  1. When Vandy played UM they didnt suck as much as i expected them to suck.
  2. It looks like Indiana really has gotten better. That #6 for them is fast. Whattup Wisconsin.
  3. $115 Million....holy smokes! But wasnt the payroll over $100M this year but since Hendry didnt get Furcal he only spent like $95 of it. Needs to step up this time.
  4. I like the idea of resting Wale for this week just before the bye week, so he gets another 2 weeks. Or play him very minimally Monday Night.
  5. As the game gets close i get more worried about UM at PSU. Just because you have a little #4 next to your name and the other team doesnt have a little number doesnt mean the game is a given. IT just isnt. Michigan has better balance on offense than PSU but the longer the game goes with the score close the less that will matter. IF UM can jump on PSU early then i will feel supremely confident. Until then i dont. PSU has a good defense, the ND game just unraveled for them. I think UM can contain Hunt pretty well, just cant make big mistakes on offense or defense.
  6. It was pretty much gospel in Tampa that he hates young players if he can have an alternative and doesn't understand the importance of OBP, and if you don't believe me listen to him talk on Fox, it's pretty clear that's where he stands. The last thing I want is a white, insane version of Dusty Baker. Ive listened to Lou on many broadcasts this year. During a Cubs game he pointed out the Cubs werent patient enough looking at pitches and needed to improve their obp. On the other hand i have heard him talk about things where he passes the obp thing over. If all he cared about was average why did he like Jay Buhner so much? Ok, thats not really a question, i just thought id drop his name. One thing the Cubs suck at is walking batters. This trait is something Lou will not accept from his pitchers and it will drive him crazy. He won't take it lightly.
  7. Bears signed Bennie Joppru TE to practice squad. Joppru was a 2nd round pick for the Texans and has been hurt all 3 years. I liked him as a player for the Wolverines. He's got good skills.
  8. Well i did like the Mariner teams he managed. I never thought he got in the way of them. The really only negative i have heard on him is he is so demanding of his pitchers and doesnt tolerate crap from them. The old school saying 'hitters hating pitchers'....sometime i believe he actually hates them. Obviously he doesnt otherwise he would be a terrible manager. Just perception. Him and Dibble fighting in the locker room is classic. Bruce, Thanks for the insight on Lou a couple pages back. I like hearing one of his strengths is he's adaptable. And....whoa, the Cubs thinking about Soriano in CF? Just whoa. I like it!
  9. Move Cubs start times to 4:20 anybody? Zig Zag could sponsor it.
  10. Manningham is out for this weeks PSU game and his return remains uncertain. Lloyd is suck a jackass when it comes to injuries, i dont understand the benefit of hiding injuries or the severity. One reporter commented before the knee surgery was public that he would just search the campus and see how mario was walking around. Lloyd said its a free country go ahead. Thats so dumb. This is Lloyds MO when it comes to injuries, it pisses me off.
  11. I dont like Johnson is pass coverage at all. If manning gets suspended what is the appropriate amount? 1 game, 2 game? i say 1.
  12. That game is at Auburn. I look forward to seeing Auburn winning and going right back to #2. The SEC is just that darn good. If Florida loses (please, I'm begging), and an SEC team moves to #2 it better as heck be Tennessee. We are far more proven than any other SEC team. Which seems strange to say after last season, feels good to say it though. :) If Florida were to lose to Auburn, I don't see how Tennessee would be far more proven than Auburn. I guess Tennessee's loss is a "better" loss than Auburn's, but on the other hand Auburn would have beaten the team UT lost to. I'm not saying Auburn would deserve to be ranked ahead of UT, but I don't think anyone could be too upset with either being in front of the other. Auburn has wins over South Carolina (barely), Miss St, Buffalo, and Washington St. If they beat Florida, that's their only good win. Tennessee has dominated Cal, put up 50 on a good defense at Georgia (granted their offense isn't real good), and beat Memphis, Marshall, and Air Force (barely). The Vols' resume is much better than Auburn's. Also, let me say I'm not arguing UT should be #2, just hypothetically if you put an SEC team there, it should be Tennessee. Auburn sure didnt look very special against Arkansas. I was watching the game saying.....ok what makes this team look like a #2 team? After it was over i was like oh....maybe it was supposed to be #12. I saw nothing that made them look scary, #2 teams should look scary.
  13. You need Michigan to keep rolling so the ass kicking ND took doesnt look anymore than another dead bug on Michigans windshield. Ok, seriously anybody that would vote ND ahead of UM would need their head checked. Just because someone loses doesnt mean teams should leapfrog them because their loss was 4 weeks ago. Thats so 1990's.
