of a 4 team deal!!

    Levine said the offer was on the table for the orioles to accept or reject. I don't think Levine is a very reliable source, but, to be fair, who's to say that the "baseball sources" are any more accurate than he is? I would be inclined to agree if this only happened once. But Levine has a history of calling things to be "imminant" or sayint that there are "definative" offers on the table, only for nothing to come of these reported deals. If it happens once, fine, maybe the deal broke down. Or maybe the source got it wrong. But it has happened multiple times, and there is only one common denominator in all of these happenings. Levine.

    I think-and this isn't just exahustion talking-i really think the Yankees would entertain sending us ARod for Prior. I agree completely. You at least have to ask them if you're Hendry. That is probably one of only two prior deals i would even entertain Prior for Arod or Prior for Vlad Outside of that, he is way to valuable to me.
