  1. I agree with all you are saying about fairness, but for the spirit of fair negotiations they are entering into a negotation without the real intent of signing a deal. Did they really think he would sign for $7M-$8M over 4-6 years. If they did they are dillusional.
  2. Boston's $7M-$8M isnt reasonable for him. Not in this market. Boston could end up looking really bad in this if they dont up the deal to at least $12M or $13M. They are low balling the hell out of Matz. I dont see why he would sign the deal boston is talking about. He's going to make like $2-3M in Japan this year i think. He does that for another year, the posting fee will go down since it only 'buys' you one year not 2 and then he gets a more lucrative deal next year. Seibu doenst make as much next year but so what.
  3. Nobody's rotation in this division is all that impressive. In fact no one in the whole NL has all that impressive one either. The Cubs have a VERY solid bullpen. Thats an advantage over the teams in the division and NL. Im optimisitic about the bats.
  4. The opp. BA last year against him was .289, compared to Marmol's at .250, Hill at .227 (wow), and Marshall's at .270 His BAA even in his 'good' years arent very good either. His BB/K/IP's ratios aren't very good. He doesnt have any stat that could be construed as "stuff stats", and by that i find it hard to believe he will ever be better than 4.50 ERA guy. One year ok. 3 years not so ok.
  5. Thats an awful lot of money for a pinch hitter. Or wait.....you are saying he is a pitcher?
  6. This sucks. Im going to hold out hope. Lovie said 'perhaps'. thats the word im hanging my hat on.
  7. I dont know. IF he's trading guys to bring in a high profile guy thats risky. Is this really the market to be dumping SP with now good contracts? Garcia or Meche? Garcia is $1M cheaper, id waay much rather have Garcia. Garland is good value too nowadays. Don't you make these moves after you get your high prized player, not before? Kenny sure seems like a wildman to me.
  8. You took the words right out of my finger tips. Hey i remember laughing at the Tigers last year for offering Kenny Rogers for 2 years at 16M was crazy. Whatta deal. I bet Kenny now wishes he didnt sign a 2 year deal and only had one. He' be getting 14 this year. He was all pissy about not getting 2 year offers.
  9. Good. He wont be taking away PT from The Riot.
  10. If thats true the Cards are offering 3/20M that is way below market. Almost insultingly low.
  11. Anybody outbidding the Yankees should be afraid. How many SP do they need.
  12. I blame Prior's recruiting. He failed us again. No really its a big bummer, i would of been totally surprised had he come to the Cubs. It was a good dream though.
  13. I heard the Dbax were pursuing him. Thats all ive heard. He's too risky for the Cubs i believe. Although someone who takes a chance on him next year could really pay off for them.
  14. Nice one. I like his hang loose sign and 1990 cell phone. Sadly they dont have a live Wolverine as a mascot. Probably something about all the liberals at AA not liking a wild animal all caged up or something. I say put him on a leash like a dog and have him walk the sidelines. Although the person holding the leash and anyone who comes near him would probably get his ass all chewed up by that mean frickn animal. Or maybe because wolverines dont live in the state of Michigan anymore..haha. How sorry is that. Commodores eyes are scary. Whattsup with his mouth though.
  15. ND isnt going to be very good next year anyway, so they wont be effecting the BCS. The Conferences will probably review the 'no more than 2' thing criteria anyways. That made sense when there were only 4 BCS games (8 spots) in the past, but with the new NCG there are now 2 more spots available and we saw first hand how it shook out this year. Boise State would have to go undefeated every year to get into the BCS and how likely is that. So if you take out BSU and ND next year you better allow 3 from one conference as a possiblity. Heck i can see them putting together a 4 team playoff AND the 4 BCS games for a total of 12 'BCS Teams' as a next step to a playoff.
  16. He's got a great OBP when he hits .355
  17. Reb lives it, he aint no phony. Dudes driving around in a handicap golf cart, i give him props for that.
  18. My best guess is Hendry is currently riding the merry-go-round with Daffy and Goofy. Neifi Perez and Jose Macias are at the Winter Meetings?
  19. I voted for Pistol Pete. Ive never seen him before i like him. The Utep Minor Guy has a kickass belt buckle. If if was a fan, id own one of those. The Buckeye is so dumb. Penn State Lion- I swear is made from some old brown carpet torn up from a rundown house. Sparty looks like they spent the most bank on. The Mountaineer is just some guy they found in the deep woods. How is that a Mascot, its just some person holding a gun.
  20. Not really "Bowl" related but it is college related. Now, first off im not saying hes not deserving of this award but it is another peculiar happening in college football. What college football....peculiar, no way. No, im not taking this seriously, just having some fun with it. James Laurinaitis won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for best defensive player of the year. No surprise, hes a great LB, even more impressive he is a true sophmore. But, he didnt win the award for the best defensive player in his own conference. I mean how can he win this award and not even win it in his own conference? Im sure i can get some SEC/Florida fans to agree with me on this one right? 8-)
  21. Guys. Ive seen couple replays of Cedric TD run and ummmm its pretty good. Dudes got speed to get around the corner and turn up field. Few running backs in the NFL could make that run. Most definetly his best run of the year and a showcase of what his ablities are.
  22. It looks like the gambling public seems to think that Florida is not the 2nd best team. USC (-7.5) vs Texas Those were the 2 best teams last year. Try this. UM was a 6 point dog AT Columbus. Florida cant even match that on a neutral field. Thats about a 5 point swing if you factor in HFA. So yeah NUN has a very valid point about the betting public.
  23. Howard Schnelebergerwhatever ballot is crazy. 15th for LSU and 18th for OU. Good lord.
  24. Interesting link with each ballot for the coaches poll. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/graphics/coaches_fb_poll_2006/flash.htm