  14. What's the deal with Manningham? I'm hearing that he may be out 2-3 weeks. They still have Breaston, Arrington (damnit) and probably 10 other stud recievers like always, but that would be a big loss and improve Iowa's chances. What? Damnit. Nothing was reported during the game. The other guys are young and inexeperienced, Tabb is ok but he wont do much. This hurts their deep threat big time.
  15. PSU didn't look very good Saturday though and were handed a win at Minnesota. It's hard to get a good read on them at this point. I agree with the sentiment though. I hear all this talk about how this team is different they'll definitely be undefeated heading to the OSU game and in watching them they are impressive. But then I remember that Lloyd is still on top. They're at PSU this week and then host Iowa. If they get past those two, they'll cruise. We always play well against Michigan and play pretty well in Ann Arbor and late October is money time for Ferentz teams. The next 2 weeks will definetly tell the story. Michigan throttled MSU this week (13 points came when it was 31-0) and MSU always plays them tough, i was very surpised they rolled so well. MSU is such an engima. Its hard to gauge Penn St. I dont think they are as bad as the ND score indicates. Going to Happy Valley and playing primetime is never easy. They have a good defense and can run the ball to keep the game close. If Michigan can jump on them early, i dont think PSU and Morelli can mount a passing attack comeback. I see the chances of this being closer more than a blowout. Iowa will be their final challenge before OSU. Its a good thing for UM its at AA than at Iowa this year. Iowa always plays UM tough and wouldnt be shocked if UM lost. UM's offense is really rolling, very balanced. The weakness on this team is the secondary ex-Leon Hall. Tate can and needs to expose this, he has a better chance than Morelli. Also, USC doesnt impress me this year. They are winning a lot of games by this skin of their teeth. They will lose 1 or 2 games this year.
  16. This bears repeating....twice. Henne to Manningham. Henne to Manningham. Manningham now with the D1 lead of 9 TD receptions.
  17. I dont know why Verlander doesnt K people more. He has a nasty curve ball as a out pitch. He rely's on his upper 90s fastball a lot. One word for Kenny Rogers last night. MASTERPIECE. He was awesome last night, crazy awesome.
  18. A's Win the WS. Hendry "Ive decided i like guys who get on base" It can happen, it really can right?
  19. Yes, you wouldn't want to give the new manager a WS-ready team. That would be unthinkable. Let's be realistic here...this is the Cubs we're talking about. Piniella needs a team like the Yankees have now to get anywhere. The Cubs aren't getting that. Oh Really. Case Study 1: The 1990 WC Cincinnati Reds. Lets have a look at this 'veteran' roster. Payroll of $14M Barry Larkin-26 Chris Sabo-28 Billy Hatcher-29 Paul Oneal-27 Eric Davis-26 Mariano Duncan-27 Todd Benzinger-27 Joe Oliver-25 Hal Morris-25 Glen Brags-27 Jeff Reed-27 Tom Browning-30 Jose Rijo-25 Jack Armstrong-25 Danny Jackson-28 Rick Mahler-37 Nasty Boys: Rob Dibble-26 Randy Myers-27 Norm Charlton-27 Tim Layana-26 Ancient i say, ancient. The man needs crusty veterans to win. Yeah right.
  20. Yup, this is why im not concerning myself with the rankings. As long as Michigan keeps winning, things will work out for them.
  21. Yeah Bowa is downright awful. Operating under the philosophy that 'the managers job is not screw things up', Larry Bowa is the anti-role model.
  22. Jarmillo from USA Today... "We're aggressive. We're here to attack the ball. We're not here to work a walk," Jaramillo says. "Obviously we want to swing at strikes. If that walk comes our way, we'll take it. But that's not our mentality." Ok. So how is that any different from Dusty and his buddies.
  23. If if have to see another subway series in my lifetime im going to _______. Since the yankees are looking like real favorites to win the AL im going to focus all my negative energy on that cess pool of stadium called shea and root against the Mets. Id like to see Nomar just go off this postseason and glavine get shelled too. Willie Randolph is irritating me lately, he can start sucking anytime too. Oh that stupid apple is centerfield. Dont get me started on that......
  24. Is there some Dark Horse candidate we might be missing? Could there be somebody on a playoff team that Hendry wants to interview but needs to wait until they are eliminated? Could this be why they have communicated a vauge timetable of when a manager might be hired. Just wondering out loud.
  25. i love jim leyland but i didnt get what he was doing earlier.
