  1. After dealing with the mess that was Bobby Brownlie's shoulder (*gag*), we saw that he was healthy and able to pitch, but he was nowhere near as effective as he was when he pitched at Rutgers. His velocity was way down, his stuff was nowhere near as sharp, and the only reason why he stuck in the organization for so long (beyond the $$ investment) was because he had reinvented himself as a soft-tossing right handed control pitcher who eventually flamed out. I've followed baseball enough to know that pitchers with shoulder problems terrify teams, even if those guys never had to undergo surgery for those problems. Given how Prior's stuff has degenerated so markedly (especially this year), I'm beginning to see him fall into the Bobby Brownlie mold. And yes, it killed me to type that. Cheer up. Angel Guzman had a torn labrum and is now throwing easy gas at 96/97. :) Shoulder injuries do suck. Its strange, I almost wish that Prior would at least have some injury that allows surgery. At least they/he will know what he's getting into and try to fix it.
  2. i just watched the video. It doesnt look as bad as it sounds. It looks like when he hit it he thought it was going foul behind the plate. He had trouble locating it and didnt jump out of the box immediately to run to first base. Probably should of made a lame jogging effort though once he spotted the ball. Ive seen worse 'dogging it'
  3. I havent been able to watch as much basketball as i used to. Ive seen a couple Bulls games of late. How long has Tyrus been playing the last 6 or so minutes of the 4th Qtr. When approximately did that start?
  4. 'Cubweiser and the Lions' makes me want to puke. Ok here we go... Detroit Lions select MLB, David Harris. University of Meeechigan. The Lions really need Middle Linebacker and Harris is probably the 2nd best MLB in this draft. He has all the football skills as well as all the 'measurables' to make it in this league. It isnt a coicindence UofM's defense really improved last year while Harris took over the starting MLB. Ernie Sims is a real good Weakside LB in the cover 2, adding Harris will give them a nice 1-2 punch. Harris can start from day 1 on this team, Lions need that in this pick. CB is a REAL pressing need with Dre Bly's depature. But im going to go with Harris here because im pretty damn positive he wont be a bust and will be a real solid contributor immediately. Great PR move too having a Michigan man be the QB for this defense, they could use that well. Change the thread title....now
  5. A grand slam and then a solo shot and they got it.
  6. Everett needs a good punching in the face.
  7. Well that just shows them how insignificant the Astros are. :D
  8. Wait. Can you imagine how hard it would be for Colangelo to overspend on salaries for the Cubs franchise than the Dbaxx and put it in ruins? It would be a payroll like $300 Million or something. Colangelo was trying to build a franchise in Arizona. I prefer to say he invested this money on his players than overspending. The Phoenix Suns franchise was pretty well run during his tenure. He bought them for $44M and sold them for $401M. Sounds like a nice investement to me. Im not advocating him as an owner. If the worst thing he could do is spend too much money, he can go right ahead and be bad in that department.
  9. thought that was gone. fatty gave it a ride.
  10. Lets see...oooh this could be fun :P 1. A new place holder? 2. Another drunk kicker to replace Vanderjackass? 3. FS, ahh the obvious. That guy was AWFUL last year. Cowboys secondary was below marginal last year.
  11. Someones gotta do it. Since you are the first to step up go for it. Then vance can go after you pick for the Rams.
  12. 0-1 when i drink beers. Im drinking beers today....gotta get back to .500 :)
  13. Great, Gonzalez will continue to haunt me. I though i was done with him and now he's in Minny. Boo.
  14. damn Dunns face got in the way. woulda went to the wall.
  15. Aram coming out of the gates firing this year.
  16. With no search function how did you find this thread? Bookmark? about a million clicks through the forum Or the fact that it was your own thread so it was probably no problem for you to find it. I can't even say how completely ridiculous it is to bump a thread you made under a different name and then pat yourself on the back with your new name. Ha thats funny, i never paid attention to how old this thread was til now.
  17. Silver is only referencing 'only leadoff situations' but then applies ALL 41SBs to Soriano's SBOBP. He came up with the 36.6% value based on leadoff situations, i bet if he runs numbers on SB with 1 and 2 outs it is going to be less. The already recognized charts of runs scored with getting runners on with no outs, 1 out and 2 out would lead us to this conclusion also. I think its much simplier to just subtract the CS from the OBP and then add the 41SB to his SLG % if you want to put a value to the SB's.
  18. Detroit Lions select OG Texas, Justin Blalock. Lions are really talent deficient on both the LG and RG front. They allowed 63 sacks and were worst in rushing(hmmmm...Mike Martz anything to do with that?). Any of the top 3 OG should be a good fit here and all should have the ablitity to start immediately. Blalock is the choice here because Grubbs is gone. Do you remember when Kevin Jones was a top 15 draft pick in Fantasy Football 2 years ago based on his last 8 game performance in the 2004 season? People are down on him, but i dont believe its because he lacks the talent, his offensive line is really bad except for Center D. Raiola and LT Backus. If the Lions want to continue to have their running backs slam into a bunch of asses at the line of scrimmage they draft in other need areas. That doesnt sound like much fun to me, they go OLine here.
  19. this is the reason the NFL should implement a rookie cap a la the NBA. I'm beginning to think Jimmy Johnson's trade value chart needs to be, well, "re-evaluated" Off the top of my head I can't remember any teams trading up into the top 10, or out of it in recent years. IMO, because of the salaries of top 5-10 picks, those picks are become less desirable. Ive been thinking the same thing. If the Bears were to work something out for the Bills #12 spot id like that more. 6 spots isnt that much of a talent drop off but it is in terms of $ risked on. Tommie Harris is a good example of this. Bears hit the jackpot. Im beginning to even wonder that at current pace/trend we've seen over the years for top 10 talent that some team will 'overdraft' a player on the premise of an agreed upon contract. Ala what we see in baseball. Why not draft Greg Olsen at #6 and pay him say #12 money. He should know hes not going to get drafted top 10 otherwise, its good for him too.
