Someone tell the Cubs that this is actually a new game so someone has to hit the solo HR -
.500ish team since the break with a lot of sizable losses, an 8-1 record in 1 run games, almost every hitter is in considerable offensive slump save Rizzo and Zobrist and our starters save Hamels and sometimes Monty or Hendricks have been shelled or only good for 5 innings. It’s been a disaster but we’ve been able to keep our heads above water while we wait for the team to play better.

So the 3 pitchers we got to replace Jake/Lackey/whoever were a 5 inning pitcher, a guy who can’t go more than 20 pitches into a rehab start before reinjuring himself and a guy threatening to break the record for most BB/9 pretty much ever

The Cubs offense has a .598 OPS over the last 7 days heading into today

Yeah but this is standard for a new kid coming up. It’s a game of adjustments. We have seen that Bote has a good approach and hits the ball hard. If he can make the adjustments he will be more than fine. If he doesn’t, he will be like the hundreds of other kids that come up with a good bat and don’t pan out.

Yeah. Really can’t see a scenario where they don’t shut him down and start over, unless he by some miracle just has cramps. If they shut him down for any length of time I don’t know if it’s possible for him to come back and able to he counted on in October

So were again looking at Lester, Hendricks, Hamels, Monty/Quintana in the PO rotation Dammit I was really hoping Darvish could come back and pitch like a #1 or #2 with a fresh arm. Oh well

Cubs offense had a .771 OPS in the first half and a .720 in the second half. In 15 August games (not including tonight) it’s .694

In one inning Chatwood gave up more runs than were scored in the first 2 games of the series by both teams combined.
