  1. kinda hard to say penn state "should have lost" when purdue needed 10 points in just over 2 minutes to even tie the game. would it have given purdue a better chance to send the game to overtime? yes, but even then purdue can still lose the game. so the blown call probably didn't affect the outcome of the game. not to mention that trying to get PSU fans to sympathize with blown ref calls is barking up the wrong tree well i think everyone, save for ohio state, has been boned over by the refs against michigan. :-({|= And so it begins even before the seasons starts.
  2. I like Orton a little more than Rex in this offense because of his pocket presence(the qb is going to be under severe pressure, negative plays are going to kill drives, not enough fire power to overcome long down and distances) and hes a little more conservative in throwing to his targets. With better weapons i like Rex. The only quarterback that i can think of doing something with this offense happens to be in jail.
  3. i am going to predict that michigan state does what they always do, start out good, lose a game to a good team that they should've won, then go in the toilet. They did lose overtime games to Iowa and N'western last year(bad). However they played Michigan, OSU and Wisconsin very close and closed out the season beating Purdue and Penn St to make a bowl game. They were heavy underdogs against Boston College and played them close. So I dont think they kept the same pattern that they had done under Smith. They rallied to make a very respectable season. Dantonio is one grumpy SOB but he is such a better coach than John L its not even funny. I couldnt remember who they played in the bowl til you said BC but i remember them playing very well in that game. I look for MSU to improve even furter this year, if they dont id be surprised.
  4. If the Bears run a goaline offense with 3 TEs sets they might have a shot at protecting the QB this year and eliminating the killer negative plays. It would be total joker football but hilarious at the same time...wait this offense will be hilarious anyway, hilarously sad. Don't go grabbing a beer before a punt or kickoff because thats when the O hits the field.
  5. No lets not talk about the offense, thats just one big cluster. And yeah im worried that this offense wont be able to imploy the strategy of grinding the opponent down rushing the ball because the line just doesnt seem to have the components to do that. That could very well spill over to the defense and cast a bad light on them.
  6. Sack totals do not make a defense. You brought up that they lacked an impact pass rusher. I was just pointing out that in 2005 they didnt have one either. I cant argue about the age factor(Wale, but i agree with raw, wale had a very good year last year and maybe his best), but in some areas of this 2008 defense the experience is in their favor. The 2005 schedule is easier than 2008s. Is it fair to compare these 2 defense based solely on stats when the opponents and strength of schedule isnt the same (their were some real crummy offenses they played against). The 2005 may have better numbers than 2008 but would that make them better regardless of SOS.
  7. Wale and Brown combined for 16 sacks in 2005. Not exactly impact numbers. Harris had 3 then. Those arent exactly numbers that scare me. Add in Anderson and this years DLine sack totals should exceed 2005s.
  8. Vasher>Vasher05. 05 Vasher was the year he began to play more on the outside and was full time starter. Look at the 06 for proof of his continual improvement. Anderson>>>Haynes. Hell Bazuin might be better than Haynes. Dline depth=/>Dline05. Ian Scott started and Tank was more of 3rd down(he should of played more). I like Adams more than Scott and Boone was terrible in this scheme. Harrison and Dusty are much better suited for this defense than Scott and Boone. Harris>Harris05 Urlacher and Brown probably arent as good as they were, probably not as much difference from Urlacher than from Brown. Secondary depth>Secondary depth. Azumah was solid in the slot but Thompson was terrible everywhere.
  9. If there is an offense that is in need of experimenting with the spread offense to hide the deficiency of their Oline in the NFL its the Chicago Bears. However, Ron Turner is not the man. And if this offense is going to be so crappy in protecting the Qb im actually leaning towards Orton now because he can at least move within the pocket to buy some time. I like Matt Forte too, hes got talent. He would be better served with a better line but he is already an upgrade over Benson. This defense is better than the 2005 Bears team and that team made the playoffs with the rookie Orton. Im not putting money that they will make the playoffs this year but i think they will be closer to making it than not.
  10. I2 made some nice plays yesterday and i like what i saw from Harrison too.
  11. Bears Special teams hasn't missed a beat.
  12. Bolt has nitro. They say the 100 is getting to top speed and then maintaining it. Bolt keeps going faster
  13. Going after someone because they 'pimped a homer' or whatever you want to call it is freaking stupid. This is the 21st Century, guys pose, wake up Braves. The Cubs arent going to lay back and let them do that to one of their best hitters, how freaking dumb are they to not expect a retaliation. Escobar is a complete spaz too.
  14. what are you looking a sammons. hahaha
  15. The steal by Wade and inbound save that he turned into an alleyoop to Kobe was awesome. I sat up out of my bed on that play as it transpired.
  16. I love this team. LOADED
  17. The brewers seem to go on for stretches of being incredibly hot.
  18. Prepare for the Cubs to ish on your wish.
  19. haha the 3-1 pitch to aram sucked and then hits the next pitch through the shift.
  20. I didnt like St. Clair at right tackle how is he going to be better at LT. Move Tait back to LT, he is at least serviceable and much better than JSC. Its a good thing they put this bit at the end of the article because you could stop reading right here when refering to Miller...
  21. Tom Thayer reported that Chris Williams had back surgery to repair a herniated disc. It shouldnt be season ending and Tom said he had the same thing done in one of his off seasons and came back fine. Still a downer as i was interested to see what Williams could do.
  22. this episode was so great asking T.O. how much he weighs "two what? two what? two what?" "too sexy" PacMan making it rain on Felix with Ware in on the assist was pretty good too. I watched that episode last night but came in late and missed these parts. Hard Knocks is a great show and fun to watch. The microphone Tank made was hilarious.
  23. The acquistion of Chad Gaudin is huge. Takes the sting out of Howry sucking so bad, and man has he sucked. When it comes to playoffs all you really need are 3 good relievers and a loogy. Wood, Marmol, Gaudin. Marshall and Cotts for Loogy and for good measure Leiber +/- Shark. Getting to the playoffs may have rough strectches with Howry but once they are there it shouldnt matter because Gaudin has been solid. Its ending up being the Harden/Gaudin trade and not just the Rich Harden trade.
  24. I dont have any real preference yet on who they play, its that its a short series that im worried about. The Cubs are the best team in the NL and i feel much better about them in 7 game series than 5.
